Suddenly September!

Ouch, Nanc. Arthritis and surgery is no fun for sure, but like you said no cancer and that's huge!
I just stayed in bed this morning for a while. Dozing and having weird dreams. Finally got up around 7 and got my mile in on the treadmill. Should be able to make it to the office by 9:30. Glad it's Saturday because I hate rushing around in the mornings anymore. I like to have time to gear up for the day, leisurely cup of tea, pack lunch, etc.

Day ONE of Mary's Mini went great. Bring on Day TWO!
-night all0 -
Didn't make it to the office yesterday. Got hit with an odd stomach bug and threw up a lot, and then slept for a looong time. Feel fine this morning. Really weird. Have laundry going and need to run to the store for something to take to the reunion today since I didn't get to the store yesterday and don't have time to make the salad I intended. I'll just grab something from the deli department. Hopefully they have some vegan options. I might just end up with veggies, hummus and pita chips.
Good job with the Mary's Mini, Nanc.

Hope you continue to feel better, Mihani. Is the chocolate drink a wine?
Great news on your test results, Nanc, the not cancer part of things. I am really sorry it is looking like you'll need a hip replacement. Is there a chance you won't need one?
Bisky, I love the new paint color. What brand and color is it? We are repainting our interior this coming spring.
I found the mold guys. I knew it was mold. The shower leak in our main bathroom caused molding on the other side of the wall, in my closet. I went in there to organize and clean and found a large area of fuzzing mold. barf. For now, I will sleep in the guest room because the farther away I am the better. We are waiting for a call back to schedule the plumber then as soon as it is fixed, Joe and his dad will replace the drywall and clean up whatever mess is on the inside of the wall. Hopefully this coming week.
I think we're going to cancel our cruise in Spain. It is rather pricey, and with my breathing problems and the smell of the dogs permanently in the carpeting, we are instead going to put that money plus more into home renovations. I want to replace all of the carpet in the house and either match it to the existing wood floor in the main living area or if we can't find a good match, replace it all. Then I can get a robot vacuum to keep the dust down. While everything is out of the house anyway, we're going to get the interior painted, and an exterior paint job is already planned for this coming spring. A little disappointing but a better use of our money at this point in time.
Pasta with bean protein crumbles for dinner today. Bagel with vegan butter for breakfast. We're all out now and I won't bring more bread into the house.
I think we'll be able to take a trip to Spain next fall.0 -
Moving is a b*tch and so am I. Living on peanut butter& bananas on TJ gluten free seed crackers. House is done. It looks beautiful. We are broke. Garage getting painted today.
Magic I am sad to hear the news of your hips. My MIL got a hip replacement at 93y because she could not stand the pain. She did great and is ambulatory with a walker now at 97y. I hope you get some sleep.
Mihani - I am the same way with chocolate it is all or nothing for me.
Carla - I have some very friendly feral cats that would take care of your mice. Lately a new cat has not only shown up at the feeding station (5 houses down) but waits for me at my house in the morning. He or she is very tame and I think was abandoned.
Goal today…2-3 trips of moving stuff then shampoo rugs so they have rest of week to dry. Maybe try to eat something other than peanut butter. I do have my coffee protein shake in am.

Sorry bout dealing with the move, but think about how wonderful it will be, living in your own home and it's sooooooooooo flipping gorgeous. Thank for letting me know about your MIL, Bisky! Totally helps wash away my disappointment. I even gave away my walker and toilet riser...I thought I was done! Sheesh!
I am bone on bone. So it has to happen...when is the question. Hoping to get an appointment before Houston...leaving 10/9.
Day three of Mary's Mini. Feeling really good. Insomnia is still a problem but the sauna helps with the hip pain and of course M's M does as well.
Today:
coffee
mashed potatoes with spinach
fries with side of tomatoes and cukes
baked with assorted fresh veg
apple
Have a great day everyone...oh and by the way, I should have posted this on September 21st! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gs069dndIYk1 -
appointment with ortho surgeon today...can't sleep...cancelled trip to Houston already. I will need my vacation (two weeks plus five days sick) for pay when I am out. Will be out on FMLA. Family and Medical Leave Act Very discouraged actually ... I even gave away my walker and toilette riser. I thought I was done with this stuff. Oh well.
day four of Mary's Mini
made a huge pot of vegetable soup: onions, carrots, cabbage, mushrooms, celery, Muir Glen Roasted Tomatoes, veg broth & a seasonal seasoning mix from Trader Joe's. I will post a picture of it. It really is good stuff.
also made huge batch of mashed potatoes and spinach
we do get a fruit and will make a small blueberry/pineapple/spinach smoothie for dessert time
I feel so much better on this...after ten days I will add TOFU or beans or some other protein and stay the course for awhile...it does help with the pain in my hip since I have totally cut out WHEAT products.
that's it. later gang.

Mornin' all, yesterday was a long day full 12 hours in the office. I slept in a bit this morning.
I am slowly getting myself away from the snacky and back to lots of sweet potatoes, steamed veggies, salads, nuts, oats with fruit, etc. If I just eat those basics every time I get hungry then I am fine. Maybe I'll try something a little more fancy on the weekends. I lost the few pounds that I had bounced up and that's very motivating.
Bisky, glad to hear the house is ready and you can move in. When is actual moving day?
Carla, glad you found the mold and can get that fixed. That's so disappointing you have to cancel your trip, but home repairs really do suck up a lot of money.
Your veggie soup sounds great, Nanc. Glad to hear Mary's Mini is going well.

Carla - I didn’t see your post yesterday about canceling your trip. 😿I am so sorry. A couple of things. We installed a UV light in our HVAC system when we had a mold smell. Solved the problem. In Japan and here on base in San Antonio these old houses have mold smells in high humidity months. We run an ionizer but only when we have the room closed off as humans and animals should not be around it. I run it in the morning in our bedroom after I am done. Then I run it downstairs at night when we go to bed and dogs are moved upstairs. Plus we run the air purifier constantly..We have no carpeting. Our previous houses had wood floors and dogs nails were tough on wood floors. We had Vinyl laminate installed in our house and I love it.
Magic - I am sorry you are facing another surgery and have to cancel your Houston trip. You may have dodged a bullet as a storm is brewing. Your soup looked delicious.
Mihani - sounds like you are back to your healthy habits. I had a salty vegetable Pho soup yesterday and was up 2.5lbs today!🙀
Went swimming this morning. Now need to load car up. Bought Vanilla Ka’Chava. Much better than coconut flavor. Also bought instant coffee to add as I am addicted to coffee flavored smoothies. The Ka’Chava is vegan.0 -
I've never tried pho, Bisky, and it seems like something I would like so I should.
I have had a rough week so far. Not getting out of the office until 7:00 or later the past couple weeks and honestly I could spend 24/7 and it wouldn't be enough. I was just starting to feel like we were making some headway when my co-worker got sick and was off over a week, and we were right back where we were.
Going to try to be out by 5:30 tonight and get to the grab and go for a few things to get me through the rest of the week, then I'll do a bigger shop and prep over the weekend.

DAY FIVE!
coffee
mashed with spinach
veg soup with boiled
raw veggies: carrots, celery, peppers, cukes, tomatoes
smoothie: blueberries and pineapple
baked plain
Looking forward to a good day. Cheers!0 -
My ozempic coworker gained all the weight she lost!
Now she just started ozempic part two!
Ridiculous!0 -
That's so sad, Magic. I did a lot of fad diets through the years and the highs and lows of seeing results and then gaining the weight back is so depressing and discouraging. I still struggle and gain/lose within 6 or 8 pounds and should lose another 20 pounds, but nothing like when I was 90 pounds overweight.
Stopped at the grab and go and got some of the pumpkin mac which I always liked but the past two times I didn't like it at all. I don't think she changed the recipe, it's just me. I do that a lot... really like some food or other for a while then all of a sudden yuck.
I think the constant of sweet potatoes and steamed veggies, oats, etc. has changed my taste buds to some extent. I don't really like rich foods much anymore. At least not for a whole meal maybe a few bites. Wish that would happen with the salty snacky.
I am meeting up with friends for cocktails on Friday, visiting family Saturday when I get out of the office. Sunday I will stay home to work so I can do some food prep, laundry, etc.

Actually, in this case, not sad at all. So snarky she is. My goodness. When she lost, she was all about it and prancing around...and goodness, me, I just can't eat a thing. Then she stopped with the shots and eating chips and (we have a soft serve ice cream machine in our cafe) eating ice cream and whatever. And all the time, telling me oh no, I am gaining so much weight.
THEN, she came back last week and said she was getting the shot from a pharmacy. Before she was getting it from some random person. (This is a 55 year old coworker, with a few brain cells left intact, mind you).
So, she had told me last week she was starting Monday. So when I got to work yesterday, asked her, did you start your new program, and she got all flipping offended. See, the Ozempic crowd, on the most part, do not want you to know they went that route. But for her, the cat was already out of the bag.
Now, she isn't talking to me. She's ridiculous.
Meanwhile, I am on day 6 of 10 of a Mary's Mini. Slow going on the weight loss, but finally out of my addiction to Matzo Brei. Truly, I don't miss at this point, cuz of the fab job the MM has done to reset my taste buds...I just miss the nostalgia of it all. Anyway, on to day six...I am bringing my food in compostable containers...so it looks professionally prepared. And when my nosey, meat eating, mean spirited towards vegan coworkers
ask what's that...I just innocently say, not exactly sure, I have a vegan chef in my neighborhood who prepares my food on work days. I think it's potatoes and spinach, not sure.
today... MM Day 6 Starch: Potatoes
coffee
mashed with spinach
raw veggie plate
veg soup with boiled
baked at home, dinner with Lulu
I am looking for to the end to finally put beans back in. I really need them to get things moving a little better.
The sauna is finally working...(please do not jinx myself)...20 minutes, I go straight from work, I do get home an hour later, but I am sleeping and therefore a better mom to Lulu.
No hip replacement at this time. Aleve or ibuprofen and an order for physical therapy. I will go there Monday to set it up. If I do not get some relief, then we go the shot route. Then after that is surgery. In the meantime, cutting out all wheat has helped and so has the sauna.Love you guys. Thanks for listening. I am so excited to be sleeping you have no idea! Later, and do make it deeeeeeeeeeeelicious!

Made my mashed with spinach into air fried potato pancakes 😋

Magic - That potato spinach air fried pancake looks delicious. Your co worker is looking for a quick fix, short cut to weight loss. The faster you take it off the faster you gain it back per my nutritionist. She is happy if I didn’t gain or lost 1-2 lbs per month. That is very slow but she says it does stimulate the hunger hormones that are released when you quit eating or go on a strict low cal diet.
Mihani - one of my favorite items in Japan grocery stores was the roasted sweet potatoes wrapped in brown paper. no seasonings or oil. I also enjoyed precut japanese pumpkins. They are delicious but have an extremely thick skin that makes it impossible for me to cut. i actually thought about getting an ax so I could cut them.
loving the vegan vanilla Ka’Chava protein powder with a tsp of instant coffee. making it for both Brooks and I in the morning and it holds us much longer than the Chike whey coffee protein powder.
Brooks took 3 days off. Yesterday morning we took the free city pickle ball lesson. It is a fun group of people. Brooks is a natural. 😜 He has not played that much but he and I won against people who have been playing over a year. Today we got up and swam laps. I never have swam that early and the sun was rising and shining through the windows creating an iridescent glow in the pool.
Today a friend came over with her truck and we moved a ton of stuff. she is coming back tomorrow….so nice of her. Saturday the movers are coming for all the big heavy stuff.

Really happy to hear you are sleeping better, Nanc. I love to sleep and have decided that when I retire I am going to be a cat and just wander around the house looking for sunbeams to nap in. I picked up some russets and sweets last night, along with mushrooms, salad lettuce and veggies, greens for smoothies. Going to try to hit all the GBOMBS each day next week.
Bisky, woohoo for moving day! I think the community center that I joined (quit going after a few months when work got worse) has pickle ball lessons. I should check.
Carla, how you feeling?
Oh, and I discovered some Forks Over Knives frozen entrees at Fresh Thyme last night! Really excited to try those out. There are a lot of decent vegan frozen meals out there, but they all have oil, and I had heard FOK had them but they weren't available anywhere near me when I looked them up some months ago.
Glad it's Friday. Boss is out most of the day so I am hoping to do some catching up, and then put in a full day tomorrow when nobody is there to bug me.

Mornin' all, quiet weekend here. Yesterday was super busy with office, visiting family, quick grocery trip because I discovered I was completely out of frozen berries. Nobody else came in yesterday so I got a fair amount done with nobody bugging me. I brought work home to do today so I can get laundry done and want to do some prepping. I have potatoes to bake and a cantaloupe to cut up. Starting today shooting for all the GBOMBS every day.
Plan for today...
B - smoothie (baby kale/spinach, chia/flax, berries, plant protein powder, cinnamon, turmeric, black pepper)
L - big ol' salad (spring mix, cucumber, grape tomatoes, grapes, sweet pepper, pickled onion, chickpeas)
D - baked potato topped with salsa and some steamed broccoli and mushrooms
Think I'll make the Shane & Simple vinaigrette for this week.

Last day of September. time is flying by.
we got moved in. This has been quite the move. i feel like our stuff was put in a bag then mixed and thrown out in the garage. Dogs are very happy here. Had final inspection on base and we passed. The deposit will come in handy.
i am trying to decide if i should take my social security now or 6 months from now. it is only a $75.00 difference.0 -
Bisky, yay for getting all moved out. Now for the unpacking and settling back in. Glad to hear puppers like it there.
Rough day. having a light dinner and going to bed early.
B - smoothie
L - baked potato, steamed broccoli and mushrooms, salsa
D - lots of lettuce and veggies in an atoria wrap with some of the good foods brand tzatziki, might have some grapes and/or yogurt too
S - cantaloupe
