@Pupowl - I love the picture of the spiderweb! Amazing. You have hedgehogs?
High five for choosing to go the bike and walk.
Yes! I agree with @Cyncia85 about everything here — The pictures are beautiful and I especially like the spider web! Good job pushing through your inertia to get outside and move, and what a bonus that the bike ride turned out to be so fun! 🤩
And, I also echo @Itadakimasu7 —Itadakimasu7 wrote: »@Pupowl -- Kowaii! Hedgehog! That's so amazing. … They're so stinkin' adorable. You'll have to keep us updated.
@Zaxa2021 -- The party sounds like fun 2, 2 year olds - that is a workout!
Big Congrats to: @Armygirlarmyof1 @lacatgirl and @Pupowl team winners this week! :trophy:

@Jlswensen I feel for you! I hate when my plantar fasciitis or other feet problems act up! Feel better soon! Hope the stretches and ice helps!
@Pupowl you have been doing so awesome with your #s! You’ve been especially good with your calorie goals! Way to
@bearchested I’m like you too. I tend to focus hard on one area of life and let the others fall. It’s something to take note of. I didn’t really think of it that way, but I do. Thanks!
@PatriceFitnessPal welcome back!! Looking forward to your energy!
@Cyncia85 great job meal planning and being committed!
@Zaxa2021 happy birthday to your boys!

I’ve always been a stress or emotional eater. Recently I just received a promotion but my replacement for my current job (same company) doesn’t start for another month. I’m learning my new position and helping out my old department by doing all the mandatory requirements for them so they don’t fall behind.
I’m feeling the effects of the stress now unfortunately. I’m having anxiety and not sleeping well. I woke up this morning with high anxiety, hence why I’m writing at 3:45. My routine has changed and I’m not walking before work or after work anymore. I am getting a midday walk at least though. I’m packing healthy lunches, but I tend to graze or rather mindlessly binge when I come home before I make dinner for my family. As I woke up so early again this morning it hit me – I am not taking care of myself! As I write this, you would think that would be totally obvious for me, but it really wasn’t. In my mind I kept just thinking, OK, I’ll get to that, I’ll do that tomorrow, I’ll start tomorrow, but tomorrow keeps extending, and now I’m feeling the effects of many, many tomorrow goals ignored.
@Cyncia85 i need a mantra for this! Maybe something like—work will always be there, but you’re health can’t wait. Throw one out to me 😉
@Sbus12
When you mention the tomorrows, it sounds like procrastination.
Congratulations on the promotion!
After reading about your job, I’m curious – would some boundaries with work be helpful?
Learning a new role can be mentally/emotionally draining. Don’t burn yourself out. I encourage you to give more to yourself and less to your job. Is there a way for the people in the old department to split up the work until your replacement arrives? This way they are cross-trained and can support the new hire. You can focus on your health and your new role. Or who did you report to in the old department? How can this person support you and the team?
I’m curious what a good mantra would be…here are a couple...
My boundaries are an act of self-care.
My well-being is my top priority.
I give myself grace as I embark on a new journey.3 -
@Pupowl that's so cute - a hedgehog house
@PatriceFitnessPal - Wow, your comment about managing my schedule so well reminded me of a lesson I am still learning about not being hard on myself. Thank you1 -

Good morning Shape Shifters. Thanks for all the nice comments I woke up to this morning! I had a rest day yesterday. My dad came over and we did some shopping. I got a play tunnel for Tinus, new socks and a huge pumpkin spice scented candle with woodwicks. I have been eating pretty perfectly on plan for the past month, so on Wednesday (after my weigh in of course!) I am going to make wraps. I love eating wraps, but it is very high in calories. My grocery store doesn't have the right stuff for it, so I don't really get the chance to make them often in the first place. Since my dad was here now, we could visit the nicer store in a bigger town and get the vegan meat I want for them. I am looking forward to that!
I also found baklava in the store. I do not have a sweet tooth really, but baklava is so effing amazing! This was a box with 12 pretty large pieces, probably around 2000 calories total. I knew if I bought it, it wasn't going to survive to the next day. So while it was hard and made me cry a little bit on the inside, I put it back and I didn't buy it. Maybe somewhere down the line when I have more control over portions, but it would have been stupid at this point in time. Happy Monday everyone

Happy Monday Everyone!5 -
This past Saturday marked one year since my mother passed away. I didn't weigh in, work out, log any food. I needed some time to myself. But I am back today, and my goal is to work out after work. My mom worked out well into her 80s, went to Zumba, lifted weights I want to honor her memory and take better care of myself, too.
So I don't have a weigh-in to report today. I skipped weigh-in this week.10 -

This week's group challenge is on emotional eating. Head over to the page if you'd like to participate. Here are a few affirmations to help with mindful eating.
Today I eat to nourish my body.
I am grateful for this meal.
I enjoy and appreciate the taste and texture in each bite.3 -

I’m sending a new starting weight after returning from the support team: 139.5.
I’ll weigh-in on Thursdays, as usual.

My goal weight is 125 right now but, we’ll see. Maybe 130 is more realistic. I met my goal weight of 125 in September 2021 and stayed between 120-130 until the end of November 2022. So, it looks as though I’ve gained about a pound per month since then. I’m ready to reverse the trend!

@Cyncia85 thank you so much for your thoughtful response! You are right, I need to set boundaries. I actually had a seminar today on difficult conversations and they talked about advocating for yourself. Draining myself doesn’t win any awards—I need to speak up and discuss what is reasonable for my new schedule.
I love all the mantras! Each one can used depending on the day. Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness!

@Becoming_A_Butterfly I’m glad you took a me-day! Anniversaries are hard but getting back in the swing and taking care of yourself and replicating your mom’s example of living a fit life is definitely a way to honor her ❤️3

Weigh day…
Since I haven’t been any better than maintaining—I don’t like posting. I’m in this group to be focused and lose weight and as @Cyncia85 said—I’ve been procrastinating 😉
I’m really hoping this is my last maintenance weight I throw out here. Looking at the silver lining… At least I am maintaining and not gaining.

Good morning Shape Shifters. I didn't have the best morning yesterday because of horrible sleep. I had 2 mosquitoes in my net, my leg was very sore (old injury sometimes randomly does that), my heart was acting up and later I had a nightmare that woke me up crying. Then when I booted my pc, it ran a repair scan for a driver. I probably could have skipped it, but I was taking care of Tinus when I turned it on, so it started the scan. It took 1,5 hours! And when it was finally at 99%, it jumped back to 0% and got stuck there. So I turned it off, and on again, and this time I was there to skip the scan. PC worked just fine.
Then I had to pick up a napping Tinus and put him in the stroller for the vet visit. Realised I forgot his vaccination booklet, so had to go back for that. Thankfully we were only a few houses away from home, but it was still annoying. Vet visit went alright, but he didn't like getting his blood taken, who can blame him. He was still very well behaved though. After the blood, his vaccination and then the painkiller injection. A lot of needles for poor Tinus. I expected to be 250-300 euros lighter after this visit, so I was happily surprised when it was 'only' 198 euros. I later got a phonecall to let me know his blood results were all good, so that was great.
When I was walking Tinus in the backyard, the hedgehog came out of the house and started wandering in the garden. I figured that would be a good time to check inside the house if there is enough leaf litter. But when I looked over at the house, I saw two much smaller hedgehogs around the entrance! My hedgehog has a family! The house has likely been used to nest in and the babies are now big enough that mom leaves during the day to fatten up for winter. How cool is that and I had no idea. Ever since I put the house in place, I resisted checking on it because I didn't want to disturb any animals if they were using it. I am glad I left it alone now. I got a second hedgehog basket at the store, because now I feel responsible for keeping them alive. A lot of young hedgehogs don't make it through their first winter so I will do my best to help. I will go to the grocery store in a bit to buy some wet catfood and then I will set up a feeding place. Happy Tuesday everyone

@pupowl - What a fun story to read about your hedgehog neighbors! I’m sorry you had such a difficult night and annoying morning but I’m glad your computer didn’t crash and everything else worked out in the end.
@Sbus12 - I like the reminder to make time for wellness. I’ve been interested in the exchange between you and @Cyncia85 about mantras. Thank you both for taking on the motivator role and suggesting ways for all of us to shift our mindsets so we can be nicer to ourselves and gain confidence!
There are a lot of tips on the MFP to help build our knowledge on topics of health, nutrition, and fitness. These are helpful in building our competence/skills; but this type of community — with structured support from our co-captains (@jessicakrall8 and @Pupowl) and motivators (@Sbus12 and @Cyncia85) and other F2F leaders — really helps shape our beliefs about what’s possible. Together, we learn, grow, and change overtime by testing out what works and improving our behaviors. The tracking can help us turn those positive changes into daily habits and healthy routines. Thank you all for contributing to the Shape Shifter network of support. All the active members help me tremendously. 🙏🏼😊🙏🏼3 -

Chilling occasionally is important, to allow our bodies time to recover. We all need a little down time from time to time. 👍3 -
@Pupowl -- I think I speak for all of us when I say we need a photograph of Hedgehog house. I guess in my head it's kinda a smurf hut with hedgehogs in it... :-P Sorry you had the rough night.
Last couple of days I haven't eaten as well as I could have - good food but too many calories and too many snacks sneaking in. I was at 180 midweek but bounced back to previous weight.
The tendon in my right foot is tight and doesn't want to lengthen/release properly and it feels like that cranky joint has some nerves compressed (ouch). I'm walking slowly with a cane and it has made exercise very difficult. I can't stand on my foot for very long or walk far. So I've had a pretty big setback in my exercise goals. Usually I walk every evening and work outside but I haven't been able to do that, although I can ride my stationary bike okay.
Yesterday on the way home we were stopped in the road by elk, and a big bull beside the car bugled. It was really cool to see up close. There are a lot of elk this year.
