@MaddawgMadsen keep that fabulous energy going! outrun that bug!
some beautiful green appearing - well done @littlemzkitty and @lauren_9892 -
Still watching baseball here in Philadelphia.
Logged my food. Slightly over. Water good. Met my step goal. Over 7k.
Finally got my foot and hip X-ray. Nothing remarkable as far as I can tell. My hip joint is good and the report says joint space well maintained. So that’s good. Looking like PT in my future. My foot appointment is Thursday. The X-ray shows a gnarly degenerative arthritis growth on my big toe. Not sure if that’s it or there’s more. Hopefully find out more at visit.
Just got my cute granddaughter’s kindergarten photo and had to share. Isn’t she cute?

checking in - thankfully it will be an earlier night for me. hoping to be fast asleep in the next 30 minutes.
my workouts have been good this week - still modifying for my foot but getting the heartrate up anyways! tomorrow is a walking day but I have to rein myself in and not overdo it like I did last week. 30 minutes at the absolute most.
this weekend I have friends visiting for a bday celebration and I am baking a cake. It will be a lot of food and not all of it healthy but I don't plan to drink. Trying to run as tight a ship as I can this week to lessen the blow that will likely be my weigh in next friday haha.
@MaddawgMadsen glad you are feeling good and keeping the energy up!
@micki48 not so glad to hear about your foot arthritis - hopefully they will have a solid treatment plan for you. Juliet looks adorable! (if I am remembering her name right!)
goodnight friends1 -
@micki48 that is one fabulous photo - she is growing up so much! Good news about the hip - and physio will certainly make a difference. I hope there is some silver lining in the foot news, though. Gnarly never sounds good when it comes to bones...
OK - quick update! Weigh-ins due through Wednesday:

Well, that was a short-lived visit to the 160's... I am packing a bigger suitcase this week, cause next week I am getting there, and staying there...
I have made a decision; I am going off my hormone replacement therapy... Cross your fingers I have a successful transition.
@Micki48 Your granddaughter is just adorable... Sorry about your toe, hope they can fix you right up !

Oh my goodness.. I am dying of cuteness overload.. she's amazing!!
Well I'm writing this from my commute in.. it's been almost 1.5 hours... the roads are terrible and everything is crawling.
I'm exhausted because soccer was late and I didn't make it home until almost midnight. We had fun but lost. I was working from home yesterday due to weather and even with soccer my steps missed my 10K goal. Office definitely helps me keep my movement up.4 -

@ashleycarole86 - Tuesday, October 24 - 9,353 steps, 1 hour CrossFit
Yesterday was a LONG day. At 7pm I was finally ready to think about dinner as I was driving home. The first success was convincing myself to find something at the store or eat leftover chicken and rice soup instead of eating out. The next success happened at the store when I bypassed a low carb pizza (it had over 1,100 calories!!) and almond flour cookies for Mary's crackers to go with the leftover soup and an apple for dessert. So, instead of eating out, getting something loaded with calories from the store, or having dessert, I went home to eat homemade chicken and rice soup with crackers, and was so full I didn't need the apple dessert. Oh, and no alcohol. Alcohol as a support/crutch/coping mechanism didn't even cross my mind. My weight may be up from last week, but if I can have more successful days like yesterday, I don't think it will stay that way long.
I woke up feeling drained today, so I did not go to spin class. More sleep was definitely needed! When I did get up, my dog chugged so much water that he made himself puke all over his crate, down the hallway, and in front of the bedroom door. Sick dog, sick husband, and sick roommate. What a way to start the day! At least I still feel okay. I have a little sinus headache, but other than that feel fine.
@jugar - speaking of sinus headaches, I did some research on foods to avoid if you have sinus issues. Wouldn't you know it, processed sugar was the top of every list. Other items - dairy, alcohol, and gluten. They also all mentioned that living in high altitude places (I'm at 6,300 ft or 1,920 m elevation) and changing weather patterns can aggravate sinus issues. Interestingly enough, I kind of knew all of this just from life experience, but it's nice to read documentation on it.
@Micki48 - that is a fantastic picture of your granddaughter. What a cutie!3 -

Sorry, it has been a busy, busy week. Hope everyone is doing well.3 -
Thanks for all the comments on Juliet. She is my ❤️.
Had an hour and a half long meeting after school then almost an hour to drive home. Was so hungry. Hubby said McDonald’s and so it was. Not a great choice, but I was tired and gave in without a hesitation. Oh well. Not the end of the world.
I need to get in a few hundred more steps to hit my goal today. Still need to log.
Actually feel like I could go to sleep right now and it’s only 8pm.
Keep at it friends. We’ve got this.3 -

@ashleycarole86 - Wednesday, October 25th - 5,096 steps
Not my best step day, but not bad considering I didn't get to my spin class or bowling league.
My OH had a scheduled doctor's appointment yesterday to go over blood work done last week.
I have to take a quick second to say how proud I am of him because all the numbers that needed to go down (BP, cholesterol, LDL, weight, etc) went down and all the numbers that needed to go up, went up. He was sent home with a BP cuff that he is to use daily to see if he can be weened off of the BP medication he has been on since he turned 30!
So, while he was there, they decided to test for the flu and covid since he has been sick since Monday. Positive for covid. I still feel fine. Zero symptoms. So, I am still going to work, limiting my contact with other people, and wearing a mask when needed. The reason for no bowling last night was because I told the team that he tested positive and they asked that I not come. Also, I am skipping my workouts because I don't want to run the risk of infecting an entire class if I have it without symptoms. I will get back to it on Monday.4 -
I think my brain has some kind of self-sabotage mechanism. just typing or thinking "I want to have a good/solid weigh-in this week" seems to lead to worse choices. So last night was some of the worst eating I've had in probably 2-3 weeks. Does not feel good!!! I got into bed early and just lazed around on my phone too so it felt like a kind of regressive night with some "depressed" moody habits. Something to watch...
On the bright side, I did keep my walk to 30 minutes and I think my foot did pretty well.4 -

My weight has come down from a spike at the start but I suspect I'll have another drop if I wait another day. Oh well, I have been tracking and closing my diary under the past few days and it feels so good to have that consistency back.
@jugar Brad is on the road again so his weigh-in will be a day late3 -
@Kali225 I can relate to your way of thinking because I have it too! It's tiring to fight against it and I was doing my best when I had found a way to work with it... clearly haven't found my way back there yet.2

I think we were on the same wavelength yesterday! Seriously a day of way too much eating of badly chosen foods. Today has been a good straight and narrow one - how about you? I don't know why those days happen, especially when things have been going well, but if it is just one ridiculous day, there is no lasting sabotage! Look at what brought on the bad choices, remember how they made you feel, and hopefully next time will be easier to avoid. It was one day. Not terrible - they happen! Hugs flying your way.4 -
@ashleycarole86 tracking and closing under - this is great progress!
@MaddawgMadsen I hope you keep covid free - and congrats to your OH for great progress and improvement. I hope he feels better soon.
I had a good day today - back on better track for food for sure, and had a nice long ride this morning and a good Pilates session this afternoon. I have finally been back to doing Pilates every day again - it feels good. It includes some good strength building for all parts of the body, but I'll also get back to adding more kettlebell or other weight exercise in there too.
Friday coming up! Let's see how many numbers can get reported by the end of Friday:

and me too - I was up 0.2 over my top maintenance weight yesterday, so I hope I'm back into my "goal zone" tomorrow...

Friday weigh-in

Today I'm re-committing to logging my food. 'Trusting myself' or playing by eye isn't working and I've been making a lot of bad choices recently.
I'm really struggling health wise. Was unwell a lot of last year, finally diagnosed with a parathyroid adenoma which messed my system up. Had surgery to remove it in February and have been given a clean bill of health since. But for whatever reason I just don't feel myself. At 41, I feel old. I used rk be a bundle of energy, enjoyed a good workout and adrenaline rush. Now I just about manage to keep house and work and feel exhausted all of the time. My bones hurt and my sleep is so-so. But blood work says all is good. I'm so frustrated. I'm hoping that losing weight will help but it's a cycle of 'I need to lose weight but I haven't got the mental energy to do it'.
Anyway enough of me venting, must just bite the bullet and get on with it.5 -

Couldn't hold onto the new decade, but glad it wasn't a worse jump up since the eating just wasn't on point this week.
@jugar yesterday wasn't great choices for me so I am going to try to get back on the wagon today.
I had a long day of work and couldn't rally for my workout - I took a very late 30 min walk instead. My foot was okay. I'm not too stressed about missing a workout in the challenge - I can do it today and move today's to tomorrow, or just skip the one from yesterday altogether - it was very HIIT style that didn't seem great for my foot and I won't beat myself up if I miss one workout out of 24 in the 6 weeks.
I need breakfast. Maybe protein pancakes today since it's finally Friday.4 -

Food-wise, there is a lot to learn about how we can improve inflammation, help build muscle back so that our body composition is working better for us, etc. Unfortunately, there are as many theories as stars in the sky, so it is not easy to know what's what until we try. I know it isn't easy, but starting with an elimination-style diet for a short time, and then adding foods back in temporarily to really feel their effects can work well. Back many years ago, I did the "whole 30" as an elimination program (hated it with a passion), but the adding back in part of it was revelatory. I have since kept grains to a minimum (it's a struggle sometimes), legumes and high fibre foods to a maximum, and it has made it much easier to feel good and keep the weight off. I am mostly vegetarian, but eat fish - land animal proteins and eggs do not do well for me, but other people find those proteins super helpful.
Whatever you try, you are your own best experiment, and even just tracking your intake and noting whenever you feel particularly good or bad is going to help. All this long blabla to encourage you and hope wish you the very best next steps! You are strong, even though you don't feel it at the moment.

From last Thursday - Monday, I had either eaten out or gotten a drink somewhere in celebration of my anniversary which was so much fun. I did my best to track using restaurant data in the app, so it was probably as accurate as I could have been. I’m just glad to see the number isn’t terribly higher.
So it’s time to get back on track! I had two days this week where I hit my goal of staying between 1700-1750 calories, and hoping to also have today be a third day where I’m within that goal based on what I have pre-logged already.
I completed a 30-minute full body HIIT workout that left me sweating this morning before work, and I have a Taylor Swift themed spin class tomorrow morning. I hope they play some of the new 1989 (Taylor’s Version) songs.4 -

I just read this and liked the feel of it so much, I want to share it with you -
"My biggest lesson from the last 2 years of self improvement (weight loss and living alcohol free) is that the more I learn about myself - the more I realise there is to learn.
And then I start to understand that the transformation is not really in my body shape and what I eat and drink and how much I exercise. These are just (very welcome) manifestations of the real transformation which is me showing forgiveness and understanding to myself and being honest with myself, and getting to know me and accepting me and being me."
Have a great weekend!5 -

Not much movement but I'll take it. I ate out with friends 3 times this week and my choices weren't the best but they were small in size. It was mostly appetizers and lots of water. Let's see what this week brings.3
