HOW IT ALL WORKS: The April challenge runs for four weeks, from March 31 - April 27.
Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!
We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get April rolling!

Welcome to April 2024!
I am Liselyn, co-captain along with @ashleycarole86. I live in rural Québec, and I'm a retired university professor of music. It was not until I was 58 that I got really serious with both food and exercise. As of October, I hit 11 years on maintenance, always refining and making sure I don't have to do it all over again. Yes, it is possible to lose weight and get in shape after menopause!
I know there are people on this team who have a lot to lose, others who have lost a lot and are closing in on their goals, and some who might be working on losses that are stubbornly resisting. There is much wisdom here, and the most important lesson we learn from each other time and time again is that it is not a straight shot, there will be trials and errors, and sticking with it when it feels like you have fallen off yet again is the best thing you can do for yourself. Plateaus can be good, but going back the way you came is not!
Some helpful information/tools:
Posting your daily updates
We know from experience that posting daily (or as often as you can!) makes a huge difference to your success. Use any format you like to let everyone know how you are doing on your daily goals and habits. You can report on food, exercise, water, sleep, or whatever you are tracking and trying to stick with. While you're there, talk about how you are, ask questions, and if you can answer someone else, please do! Congratulate others, commiserate, enjoy someone's rant, or go ahead and rant yourself. It all helps make the kind of community where we are in each others' heads when the hand is reaching for that off-plan snack, or the couch is feeling way too inviting...
Weighing in
Please try to weigh in on time (but don't sweat it if you have to use a different day sometimes)! Put your weigh in at the TOP of a message, so it is clear and easy to find. If you cannot post your weight for whatever reason, you can request a week off, or if you need a longer break, you can be moved to the "Support Team" where you still participate but your weigh-ins will not be part of the weekly tally. This is where members who are ill, on vacation, or just needing a break can hang out for as long as needed.
The F2F Habit Tracker
If you want a simple place to track your most important habits, give this a try. You can see how your teammates are doing too The link and how-to info are under "Announcements" on the main F2F page, or click here:
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10912625/habit-tracker-april-2024#latest
So everyone, tell us a bit about you, your goals, what steps you are going to work on. It's fun to know your name and where you live (if you're willing to share that), what brought you here, how your weight loss journey has been, and where you are headed now. We're going to work hard together and enjoy ourselves

Hi Emma! We have another member in PA - if you're in Philly you two could meet up maybe! It's fun to see where everyone is from. You can see the whole team on the stats spreadsheet here - scroll to the right after all the numbers and you'll see everyone's name and where they're from.
I hope you'll find a lot of inspiration, ideas, and support in here. It is so hard to keep up the momentum, but you are off to a great start. 15 pounds is impressive! Keeping it off is hard, but it sounds like you have the determination to keep going. I hear you on the sugary foods - they can sure get the auto-pilot style eating going. Never hesitate to hit the panic button and ask in here for quick ideas if you are finding your control slip a bit Glad you're here!4 -
Hi everyone! My name is Ashley and I'm your co-captain alongside @jugar
For those that are interested, we have an optional step challenge that runs in parallel. If you want to join:
-provide me your daily step pledge (this should reflect your daily target including exercise minutes converted to steps)
-every Sunday, provide me your steps and exercise minutes (and what the activity was) for the week before
That's it! Any questions, please ask.
Now, a little about me. I am a busy working professional who is married to fellow teammate @bowens1973
We have no kids, one dog, two cats, and my mother who isn't in the greatest health living in the basement with her dog.
Our common interest is the Peloton when it comes to exercise. We like hiking and walking the dog as well.
I struggle a lot with the mental side of food and eat for reasons that have nothing to do with hunger. With the support of this group I hit my goal once and felt really great. I've since put on a lot of weight again and am holding on to getting back to losing. On that note, my main goal is to end 2024 lighter than i started. I am about 4 pounds up from that right now so I am working on that.
Check in daily, share what works, and get to know your fellow teammates! Good luck with April5 -
Hello! I'm Adrianne, just turned 47, married, mom of a 13 year old living in the mountains of North Carolina, USA. I dropped out of this group but am back!
The last couple of months have been hectic. I’ve had a lot of business travel and been navigating high school enrollment for my daughter. We've had a death in the family that revealed some shocking family secrets and created some drama (and travel). Perimenopause has come on hard too.
I'm committing to my wellness in a big way this Spring. I'm adopting the Galveston Protocol to help deal with inflammation, hormone imbalance, and extra weight.
My weigh-in day will be Monday @Jugar.
I so appreciate the support and inspiration of this group. Life keeps pulling me away but it's time I put my wellbeing first.

Hey Everyone!
My name is Lauren, I am 37 years old, living in North Carolina. I have been trying to lose weight my whole adult life and it's definitely been a yoyo course.
I have seem to be maintaining over the last few months, gaining and losing the same weight. I have to agree with @ashleycarole86 as it is a huge mental game for me. I go through short periods with bursts of motivation and then binge 2 weeks later. My goal every month seems to be consistency...I know what works (tracking my food) and just need to keep with it. I don't think I have tracked in almost 2 weeks 🙈
I hope everyone has a great month! Welcome to the new team members!5 -

Welcome back @adrimango
Sounds like you've been through a lot since we heard from you last... so glad to have you back!
On another note... how the heck is it already almost April?
I walked the dog and got on the Peloton today! Exercise goals met. Woo hoo.4 -
We're officially "April" now! What are your goals and strategies for this month? Get specific and let's track things and see what works2

Happy Easter, Team!
Sunday weigh-in -
PW - 186.4
CW - 186.3
Just a smidgen to the left in other words! And green!
I'll be back later with my stats.
TTFN2 -
I just finished doing all the stats for March. As you will see later when the results are posted here, we trailed way behind for the month! All 5 teams together lost 100 pounds in March, but we only contributed 0.4 pounds to that total.
We can do better! Out of the doldrums, folks - there are a hundred reasons why! We want to feel great, develop the choices that lead to feeling great, and take amazing care of ourselves. Be kind to the inner self that chooses to stuff things down or go for the easy buzz of easy calories, but work a bit more consistently on the new paths that will help that inner self see that there is a better way. Encourage each other, get in here and let's see how well we can do in April.
I have been struggling with overeating in March too. I am making good food choices for the most part, but just having too much. I'm going back to pre-logging and working on my stop. Just like my horse, learning a consistent and reliable Whoa! is super important. I have been slipping, and not paying attention until too late. That's my goal for April. Whoa!
I don't know who Jimmie Adams is (no relation, I'm sure!), but this is the discussion I'll be having with Jasper and myself -3 -

Sorry for missing my weigh in. Life has been hectic. My average weight if you want it for an April starting is 218.8.
I considered going on support because I don’t feel like I’m keeping up. April will be pretty crazy with all this job stuff. May should be better. Or I can just keep popping in like I am now.6 -

Speaking for myself - I would rather continue WITH you than WITHOUT you. And please keep popping in, we love "seeing" you.

So I overate today 🙈 I was about to say not terrible...but it was. I did go for a walk and enjoyed the 80 degree and sunny day! We had a very nice easter dinner and I tried to make some spring cupcakes which turned out pretty well for the first time pipping icing!
@micki48 yes, I love you being here too, no matter how short!
Time to get back on track. I went to body pump yesterday and went for the nice walk today. Tomorrow I will change my eating around. Still having some congestion, but overall feeling better.3 -
@micki48 I agree it is great to have you here even if sporadically, but I am happy to put you on the support team for the month if you want to relieve the pressure of having to weigh in every week. You are still to come in and say hi whenever possible though! If you want to keep weighing in just to keep checking up on yourself, that is great too, and there should be no worry if the numbers are not what you'd wish. May is coming! Let me know which way you'd like to do April.4
-
@lauren_989 Today is one of those days when you can't get too worried about overeating. Tomorrow, though -- that's a different kettle of fish! I'm so glad you're feeling better, and that will surely get your mojo back in gear. Looking forward to it!

And here are people in the "first Sunday trap"
@trudy_eh
@tlcjen12
@RachelSibiya1
When you first signed up, you chose Sunday as your weigh-in day. Now you discover that the very first weigh-in day of the month is Sunday. And that it counts as your Week 1 weigh-in! Yikes!
So what do you do?
There are 2 choices:- Do nothing! I just repeat your starting weight as your Week 1. Then it all works out by the end of the month, and you never have this problem again.
- You revise your starting weight if you know how much you weighed last Sunday (March 24th). A guess is ok! Then you confirm your Sunday the 31st of March weight and that is your Week 1. And you never have this problem again!
I know it is confusing, so don't worry if you just keep your starting weight as your Week 1. Just let me know if you'd like to revise either one. Thanks!

CW: 155.6
PW: 158.8
@jugar - I think I gave you a different starting # yesterday but this one is correct, I checked.
@ashleycarole86 thank you for the warm & understanding welcome back. It's been a wild couple of months and now I'm ready for a fresh start. Happy Spring!
I feel like this week is a false loss - all water due to Aunt Flo overstaying her welcome - and won't stick. I'm working into the Galveston Protocol - intermittent fasting, high protein low carb anti-inflammatory diet, some supplements. I turned 47 last week and want to be active for a long, long time to come. Genetically I'm at high risk for heart & circulation issues, arthritis, and dementia which research is now showing are tied to inflammation. I have scoliosis so this approach should help with my back pain (and so will being active and being at a weight that better suits my frame). Sharing as a reminder to myself of why I'm doing this.
I have 3 crammed days of work then off for a 2 day hiking trip with my 13 yr old.6 -
Happy Monday Team,
It was a blah weekend, but I did exercise both days. My goal this week is to do 30 minutes on the treadmill everyday.
@adrimango I'm also doing the Galveston diet, have been doing it since August of last year, I believe that is what has helped me be successful. We have alot of the same issues, although I am 5 years ahead of you, so I hope it helps you as it did me.
Hi, I'm Vikki. Ive been here for forever, I am 52, married, live in Baltimore, MD - I am fairly close to my goal weight, my highest weight on this journey was 192, although I've had multiple starting weights, lol.
I think I have finally figured out what works for me as far as food, I'm still working on exercise, I just don't like it, but I know I need it. I also know I walk a fine line on it, if I do too much it will stop my weight loss, it took me years to learn this.
Have a great day everyone !
6 -
@adrimango "false" loss or not, it is always good to have a bit of a whoosh sometimes. You are smart to work on reducing inflammation - I wish for you that you can be doing wild things when you reach my age! It is a lot of fun
I'm going to keep trying to do this morning exercise daily. Anyone is welcome to join in when you're needing to set up your day with some useful thinking. Today's fun (or at least stuff!):
What's my mood right now? calm, but slightly worried. about what I have no idea!
Today, I need to address - my new workout. I always find the first week or two hard to get used to a new workout routine. I must remember that it is good! I am waking up new pathways.
I do not want to - waste time.
I absolutely will - get to responding to a request to review some docs and make recommendations.
I refuse to - eat anything made of flour today.
My one piece of advice for myself is - get outside today no matter what!
My one tip for others is - use pauses. They are a great way to think before acting, to walk away from doing something unproductive or useless, or to just take a break in a super busy day. Little pauses. Check in with yourself.
Enjoy the rest of your day!3 -
What's my mood right now? Slightly on edge as I get back into work after three days off.
Today, I need to address - balancing a lot of priorities at home so my week starts off on a successful foot.
I do not want to - stress unnecessarily.
I absolutely will - track my food today.
I refuse to - skip moving my body today.
My one piece of advice for myself is - enjoy the sunshine while it's available to you.
My one tip for others is - focus on facts.3 -
Good afternoon Team!
CW 245lbs
I am so ashamed this morning. I have put on a looot of weight.
Mostly due to alcohol. March wasn't kind to me. I left the job that I liked thinking I will have better life and I did, but I missed the job. I missed feeling needed and helpful. I played with our puppy, spent time with my boys... but ... lets face it, that part time job paid my bills, too. That's why I started stressing. I am in a bit of debt. Losing the £400 a month worried me a little. I was planning to save up from my full time job each week, £100 a put in separate bank account, transfer it at the end of month as if I still got that job's money but its not easy. Having three teenage boys and extra puppy food, insurance etc it all adds up. All the stress meant that I was opening bottle of wine most evenings I need to nip it in the bud!
I went to that high school to pick up my youngest son just before the Easter break. One of the cleaning lady noticed my car parked outside and came up to talk to me. She said how difficult it is being short staffed, nobody wants to work etc, she really isn't coping on her own ... and guess what. I told her I'll come back and help!
They are working tomorrow and Wednesday doing deep cleaning in high school so I agreed to come and help. I spoke that day to one of managers and I offered to help Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays. That gives me still Mondays and Fridays off. I will make it work somehow.
Sorry for mumbling.
Today I took proper weigh in. It is shocking!
I went to get my habbit tracker sorted for the April, too. I enjoyed it in February when I did it then. It kept me on straight and narrow
In three months time I might be able to be 2stones lighter, who knows?
Have a lovely Monday all!

One more from me
Last month I posted that I bought a blootooth bathroom scale which will show different measurements as well. I am not sure how acurate it is, but it just might keep me motivated from now on.
result for today is shocking! 57% Body Fat??
@jugar 2 questions, please
1 Can I please change my weigh in date to Sunday from next week? It is easier for me to weigh in on that day. Sundays are mostly my days out with family so if I have a treat I'll still have a week to redeem myself.
2 Can I please put the bathroom scales photo as my weigh in result. It will really keep me motivated, I hope nobody minds. I would do it as a spoiler and cover it up but I am not sure how to do it? Can someone help, pretty please?
5 -
@ashleycarole86
Can I rejoin step challenge, please?
If I set it as 10,000 to start.
Today will be 0 steps as my fitbit is charging at the moment
Thank you so much4
