The Philadelphia Flower Show was gorgeous. Here are some photos.
I have so many more but I don’t want to bombard you. The rest of the week was full of rain, kids who couldn’t get outside, Grandparents’ Day, a class musical performance, a broken car, and a day off. The the short version. I like that the scale was down.
Here is one more photo of me and my bestie (for 46 years) at the flower show. We made our flower rings. I’m on the right.

LOVE the pics @micki48
Looks like you had a great day and lovely to see your smiling face!2 -
I do not think I have ever seen that many flowers @micki48 !!! The amount of work that must have gone into making all those displays is seriously impressive. The feast of scents must have been amazing too. So glad you and your friend could enjoy such a beautiful exhibit
And having an impressively green weigh-in certainly impresses too!3 -

Oof.
Pretty bad results this week, team. Let's turn this red tide around! I know you can do it!1 -
@micki48 look at you in your flower crown! Great to see your radiant smile. How lucky to have a longtime friend, as well being bombarded with blossoms and blooms!
We just received a heavy, wet snow blanket. We’re really not that far along in our actual “springtime” here in Vermont - the famous “fat lady” hasn’t sung, yet!
I’m working on consistency over the next 2-weeks, aiming for 12 out of 14 days of walking at least 8K. Combined with eating at a calorie deficit, I’ll see better results, I’m sure. I’ll keep you posted!
Have a good rest of the weekend, y’all.4 -
@jugar The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society has been holding this flower show since 1829. People come from everywhere. I went as a child and I still go. It is a sensory experience like none other. It’s worth a visit if flowers and gardening is your thing or even if you just like pretty things.
Today I need to make sure to get my steps in and log my food. I’m making a list of what I need to do. Move, move, move. I think I heard someone here say (maybe) that motion is lotion. I need that lubrication in my joints.
Time to move. I still need to read the 4 pages I missed so far this month.3 -
I forgot to remind the Sunday folks, as always! Here you are, wonderful weekly firsts:

Guys, I really can't explain it! Apart from only managing one workout this week due to my back being so beastly to me, I haven't done anything different this past week compared to the week before. I'm really sorry! I so much wanted to be in the 170s before the end of Q1 2024. Instead, I've just left a trail of red in my wake!
And to add insult to injury (why DO we say that?) I was in so much pain with my back that I haven't even been able to start the Medium #75 challenge! I feel like a great big giant slug!
Thankfully, @micki48 your photos of the Philadelphia Flower Show were extremely restorative to my current mood. Some of your pictures are breathtakingly beautiful. And to see you with your BFF in your flower crowns and your gorgeous smiles - well, even writing it down brings a smile to my own face. Thank you!
And the good news is:
- I feel rejuvenated and I'm determined to make this new week sparkle!
- I will be leaving my lecturing job this week and feel a combination of fear, relief and excitement.
- I have much to be grateful for
- I'm not alone
I'll be back later with my step and exercise stats.

Kudos first! You have been going through many things, and your back hurts! Pain is not the best ingredient for lowering stress, feeling good about things, or weight loss success, that's for sure.
But! You can explain the trail of red. It is not about exercise, especially in times when exercise is impossible or difficult because of pain or injury. It is diet. You need to change that up - if you can't burn it, you have to cut back on eating it. It is a tough truth sometimes, but small adjustments can really add up. Track carefully, lower your totals for the day, try cutting certain "triggery" items - I know you can do this! You are strong even when not lifting weights
PS you are NOT a slug! You are a person taking care of an aching back - way different. And less slimy.

Steps week of 3/2-3/9
I didn’t hit my 7k goal every day, but made it a point to not be under 5k so there’s that. 🙂
@YinxFed Thank you for the lovely compliment. I’m so glad it brought a smile to your face. Wishing you the best as your lecturer position winds down and hoping your back improves every day.7 -
Brad and I got back on the Peloton yesterday after almost a month off. We were busy with his birthday, road trips, work that is beyond stressful, and then Jamaica.. but we never meant for almost a month to go by. Eek! I am trying to ride 2024 miles this year and I have A LOT of catching up to do.
We also did a 10 minute arm strength session yesterday and realized we'd been slacking on that way too much.. it was hard!
It's hard not to feel discouraged when you realize how much fitness you've lost BUT it gives us a good starting place. Every workout helps.6 -

We have been mighty quiet this week - everyone is busy! I hope a nice relaxing weekend is in store for you all. I had a good sunny day, hit all my 75 medium hard goals, and had a good training session with Jasper. He was in a mellow mood today, and we worked on balance and rhythm. And cantering, which is still a challenge for both balance and rhythm! And tonight I put in a good 10 miles on the exercise bike while watching ruthless lawyers with complicated lives and a good soundtrack.
Ready for Saturday? Let's get all these numbers piled up and put away!
@adrimango - I hope you're still with us! check in please or ask for some time off if needed.

My hubby and I have been sick 😷 so I’m afraid last week didn’t go very well. We did make it to the gym this morning. I feel more on the mend than he does.
It is crazy how fast your body can feel a change when you are in bed for several days.

@ashleycarole86 I would like to adjust my step goal (if it works like this) is 10,000 steps before any add on for exercise. If that's too hard, let me know what I averaged this week for steps after exercise 😄
It is amazing how much easier it is to stop a habit (exercise) than starting! I bet you and Brad can get right back into a routine!
@ChelleChelle1031 I hope you are feeling better!
@YinxFed I hope your back feels better soon!
I got home from my hike this morning and took a nap, read some of my book, and did a yoga stretch video. I feel like it will be an early bedtime tonight. Time change always messes with me!we got so much rain, the trail flooded and some didn't make it back!

@ChelleChelle1031 Ugh! Get well quick! We miss your wonderful energy in here You are sure right how fast things can change with a few days in bed - but you'll be back in the swing soon, I'm willing to bet.
Applause for @lauren_989 @CupcakeCrusoe and @EvMakesChanges ! We did not have a great week as a team, but you all led the way and got us some good green! Let's work towards 50% green for this week
We had a big wet snow today and more coming, so I just stayed home today, took a long walk in the wet woods, and hit my goal for strength workout. Gotta venture out tomorrow to pester Jasper. I just found a set of cool exercises we can do with ground poles - he loves poles. We have not tried these ones yet, so it will be an adventure.
I'm going to try to get to bed somewhat earlier than usual tonight, since I don't want to sleep late in the morning with this annoying time change! So here is the reminder for tonight -

@strong_fit_ells adorable addition to the family. A pup always keeps you busy and active.
@micki48 stunning flower show.

Good morning Team, I do not like time change, I was enjoying driving to work during the sunrise, now I am driving to work in the dark again...
Went on a lovely hike yesterday, it was super windy and muddy though, I do not know how I did it, but I had mud up above my knee, and I didn't even jump in any puddles this time!
I am working to get my snacking under control, so I am going to pre-log my food for the day, I haven't logged food in probably 2 years, but I think it's time to start.
@micki48 Love the flowers, do you ever go to Longwood Gardens ? That is my favorite place.
Have a great day !

Hi team - I have not been helping us out lately, and I am sorry for that. But, I feel like I am finally on the mend from mom being in the hospital, being sick, and somewhat from moving. We still have some stuff to get out of the old house and all the cleaning.
@strong_fit_ells - ADORABLE puppy! I almost want to show my husband, but then I'm afraid we would be getting another dog. Good job getting through the puppy stage. It's a lot of work, but I hope you are enjoying it!
@micki48 - those are GORGEOUS flowers! You are lucky to have a great friend for so long and one that can join you for events like that!
@YinxFed - I am so sorry to hear about the back pain! That can be a serious movement killer. I hope you can adjust your diet for a while and slowly get back to your exercising.
@jugar - terrible week indeed. I'm back in it and hopefully can post a loss this week. Hopefully our teamwork this week will make the dream work!2 -
@ashleycarole86 - Monday, March 4 - 6,699 steps
Tuesday, March 5 - 7,991 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit
Wednesday, March 6 - 5,387 steps
Thursday, March 7 - 5,420 steps
Friday, March 8 - 10,506 steps
Saturday, March 9 - 6,312 steps
Sunday, March 10 - 6,761 steps
I missed my step goal on two days, but my average over the last week is 7,010 steps/day, and since that is 1,000 steps greater than my goal, I will count the week as a win. Especially considering I only made it to the gym one day. Being sick has really hindered my exercising goals; however, moving into a new house has really helped the step goals.3 -
@lauren_989
I can make that work, no problem!
As an aside.. you really crushed your workouts in week 1! Bravo
I have rode the Peloton three days in a row and two of those three days included some upper body strength as well. It really really feels great.

@Gidgitgoescrzy I know what you mean about the time change. I could not wake up this morning! I was only 5 minutes late to work 🙈
@ashleycarole86 I started the 75 hard challenge and so with 2, 45 minute workouts daily, my steps have gone way up!
I was tired all day today. It's just an hour, but it completely messes me up!4 -
@lauren_989 such pretty pics! poor fish....
@ashleycarole86 3 days in a row on the Peloton is awesome! bouncing back to good habits
@ChelleChelle1031 feel better!
I had a really solid Monday. Work was finally somewhat quiet, knock on wood, I got a bunch of little administrative tasks done and left right on time. Got home to bake a quiche from scratch, which is really tasty. I did an upper body workout and now I am getting into bed with a book I got from the library that has really grabbed me. SO nice to be back to commuting by train instead of the dreadful buses. So much easier to read!!5
