I live in Kona, Hawaii on what we call “The Big Island,” because it’s the biggest island in our “island state.” I think it’s the most beautiful, the most natural, and the most like “old Hawaii.”
Do you have a pet? I have one cat who is almost 16 years old.
What are your health/fitness goals for this season? Maintain weight, keep walking, keep going to the gym
How would your pet or friend describe you? Reliable, loving, comfortable, loyal
What is the last thing you finished? Give it a name if you can. Another chapter on my memoir.
What is your favorite TV show? I don’t watch TV, but occasionally I watch British mysteries on Acorn or BritBox on my iPad.
What are your favorite fall activities? Fall? What is that? LOL I live in Hawaii, but there are subtle changes in what grows, even the temperatures remain about the same.
What is your favorite type of exercise? Recumbent bike, rowing machine, weights, walking
Would you rather exercise, wash a car, or clean the house? Always exercise! I don’t do either of the other two activities – I pay someone else to do those.
What always cheers you up? A text/chat with any of my four adult children.
2 fun things about you? I’ll turn 90 during the fall challenge and I bought a 37‘ sailboat and lived on it for 5 years with my teen son.
Do you have a diet or fitness tip to share? Be sure to eat! Starving yourself to lose weight never works to your benefit.

This is my very first one!

I love taking photographs of nature, crocheting, cooking, and sewing!

I live near Raleigh, North Carolina and we have some cool places to visit such museums, parks, farmers markets, ect.

The last thing I finished was crocheting a Jack Skellington for one of my children.

I don't spend much time watching TV, but when I do, I enjoy shows such as Halloween Wars, Carnival Eats, and anything cooking-related!

I love baking homemade pies and cookies with my children.

What do you like to do for fun? I love being with family, friends, reading and since I now have a pool I like to use it as much as I can.

Do you have a pet? We have a small mix chihuahua, dachshund named Dandy. It belongs to my son but he is with us so he is a family dog

Do you have a pet? We recently said goodbye to our 18 year old cat. We have an 11 year old Cocker/Golden dog.
What are your health/fitness goals for this season? Continue recovering from my spinal fusion surgery on 8/20.

2 fun things about you? My son took me to Norway in 2017 where I met relatives I didn't know I had. I have 5 children, 3 daughters and twin boys.
Do you have a diet or fitness tip to share? It's important to have a routine and a set schedule - you may have to alter it from time to time but you need to have that commitment.
Would you like to share a picture of you or whatever you would like? Daisy's warming up my bed for me - had to sleep by myself for the first few days after surgery.

What do you like to do for fun? I enjoy Jigsaw Planet online puzzles. If the weather is not to hot, I like to work in the garden.
What major city do you live in or near? State? Tell us a bit about where you live. I live in Fort Wayne, IN (the northeast corner of the state of Indiana, USA). in the oldest house in the neighborhood, over 100.
Do you have a pet? Just the sparrows that I feed in the garden
What are your health/fitness goals for this season? I want to be faithful in tracking my food, losing, and coming in line with the doctor’s recommendations to bring blood pressure down.
How would your pet or friend describe you? She’s mostly a doer, but a kind one. At 80 she’s learning to relax.
What is the last thing you finished? Give it a name if you can. Put an eggplant Caponata into the oven.
What is your favorite TV show? I do not watch any TV.
What are your favorite fall activities? Changing the front planter out to mums (done v) and buying a few pretty pumpkins if I see a good price soon. Pumpkin pie of course. If the weather ever cools I will begin baking bread again.
What is your favorite type of exercise? I have to make myself do it, whatever it is. We have dumbbells and a treadmill.

What always cheers you up? Knowing God is for me.
2 fun things about you? My sister (whom I live with) and I are addicted to Flylady who keeps us organized and motivated to stay on top of things. I have raised 3 fir trees from cones.
Do you have a diet or fitness tip to share? 1) Add more veggies. 2) I’m hearing drink water 30 minutes before a meal, not with a meal. 3) Avoid as many bags and boxes as possible at the grocery store.

I LIVE 5 MINUTES FROM CHARLOTTE, NC. THE COMMUNITY I LIVE IN IS RIGHT OFF A GOLF COURSE AND A WALK AWAY FROM THE LAKE. IT HAS LOTS OF WALKING TRAILS AND PARKS TO DO THINGS.

NO PETS NOW, BUT I DID HAVE A DOG AND PARAKETTS.

What are your health/fitness goals for this season? As a diabetic, I always want to keep my A1C below 7 and to exercise 6 of 7 days a week.

What major city do you live in or near? State? Tell us a bit about where you live. fresno, Ca love the weather here except for the hot summers. Lots of greenery, trees, lovely place to walk & it's near many state parks & rivers
Do you have a pet? we currently have 6 dogs. they were either strays or foster fails
What are your health/fitness goals for this season? I'd like to get more fit(already started this past challenge) after having to cut back on some forms of exercise due to medical reasons, a few I can't do anymore but want to keep increasing the ones I can do

2 fun things about you? I never know how to answer this...I have fun when I volunteer with animal rescue
Do you have a diet or fitness tip to share? yes, some of the things that helped me lose weight & keep it off is eat what I like, not anyone else's diet, no gimmicks or shortcuts, add new foods that are good for me, don't overly restrict are a few. After I was doing these I discovered "half size me" on YouTube & she talks about these plus more that have helped.A couple are: not to compare myself with my past self & the other that I'm doing is not to focus on a number on the scale I want to weigh, instead notice a lifestyle I can live with comfortably (amount of calories & exercise) & stop at that weight so I can sustain it
Anything else you would like to share? I really enjoy being in the challenge & learning about new things, like the 9" plate

I am a Bostonian -- live near Boston, work in Boston. I moved around in my 20’s (former military wife) to Key West Florida & Ogunquit Maine but always bounce back to Boston

Two (or three) – Cat (19) & Dog (9) with me, and Cat (10) – lives with kiddo at school
What are your health/fitness goals for this season?
Lose weight, tone up, build muscle – work toward my goal of not being embarrassed in photos when kiddo graduates with their Masters in May 2025
How would your pet or friend describe you?
My pets would say that I work too hard & too long, that I get grouchy often, but that I take care of them and love them. I don’t have many friends, but I hope they would say I’m loyal, supportive, and caring.

I don’t think so – I’m trying to lose weight again for about the millionth time.
Anything else you would like to share?
I am new to this challenge (or at least it’s been so long since I participated, I feel like I’m new), and I am looking forward to getting to know you! I recently participated in a study following an Intermittent Fasting regimen and I feel like my body responded well to it. Now that the study is over, I need some sort of accountability, and I think this challenge will be perfect to keep me honest!

What do you like to be called?
What do you like to be called? I go by Sue or Susie. I use Sue here on the team.
How did you learn about the 5% Challenges? I joined the SUDS team on Spark People and I met Diane1. She helped me get started with the 5% challenge.
How many 5% Challenges have you done? I have been doing these challenges since 2011. Where this team goes I go.
What do you like to do for fun? I love to go shopping even if it is only window shopping. I also like to play games on my phone and computer. Spending time with my GKS and GGKS is also so much fun.
What major city do you live in or near? State? Tell us a bit about where you live. We live about 40 miles from Memphis, TN. We got stationed here in 1992 and my husband retired in 1997. It was just a little ole town when we moved here. Now it is a big town with all kinds of shops and eating places. My husband said if we weren't old we would sell our house and move some where else. Of course when a town grows and gets bigger, the crime rate goes up too. Three of our children live here so that was another reason for staying here.
Do you have a pet? We have 2 chihuahuas. They are Chico and Paco. They are so spoiled that it is not funny.
What are your health/fitness goals for this season? I had breast cancer and the surgery and treatments and then medications really took a toll on my body. I am working on eating healthier, exercising and getting in a routine for better sleep and the time I eat my meals. I have started losing some weight again, so I will see how this break ends and decide to stay in maintenance or go back to losing weight weekly.
How would your pet or friend describe you? I would hope that my fur babies and friends would know that I am crazy and I love to have fun. I always want to be there for them and that all of the things they tell me will not be told to anyone ever.
What is the last thing you finished? Give it a name if you can. The Summer 5% Challenge.
What is your favorite TV show? I love the Chicago shows, The Med, The Chicago Fire and the Chicago PD. The new season starts tomorrow night and I am excited to see it.
What are your favorite fall activities? I love to go hiking in the woods and look at all of the beautiful colors. I also like to sit in our gazebo and have a fire in the fire pit.
What is your favorite type of exercise? I love to walk outside. It has been so hot here that doing that has not been possible. I also like doing aerobics.
Would you rather exercise, wash a car, or clean the house? I like doing all 3 of these. You get a good workout doing them. I think I would pick cleaning house.
What always cheers you up? Seeing any of my 12 GKs and any of my 3 GGKs. They melt my heart and I love them all.
2 fun things about you? I love to laugh and have a good time. I have a very positive attitude.
Do you have a diet or fitness tip to share? I follow a pre-diabetic diet. I don't want any part of diabetes.
Anything else you would like to share? I am a caregiver for my DH. He has so many parts of his body that are messed up from a 40 foot fall he took off of the flight deck of an air craft carrier when he was 27. He has severe scoliosis of his spine and his body is twisting to his left side and all of his organs are being pushed that way too.

What do you like to do for fun? Make jewelry, paint watercolors (although I'm not very good at it), read, play golf and travel.

Health Goals: Cut out a lot of processed foods, and cut way back on the amount of wine I drink.
Fitness Goals: Get back into a regular gym routine - I've had a lot going on this last couple of months and have not been to the gym in quite a while.
How would your pet or friend describe you? Energetic but a bit low-key.

~ I saw it advertised online on SP back in 2010 I believe.

~ I cannot tell you. I have missed a few and once I rejoined, I never left.

~ I enjoy playing with animals. Mimi loves everyone and every dog around. She has no issues so it is easy to interact. Apart from that, I love to dance and will join a line dancing class on October 3rd. I love music and listen to all types with the exception of country and heavy jazz.

~ I live in the Ottaw region of Ontario, Canada.

~ Yes, I have a nearly 15 y.o. dog named Mimi. She still enjoys her walks so we go out twice daily. The walks are shorter now because she can no longer take the long walks.

~ Oh, I just want to lose some of the weight I have gained since coming back to Canada.

Do you have a diet or fitness tip to share? I like to go out for a walk on my two breaks every day. That way that 30 minutes of exercise is built right into my day and I don't have to worry about doing any exercise after work.
Anything else you would like to share? Although I am really looking forward to the fall... I am not liking that winter is on its way.
Would you like to share a picture of you or whatever you would like? The first picture is from a recent hiking trip with my husband and son. The second is our recent road trip... to Illinois! My son wanted to see the only working Bigboy so badly, and the furthest east it goes is Illinois. So we drove there and back in one weekend! It was a little crazy, but we had a great time!
