Good morning!
Saw your post from yesterday @KateNkognito! Hope you enjoy your pasta! We are having gnocchi for dinner tonight and it is honestly not a terrible calorie hit. Good for you for getting some exercise in, in the AM's. I wish I could do that, but I know I can't wake up any earlier than 6:30am on days I go in to the office. After work is going to have to be it, once we officially rejoin the gym. Since the electric bill was not too too bad, we may do that in the next week or so.
Since I don't learn my lesson about eating fruit after dinner, I had a really yummy white nectarine last night. OMG so good! And yes, I ended up getting up to use the rest room TWICE last night. Argh! So this time, planning to eat fruit only during the day.
I am happy about logging everything and feeling a little more in control and not off the rails like I have been for the last few years basically. I do feel better health wise just by eating "cleaner" and making better choices. BF hopped on the scale this morning and is down SIX POUNDS since last week! Men. LOL He thinks it is water weight but he's happy. I am hoping I have good luck tomorrow AM when I weigh in.
I am in the process of finishing up a lot of stuff that we had bought before starting CICO, so my lunch calories are higher than I would like. Looking forward to when stuff is finished so I can eat some lower calories at that meal and won't have as much "fear" of going above my calorie limit.
Hope you have a good day! See you soon.0 -
@Meghan509 Tempted by the forbidden fruit. It's the oldest story in the book. LOL! Men have it easy with weight loss!
I am getting frustrated with my weight staying the same for about the last year. I am really working on writing EVERYTHING down, just so I can see where the problem is. I am also thinking about changing up the fast schedule to modified ADF. I think I just have to get myself out of my snack routine. That is looking like the problem. But I won't change that until I have gotten good at exercise. One thing at a time, or my brain gets overwhelmed.
Enjoy Friday! I can't believe it is August already. Both my children go back to school in just a couple of weeks.

Good morning!
Oh yes indeed, the forbidden fruit! LOL @KateNkognito! Last night I was smart and had a Chobani Zero Sugar for "dessert" or after dinner. Fruit will be consumed strictly during the day now. No more messing around.
Yes, I know what you mean about tracking and I think that is a big factor in losing weight. A little extra this or that adds up. Last night we had gnocchi and I didn't put any shredded parmesan cheese on mine and that is a first in a long time. That alone is an extra calorie hit.
I hear you about snacks. We were indulging in ice cream and other calorie heavy treats most nights, and after a big meal. Not good for us.
When it comes to snacking I find that if I have it with me (assuming I am at work) and if I get hungry it is there, but if not there's no need to eat it. Stop and think first. Do I need this, like am I really hungry or am I just reaching for it because it is a habit.
I am down 2.8 pounds this morning and I am happy with that. Pretty sure things will be different for me then before when it comes to losing weight since I am dealing with menopause. No TOM still since last October. Once I make it a full twelve months then they say you are in menopause. Can't say I miss the TOM but my knees have been so achy with joint pain. No hot flashes thank g*d. Since I have started eating clean that pain is already less. Interesting.
Been sitting on this page in draft for over an hour! Time to submit. Hope you have a great weekend! See you soon!0 -
@Meghan509 I am so used to having desk snacks for my students. I need to change my thinking.
Glad you are doing well and feeling better already! Congratulations on the upcoming menopause celebration! ๐ฅณ
This week was pretty quick, but today was a long week. ๐ซค Glad for the weekend. Next week is going to be a busy one! Family moving from California to here. We also get to have the little dog across the street for a few days while the neighbors go on vacation. Exciting times!
Going to go and read for a while. I am taking baby steps. I got rid of my mobile games. I only had two, but they were sucking a lot of time. I find myself with more time that I can use for good stuff like taking a walk in the evening. ๐0 -
Happy Monday!
As I start this post it is just shy of noon Eastern, so good morning!
Hope you had a great weekend. Ours was quiet and good but that is how we like it.
Thanks for the congrats on the menopause stuff! Whoot! So close! Can't wait to donate all of my female products to friends. Fingers crossed! Just had a mammogram today before work and next week is OBGYN visit. This coming Friday I am meeting with a new MD who will become my General Practitioner. BF is also going to see him. Both of us are trying to get better about going to a GP because once my old one retired I had never found one I like.
WOE is going well. Been holding off on meals until mid day each day since I started last Monday. Weekend was good. Even though I didn't really log any dinners we ate very healthy and low calorie so that we could have some pasta and some pizza for dinners. Just ate small portions and added in salad and stuff. We will see how it goes on the scale on Friday AM but this is our plan going forward. And also will rejoin the gym probably this weekend. Pay day is Friday. LOL
Ooh exciting that family is moving from west to east @KateNkognito! I wish we could take care of someone's pet. So cute.
I hear you about the mobile stuff. My thing is getting sucked in to Instagram, Reddit, and Facebook. I don't post, just read and look. Sigh... Time suck for sure.
I love reading! Almost done with a book I am reading now. Then I have two Frieda McFadden mystery / thriller books that I got from the library that I will start reading. She is so fun. If you are on Facebook, check her out. She has a private group on there for her books and she posts and comments all the time. Seems like such a down to earth person. Has made me want to read like ALL of her books!
Hot and humid but sunny! I can't complain since I am inside with A/C. In the office usual days this week. Nice to be home today. Looking forward to my turkey on a low carb wrap!
Have a good day and see you soon.0 -
Just another manic Monday! The morning was super slow, but the afternoon flew by.
This weekend I cleaned my room. It wasn't bad, just a bunch of little stacks of stuff that needed to be taken care of. Plus I dusted and washed all the bedding and made the bed all nice.
@Meghan509 Glad things are going well with your WOE! I hope you get to join the gym this week. I will check out that author. I am the same with Linda Goodnight. She is such a nice person that I want to read all her books.
Weather is supposed to be hot this week. I am getting tired of this nonsense. Where is fall?!
OH! I almost forgot! I have been looking for a fast-friendly carbonated beverage. I can't stand sparkling water without sweetener. I think it tastes gross. But I came across Zevia. It has a whole bunch of flavors and they taste good and are sweetened with stevia, so it is actually good for you and doesn't mess with fasting.
Ok. Off to do some adult stuff. Pack my lunch, set out my clothes. Look at me with the mental health!
Have a lovely week!

Good morning!!
Happy Tuesday! One day closer to the weekend1 Rain is coming, thanks to Hurricane Debby and looking like basically from today through Saturday we will be getting lots of rain! Some wind and heavy rain expected tonight. Just hoping for nothing drastic and our little sump pump in our basement does its job! Argh. We have plans with friends on Saturday PM and I am wondering if we will cancel because of the weather... We shall see.
Stay cool, I hear you. I am ready for fall too @KateNkognito and I typically love summer! But, enough already with all this heat and humidity. Not fun anymore.
Oh yes, I have seen that soda before in the market! Hope you like it! What about Diet Sodas, do you have any you like? I could see Diet Canada Dry or Diet Sprite / 7Up working well too! I do seltzers at work during the day and sometimes I will do a Coke Zero or a Diet Coke. I am boring! At home we have some fun ones like Dr. Pepper Zero original and the one with cream soda. YUMMY!
I do find I have been sleeping better and my knees are less achy since I have started eating healthy. Mood is definitely better too. Crazy how we are affected by what we eat.
Nothing much else new here. In the office today but it is quiet. Fine by me!
Hope you have a good day and a good week! See you soon.0 -
Good morning!
Wednesday is already here. I have to say the week is flying by pretty quickly.
Traffic is still being kind. I think a lot of people are taking vacations before school starts at the end of the month, typically the Thursday before Labor Day around here. Used to hate it as a kid having to back before the holiday but I know my nephew should be heading back next week. My niece is going to be going to Pre-K since she is three.
There were heavy rains here over night but thankfully no damage as a result. Definitely a little cooler out which is nice. Current temp is 64 degrees F. Have not seen that in a while!
Hope you are well @KateNkognito and your fasts are going well. I feel like I am getting in to a bit of a groove here. Definitely feeling better which is nice. Hopefully the scale agrees. LOL
Have a good day! See you soon.0 -
@Meghan509 I hope you stay dry! Glad traffic has been nice for you, too!
I am trying to move away from diet sodas. I saw a study that showed how stevia actually helps with fasting, so that's a bonus!
Glad you are feeling better with the change in eating. Crazy how that works! ๐
It has been a super busy long week so far. I definitely need a weekend.
Going to shower and then snuggle with the dogs. We are dog sitting again and I have to say, I like the extra pupper.
Have a great rest of the week!0 -
Good morning!
@KateNkognito yes I have heard that too about diet sodas. I try and only drink a few per week at most. Most of what I drink is seltzer and regular old water. Too much of anything is not good! Well except maybe veggies, those are okay in large quantities! LOL
Last night I made a Mediterranean Vegetable Bake for dinner! We put it over pasta and it was yummy! Recipe below. Says it makes eight servings. Since it is so low calorie we made it four servings. Instead of fresh tomato, I used a small can of petite diced tomatoes drained and I added in a red pepper since I had one on hand. Most of the veggies were purchased at our local farmers market. We have one on Saturdays downtown in our city and it is so cute! Will be there often or until the close at the end of October.
Here is the recipe I made: https://thehiddenveggies.com/mediterranean-roasted-eggplant-recipe/
Rainy here again and same planned for the next day or two. Weekend is still looking good!
Hope you have a good day!! See you soon.

Just another long day. I managed to strain my back muscles somehow. Put some balm on and I am laying on the heating pad. I am also super sleepy, so I feel an early bedtime coming on.
Have a happy Friday!0 -
Happy Friday!
Hope you feel better @KateNkognito! Sorry to hear about your back. Pack pain stinks. Hope you get some rest this weekend.
Had a successful visit to my new GP today. Nice guy. Didn't even mention my weight which was nice. Maybe because I told the nurse I am working on it.
He mentioned he would do a thyroid test along with the regular blood work and I am happy about that. BF goes on Monday to same Doctor and I will assume he's getting bloodwork so we will go together. BF gets faint. Poor guy.
Down .6 this morning which is good. Wish it were more but just have to roll with it. Didn't come on overnight and won't come off overnight.
Lots of other perks to eating healthier for me. I feel much less achy too. Knee pain is almost gone. Been sleeping better as well. Last night my Samsung Galaxy Watch said I had a 99 for a sleep score! Highest I have ever had if I recall. Crazy...
Major wind happening here. Rain is coming. Good news is it will clear out after midnight and it will be a sunny and less humid weekend and week ahead. Fingers crossed.
Hope you have a good weekend. See you soon.0 -
Friday! ๐ So glad the weekend is here!
My youngest starts his senior year of high school on Monday! Where did the time go?!
@Meghan509 If you lose half a pound per week, you will be down 25 lbs in a year. I told myself that even if I only lose .1 per week, that's 5 pounds less in a year than I was and that much closer to healthy.
I would like to go get blood work done, but I can't stand the doctor I got assigned to after mine retired. He's a self righteous... person. I really need to also get a baseline mammogram too. Again, I don't want to go back to that doctor for the results. Need to find someone new.
Our weather has gone from disgusting heat to beautifully cool. Airing out the house and blowing out the man-stink before the heat comes roaring back next week.
Off to finish my grocery list and then off to bed. Have a great weekend!

Good morning!
Happy Monday! Grumble grumble. LOL
We had a nice weekend. After the wind and rain came through on Friday night it brought beautiful and less humid weather. Sunny and nice and not as hot! Who knew!? Been a long summer.
@KateNkognito I get it about doctors that you are not a fan of. Same thing happened to me. My original GP was great and I went to him all the time. Then he had the nerve to retire! And the woman who took his place was not good. Then she left the practice shortly after coming. Buh bye. The other doctor in the practice was available but didn't feel anything great about him either. My GI doctor who I saw in April recommended this new guy to me. He is very nice. BF sees him this afternoon. I am happy about that because he has not been to the doctor in a while. He's healthy, but is over due for eye, dental, and the yearly blood work. Planning to do bloodwork together in the morning if it works out.
Hope you had a nice weekend and enjoyed the cooler weather!
We took a walk yesterday and went to a local track that's at our City Hall. Ended up to be about two miles. We enjoyed it and will plan for more of these. BF wants to hold off on rejoining the gym until he speaks with the doctor about a chronic knee issue he's been dealing with.
Working remotely today. I have a mid day OBGYN visit shortly. Mammogram was last week. Feels like all of these appointments hit at the same time. LOL I scheduled myself a shingles vaccine and a flu shot. I will hold off on the Covid Booster until later in the year.
Hope you have a good day and a great week ahead!0 -
Just another manic Monday! The weekend was GORGEOUS weather! We aired the man-stink out of the house. Also got all the adulting things done. I even have mental health enough to start quilting again. ๐
Today I sent my youngest off to his first day of his senior year of high school. I was a bit of a mess this morning.
@Meghan509 I used to literally take a day and schedule every single annual appointment plus a haircut. Dentist, eye, annual exam, hair, chiropractor. I should do that sometime this fall...
It is late and I am off to bed.

Happy Tuesday!
Came in to work today and my laptop would not turn on. UGH. Nightmare. Luckily the IT guy had a spare so here I am. Just having to log in to everything is a huge pain in the rear. Sigh. Up and running for now.
Wow, your youngest is a senior! No way @KateNkognito where does the time go! Congrats. Hope he has a great year. My sister sent me a pic of my niece and nephew! It was also their first day! My niece started PreK. Where does the time go!!
Today BF and I went before work to have our blood work done for our physicals! Fingers crossed. LOL Managed to make it to work on time with no issues.
About to go upstairs to a team luncheon and will make smart choices. Hard to figure out calories when I am not cooking or prepping the food.
Hope you have a good day. See you soon.0 -
I am so tired. Neighbor's dog does not like thunderstorms. Which means night before last I didn't get much sleep. Then neighbor got back late last night, so I stayed up late so I could take the pupper back home.
Need caffeine. Lots of caffeine.

Good morning!
Ugh, that stinks @KateNkognito we have a friend's dog who shakes and hides when there are thunder storms or fireworks or anything that she doesn't like. Feel so bad for the dog. Hope your day is not a long one. Coffee is your friend.
Plugging along here. Seems like a quieter type of day with lots of people traveling or in meetings or doing something else were they don't need to bug me. LOL I don't mind.
Yesterday's luncheon was nice. I kept it low key with salad, a veggie wrap, and a little bit of pasta salad. Yummy. Said no to the cookies!
Hope your day is a good one. See you soon.1 -
Good morning!
Happy Thursday. Hope the week is going well. Today is my honey bunny's birthday! Another trip around the SUN.
Work is busy but good. Not crazy which is nice. This time of year a lot of people are taking vacations and stuff.
Hope you have a good day. See you soon.0 -
Happy birthday to your guy! ๐๐
This week has been busy and I am just tired. BUT I have tightened up some sloppy eating habits and I feel like I am doing better. Exercise is another story... but I will get there eventually.
Going to, hopefully, get some sleep tonight. I had the beginning of a sinus/ear infection, but I took a few fistfuls of supplements and everything has cleared up. ๐
Have a great weekend! It is supposed to be a warm one here!

Good morning!
Friday is here! Good for you, @KateNkognito I feel that is what is about when it comes to eating better and finding a lifestyle that works for you. Glad you are feeling better!
I was happy with Keto but it was not sustainable and too restrictive. Every time we went somewhere or to someone's house there were so many things we couldn't eat. It got tiring. I feel like plain old counting calories and eating them in a window that works for me - 12pm to 8pm give or take is good for me.
I am down 1.6 pounds today and I have lost six pounds total since cleaning up my act and trying to get more active a few weeks back. Not bad for a 52 year old menopausal female with a sedentary lifestyle.
Doctor's office called yesterday to give me my results from the bloodwork we did on Tuesday AM. BF and I had both logged on and looked at our results so we knew what to expect. I was told I am pre-diabetic (.2 over the line from normal to be fair) but it is what it is and the doctor wants me to eat less carbs and increase my physical activity. I am definitely doing that but what a wake up call to be pre-diabetic. Not cool. I am at the point where if I didn't improve my eating habits it would turn in to type 2 diabetes. UGH. I feel embarrassed that this is where I am. Only BF and this little board know. I have downloaded all the lists of GI levels for different foods. Will be focusing on healthier carbs.
BF was given a statin for cholesterol even though his was lower than mine, but he has elevated blood pressure and triglycerides. UGH. Getting old and being overweight can be so fun. Onward and upward.
Supposed to have plans with friends on Saturday but their daughter has COVID but "will be leaving on Saturday to return to college". And they will be testing daily to make sure they are okay and would still would like to have us all over. Really? Even though you all share the same kitchen and the same bathrooms? I am not feeling it. I am definitely not worried about passing away from COVID , but that doesn't really mean I want to get it! UGH. Let me know your thoughts on that. Am I being soft?
Sorry for a long post! Hope you have a good weekend. See you soon.0 -
@Meghan509 If those test results are what you need to get to a healthy place, then run with it! Sometimes we don't see the changes that happen slowly and need an outside view. I hope you both get healthy and stay that way for a long time!
No, you aren't being soft about the invite. Let's see, someone in your house is sick, no matter what it is, and you want me to come over and visit? That would be a hard NO.
This week has been super busy. Today has slowed a bit. I am looking forward to a nice, restful weekend.

Happy Monday!
Thanks @KateNkognito I like that! Yes, i definitely have been making better choices based on my recent test results. We are also lucky that there are so many items in the grocery stores to choose from that assist in making good choices. I found some Yasso Yogurt pops with only 100 calories a bar also Enlightened makes a whole Keto line for their frozen treats. I used to enjoy the Enlightened Ice Cream back in the day when we were on Keto. If I am able to have dessert once in a while without making my blood sugar go bananas, I am happy.
Thank you for your response regarding the party and the COVID. BF told them that we were not coming. He didn't get in to it with them, instead he said he wasn't feeling well. I thought that if someone was sick in their household then they should have cancelled or postponed. Waiting to see if they all come down with COVID now, sigh... To each their own.
Hope you had a nice weekend. Ours was good. We ended up going out for dinner on Saturday night to have a little belated birthday dinner for my guy. It was nice.
Yesterday was really rainy and we are lucky our sump pump was working because WOW we got a lot of rain. Sunny and humid today. Rest of the week looks good.
Hard to believe that we have two full weeks left and then it is Labor Day. Where DOES the time go?!
Hope you have a great day and you had a nice relaxing weekend. See you soon!0 -
Good morning!
Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Been having A LOT of rain lately. Yesterday after work we were able to go over to City Hall and walk on the track. Got some good steps in! Luckily we had some nice sunny weather and rain came in after we were already back home. Sheesh.
Not a whole lot happening here. Just work. Going with the flow. Eating clean and getting in some exercise where we can. Very close to rejoining the gym. Keeping an eye on BF's knee for now and don't want to push it too hard. What is ironic is that the gym has been emailing and texting us to get us to come back. CRAZY!
Have a good day and see you soon!0 -
Yesterday was quick and today was sloooow. It was a rainy cool day today so I was trying not to doze off at my desk.
Glad you had a nice weekend @Meghan509! And I like to have fast friendly foods to fall back on when I am not feeling like being healthy. I don't remember if I said, but I have been drinking Zevia sodas. I saw a study that explained why stevia helps with fasting (I don't remember what it was). And I REALLY missed carbonated beverages. Zevia is not exactly the same as regular soda, but close enough for me. ๐
I am off to bed. My dog is being a butthead. He better behave or I will snuggle him against his will! LOL

Good morning!
Today has been an odd day. Let me explain.
Yesterday afternoon I get word that an Amazon order (at work) that had two items for the office had arrived. Today when I get in I go upstairs to retrieve it. Appears that there is only one box and not two like there should be. I open the box and inside are two totally different items that I didn't order! There is also a receipt! Again, not my order. I submit a claim via Amazon letting them know. They tell me thanks and keep the items! Guess we have a new set of headphones and a keyboard for home. LOL Looks like I can't submit a claim for my two missing items until tomorrow. Sigh...
Then, I see that another order I placed for books for a colleague is still outstanding and only five of the 30 I ordered have come in. Supposedly there was a USPS error and the vendor was going to be sending new replacement books. Nothing has arrived. Where are my books!? Tired of chasing people.
I must have pissed off the shipping Gods or something. Shaking my head.
Then, last night right before dinner we discovered we have a leak in our basement. It is coming from the hot water pipe in the ceiling. We put a bucket underneath it and have notified the landlord. Do you THINK they have responded yet?! UGH. Good thing we are not out of town and BF goes down to the basement frequently to empty the dehumidifier, otherwise we might not have discovered it when we did.
Anyway, hope the rest of this day goes better. The good news is my WOE is going well. Have not been real hungry at all. I am getting used to my calories and feeling like I found something that is working. Been eating from mid day on, just coffee and water in the morning until lunch.
Glad you like that new soda @KateNkognito I have seen that one in our grocery store. I will try sometime. Been naughty with drinking my water so far today and yesterday. Going to get up now and get a fresh refill before lunch.
Hope you have a good day. Much cooler here today. Wearing a sweater! Who knew?!0 -
Amazon shipping is a strange world, sometimes, @Meghan509! I hope the leak gets fixed soon! Yikes! Super glad you have found a good balance for your WOE.
I thought I was on a good roll, then I think my hormones have gone wacky. I am just going to keep doing what I am doing and know that eventually it will show on the scale. I have eating under control. My next step is to add in daily cardio (or at least a few days a week). Then I will work on strength training. Then I will go back and see what is/isn't working and adjust. That's the plan, anyway. ๐
Halfway through this week, then one more until the three day weekend! We got this!
0 -
Good morning!
Thanks @KateNkognito finally our landlord responded and she said she'd let her husband know and she'd keep me posted on when he could stop by. So far crickets again. Sigh... In the meantime, BF has been emptying the bucket and it is not getting any worse. Hoping we hear something back today. UGH.
I know what you mean about hormones. I am still rolling right along towards menopause and still no TOM since end of last October. So weird that it would happen so quick like that. I am only 52. But they say you have to a go a full year without and if it shows up we restart the clock. Fingers crossed. LOL I find that I am not really hungry unless I don't eat enough. I know it sounds straight forward but it is true. I can kind of get by with less calories. Just have to make them calories that count and are satisfying. Been eating a lot more fruits and veggies.
Almost time for lunch here. Woo hoo! Hope you have a good rest of the day! See you soon.

@Meghan509 This is me thinking angry thoughts at your landlord. ๐ก
Tomorrow is Friday! Had a thing at work today. Turns out I have been doing something wrong, but I didn't know it because the person that showed me how to do it didn't explain it correctly. So now I have a boatload of work to do to fix it. And they didn't even apologize! ๐ I'm going to just tell myself that they were embarrassed to have messed me up and didn't know what to say. So Friday can't get done fast enough tomorrow.
Have a great weekend! Make healthy choices!

Good morning!
Lost a pound this week! Seven pounds lost now since we first started. Can't say I wish it were a little quicker, but the weight didn't come on over night. Baby steps. Need to get a consistent walking schedule. That will help.
Thank you @KateNkognito I just can't believe some people, you know? This morning I texted her since we have not heard anything back since Wednesday. Original email was Tuesday night. WTF like this is water leaking from a pipe. What if we were out of town or wanted to. The stupid bucket needs to be emptied and checked to make sure it is not getting worse.
And, hot off the press as I was typing this! Landlord responded to my text and said a plumber is coming over now, and is someone home to let him in. Well it is a good thing I am remote today. UGH... Hopefully this gets resolved quickly. Fingers crossed.
So sorry to hear about your work thing. That stinks. Hope it gets resolved quickly.
Similar thing happened to me recently. Someone had asked me to buy two tickets to an online event. I sent her a screen shot back asking which tickets to select since it wasn't clear. She responded and I purchased. Turns out I bought two tables instead of two tickets. Sigh... No wonder it was expensive. I reconfirmed that it was not my fault, it was hers but still... I had to reach out to the vendor and she agreed to work with us on a refund.
No big plans for us this weekend. We like it that way. Planning to hit the BJ's and Aldi over the weekend which means no grocery store run mid day today. I think we will take a walk today after work. Kind of like this new healthier lifestyle! LOL Need to get to the library to pick up a hold that is now available.
Have a nice weekend! See you soon.0
