My partner in crime (Jasper) got me extra steps today. He was far far away down the last hill of his pasture, and was really thrilled to see me once I got there! Would he climb up to meet me? Heck NO! Then we had a great time grooming, working, munching carrots - I missed the silly fella. It is good to be back.6

@wishfuljune I love Abbey Sharp's content on youtube, I'll have to look into her recipes!
Work was pretty busy for me so I'm glad I stuck to my dinner plan and got a walk in despite getting home later than usual. I probably walked further than I should have with my foot. Ugh. Hope I didn't set it back any. Work will be a lot tomorrow and Friday but I am looking forward to another peaceful autumn weekend.
Arm workout yesterday was a good one, I almost pushed it to today since my time of the month was hitting me hardddd, but I rallied after dinner and got it done. Glad I was able to rest today but I should stretch out my shoulders and neck before bed.
@Gidgitgoescrzy acid like that fruit juice combined WITH the alcohol - would not surprise me if that is the culprit of your trouble. I find there are a lot of things I can't mix with alcohol anymore without stomach trouble at a minimum (like heavy dairy in my case). I also started getting some mild acid reflux in the pandemic times - my GP suggested taking Pepcid regularly before eating or drinking.
Gosh it's bedtime.3 -

@ashleycarole86 - Wednesday, October 18th - 7,716 steps, 35 minutes of spin, bowling league in the evening (I don't know if I should count this because my watch at some point told me to get up and moving)
I woke up feeling pretty crummy today. Another mild sinus headache. However, I did have a decent amount of sugar yesterday because work is where I am stashing all the bowling tournament candy and I find it hard to resist. The tournament ends this weekend and then I will be able to give away the rest of it!4 -
Behind on posts but will catch up soon.
Today is our fourth wedding anniversary so we are off to celebrate now.
We have had a commitment every night this week - events with friends, retirement parties, soccer.. so yeah, there's been no free time to say the least.

Happy Anniversary Ashley and Brad!!! Wow! You were just married when you started with us. Didn’t realize that. Wishing you both so much happiness and adventures. ❤️🎉🥂2

I think my Fitbit isn’t tracking step’s correctly. I danced around and walked and moved and there were only a few step. Not sure why it’s doing that. It’s only a few months old. I am losing faith in their product. And yet, I depend on it. Boo!!
Logged all that went in my mouth. Turned down a birthday cupcake at school today. Proud of that. Went out to lunch with DH and only ate half of my sandwich. Some 💦 but not enough yet. I don’t think I will make my 7k steps today.
@jugar Thanks for the hugs 🤗!!❤️4 -
What a gang - bowling tournament, wedding anniversary, a turned-down cupcake (=a great self-care event!), and some great workouts - all right!
We have been continuing our home repairs and trying to clear out more stuff before winter. I sold 2 IKEA furniture pieces that have lived in the basement for a few years. Unfortunately, their pieces had gotten rather mixed together and they are the same colour Luckily, the guy who bought one of them is patient and figured out what was what, complete with pictures, and we'll get it straightened out tomorrow morning before I bring the other one to its new home. I think it might all work out! I'm glad they're out of the basement in any case.
Friday line-up time already? Wow. Here's what's due:

@bowens1973 and @ashleycarole86 happy anniversary!!! awesome shot
Doozy of a tabata workout for me tonight. Today really got away from me. Work was very busy - not stressful - but just a lot to get done and I didn't have lunch until almost 4pm. It's now 11:30pm and I never had dinner! I have to eat a little something before I try to sleep, but I certainly won't hit my protein goal today. I did really enjoy my lunch - a frozen butter chicken from Wegman's, my most beloved grocery store chain. It was shockingly good for frozen aisle indian food! Will be picking up more.
Now someone put me to bed!!5 -

Definitely trending in the right direction. I had my dietitian appointment this past week and we talked about knowing my hunger cues and some tips on how to volume eat. She suggested buying one of those party veggie platters to have precut veggies ready to snack on, as well as diet jello for when that sweet craving hits.
@bowens1973 and @ashleycarole86 - Happy Anniversary! Aren’t October weddings just the best?
This weekend is also my 2nd wedding anniversary and we’ve got a lot going on. So my dietitian and I came up with a game plan: choose either an appetizer or dessert (not both) and be mindful of drink calories.
So last night at the podcast recording, I knew I wanted one of the theater’s warm chocolate chip cookies, so I had one and one beer. We also ate dinner at home which helped keep my calories overall in check. ✅
This morning started with a great spin class and I’ve pre-logged my meals. Tonight we’re going to a comedy show and then drinks after, so I’ll make sure to pick one drink I really want. Maybe if they also offer mock-tails, I’ll have one of those to monitor my alcohol intake.
Saturday, my in laws will be visiting and we have dinner reservations before we go see a show, and then they want to go out for breakfast on Sunday morning. I’ve planned for a pilates workout tomorrow morning before they arrive which will bring me to 170 minutes, then Sunday I will do a yoga routine for 200 total exercise minutes.7 -
@Gidgitgoescrzy Congrats on hitting the new decade.
The 160's is where I want to get back to... inspiring to see you hit it this week! You go girl4 -
@wishfuljune
Your anniversary weekend sounds like a lot of fun - enjoying the celebration of your love!
What is a live podcast recording like? Just what it sounds like?
Thanks for all the nice wishes for our anniversary. Yes @micki48 it wasn't long after we got married that Brad and I realized we needed to make some changes. Both of us face similar struggles and I think the last year has taught us that we are really always going to have a hard time.. we let our guard down too much and we lost our control but we never lost sight of this group or being on MFP and I think that counts for a lot.
Having said that my weight is up from too much celebrating. There have been retirement parties, work events, our anniversary, trips to Vegas.. you name it, we've used it as an excuse for eating. The days at home to offset the excess aren't enough. So, a different strategy must be employed.
I always knew my COVID isolation practices were great for that lifestyle but were going to face challenges when I got back into the world and I guess it was a self-fulfilling prophecy. This is a learning journey and you just have to test new things.6 -

Staying with the group and on MFP even while you were struggling definitely counts for a lot!
@ashleycarole86 & @bowens1973 - I know I'm a little late to the game, but happy anniversary! Beautiful hike picture, too!
@wishfuljune - happy anniversary to you as well!
@micki48 - I was a diehard Fitbit user until my last one started dying after only an hour or two and was less than a year old. When I did research on that issue, I discovered it with other issues are starting to become the normal for Fitbit. So, I switched to Garmin and so far love it! It's only been about two months, but so far everything about it has been great. It even has more tracking options than Fitbit does. I'm not suggesting that you need to switch tracking devices, but if you decide to start looking into something different, I would recommend Garmin.

Slinking into a new decade. I'll try not to scare it away next week.5 -
Friday weigh in. On time. How about that. Although my Saturdays have been lower.
PW 214
CW 212.9 Yay! 😀
I’m off today. Getting some self care things done. I sat down to breakfast and had to laugh. Took this photo and sent it to my daughter and asked, “What’s wrong with this picture?” Her response was, “NOTHING!” It really is true.
So I started reading and a few things jumped out at me that I wanted to share. It was about how this journey to health cannot be about all or nothing.
We should set goals. But, It’s not just about the goals, but about celebrating progress along the way.
Taking time to celebrate small wins (even if it’s saying no to one little cupcake) helps us build new habits and attain better results.
You are beautiful, strong, gifted and worthy just as you are right now in this moment. (You don’t have to hit some magic number or size)
It spoke to me and I thought maybe it may speak to you right now as well.
Yes, I did eat that donut from a special bakery we went to yesterday, but I am not going to let it derail me for the rest of the day. 🙂
Ashley and Brad, I know you can do this! You have a busy, active life. But you also have so many tools in your toolkit. You just need to rearrange them and see how to make this work. I have been amazed at your progress and though you may not be where you want to be, you are not where you started.
Happy Anniversary to you both and to @wishfuljune

@ashleycarole86 - Thursday, October 19th - 5,821 steps - So close to hitting my step goal, just didn't have the energy at the end of the night to make it happen. Today will be better.

I focused more on moving and eating healthy this week but did not do so great with the water.
I'm heading to dinner tomorrow with a friend of mine that is here from Canada. I just hope I can stay in control. When you start talking and munching, it's easy to lose track of what's going in your mouth (and how much). To top it off, she loves to order at least 3 or 4 appetizers for the table BEFORE dinner so she can try different things out while she's here.5 -
Exercise catchup:
Oct 14 - 4783 steps + 78 minutes Peloton
Oct 15 - 10013 steps
Oct 16 - 5207 steps
Oct 17 - 18334 steps
Oct 18 - 12612 steps
Oct 19 - 5610 steps
Love the pic and the reflections @micki48 and the faith in Brad and I as well. You are right that the toolkit is there for us. I'm glad he's back on the team as we do better when making wise decisions is at the top of both of our minds.
Hope everyone has a fantastic weekend. I'll be back shortly with a step report.5 -

Pretty much! You’re just watching the hosts live as they’re going through the discussion. The live shows usually have a lot more content and fun things (like games or animations) that the podcast won’t have.

What a great step report! 10 5K races apiece - we are smokin' I absolutely love all the ties - so much good exercise in there! I still have not got a new step counter watch thingy yet. Sorry! I'll be back eventually.
Today I had a fantastic trail ride with Jasper. He is just such a happy young thing it's contagious when we travel along together. He was full of beans today - enjoying being out in the wind, even with some rain. He did have a little bucking episode out of the sheer joy of running. He hasn't been out on a trail ride since before my trip to Alberta, so I think he was just getting a little too happy for a minute there. We were going up a hill, so no harm done - and he came right back to earth like a gent. Yeee hah!
Thank you for your beautiful reminders @micki48 - the journey has to be full of good feelings, even if that makes the path meander a lot. Just controlling the behaviour is not enough - the willpower wears right out. Changing the knowledge (learn some stuff and experiment on ourselves), feeding on enough food to give the best feelings, and on other nourishment when food will make bad feelings, finding ways to move that also feel good -- that all takes lots of meandering! I'm glad you're all on this journey with me.
Good luck on your dinner with the hungry Canadian @leni1us ! Think of good ways to say no and practice your lines! No harm in leaving things on a plate. The company is the best part3 -
Sorry I'm late - but I also want to wish @bowens1973 and @ashleycarole86 and @wishfuljune a happy anniversary.

Wrong direction, dang it! Earlier this month when I first had Covid, I got a bit lower and then we moved a lot less but got our appetites back and took a lot of naps. Hmmm…bad combo. Getting back into condition takes a while. I can relate to needing more water and veggies. I’ll be heading to my daughter’s in central Vermont Saturday morning (later this morning, I guess!) and plan to cook with much less salt than my OH does. I’ll get back to the next decade down soon.
Happy everything, amazing teammates!
Here’s to a new week…heck, almost a new month - wowza!4 -
And sure enough my Saturday weight is less. It’s a pound lower. We’ll keep it as I posted but I may wait til next Saturday to post my weight just to see if this is really a thing.
How is everyone doing today? What positive talk have you given yourself?
Have a great one! 👍🏻2 -
My positive thought today is "every moment is a chance to make a good decision"
I tend to get fixated in mistakes of the past but they depress me and then I eat or do other self-sabotaging behaviors. Thinking about the present is helpful for me.
Thanks @YinxFed ❤️
@jugar we'll be glad to have you back when your tech allows it! Your numbers are always so inspiring3
