How did you learn about the 5% Challenges? From the SparkPeople Alumni Group (and before that from SparkPeople).
How many 5% Challenges have you done? A few back in the day.
What do you like to do for fun? Read, play video games, listen to music, 3D puzzle, explore my city.
What major city do you live in or near? State? Tell us a bit about where you live. Rochester, NY - about 6 hours from NYC. It's a great medium-sized city along Lake Ontario, with just about every activity you can think of.
Do you have a pet? Nope
What are your health/fitness goals for this season? Increased activity, continued slow and steady weight loss.
How would your pet or friend describe you? I work hard and I relax hard.
What is the last thing you finished? Give it a name if you can. Watching Young Sheldon with my son.
What is your favorite TV show? Don't have one, but I enjoy sitcoms like Big Bang Theory, The Office, Brooklyn 99.

2 fun things about you? 1. Despite my age, I still love 90's/00's alt rock and club music. 2. I moderate several large online gaming communities.
Do you have a diet or fitness tip to share? If something doesn't work for you, that's ok. Try something else. Keep trying until you find what works for you. And weight loss isn't 100% linear.

I have two Basset Hounds and a German Shepard
What are your health/fitness goals for this season?
My goals are to go to the gym twice a week, get 10,000 steps a day - including walking outside in nature three times a week - and lose 5% of my body weight by tracking what I eat.
How would your pet or friend describe you?
My hounds would describe me as selfish (when I am logging my food I don't feed them off my plate - I've already logged it, so it's mine).

Literally? A load of laundry. I am more interesting than that sometimes, but laundry still needs to get done, and that happens to be the last thing I finished.

The Curse of Oak Island - I love a good mystery

It's easier to resist temptation when their isn't any junk food in the house. If you pick up that box of cookies, chocolate bar or bag of chips, you are going to eat it. Just don't bring it home.

I just got back on MFP yesterday, after being inactive for a while. I am excited to do the 5% challenge, and it's nice to have motivation right out of the gate.

Do you have a pet? The pets I currently have in my life are the pups, Bandit, Danny, and Champ, the bunnies Twix and Tigger. They all live with my kids. I feel like they wouldn't appreciate me saying I didn't have pets
What are your health/fitness goals for this season? Spend more time with an elevate heart rate while on the treadmill.

Buying boots with my daughter. Two of my favorite tiny humans were born in the fall so I look forward to their birthday party. One of two parties have happened.

I'll have to go with walking on the treadmill. Although I also do yoga, and weight lifting regularly too.

How did you learn about the 5% Challenges? Spark People in 2013
How many 5% Challenges have you done? Four challenges per year since Fall 2013
What do you like to do for fun? Walk with our dogs, hike, bike, yoga, fish, camp, and be outdoors.
What major city do you live in or near? Portland, Oregon (about 3 hours from us, we live in Eastern Oregon).
Do you have a pet? We have 3 dogs. Our lab, George, is an ailing senior. We have two jack Russell terriers, Sunshine, a mix and Max, a purebred.
What is your health/fitness goals this season? Daily Yoga and walking/hiking. Strength train with weights 3x per week. Continue with our heart healthy eating plan.
How would your pet or friend describe you? Loyal, good cook, fun roommate.
What is the last thing you finished? Give it a name if you can. Finished remodel on our travel trailer.
What is your favorite TV show? Don't watch much TV. Big Bang Theory or any sitcom for a laugh is great.

What are your health/fitness goals for this season? Have to say, just get healthier. In July, I saw the doctor, and was not happy with my blood pressure and weight. I knew it was time to increase CV fitness and better my numbers.

What major city do you live in or near? State? Tell us a bit about where you live. Wasilla, Alaska otherwise known as the home of Sarah Palin. Moved up here in 2006, prior to her getting popular and liked the small town anonymity. Didn't last long.
Do you have a pet? 2 dogs and 14 cats (7 indoor, 5 cattery, 2 garage)
What are your health/fitness goals for this season? Get back on my feet after a severe bout of cellulitis over the summer. Find a diet that helps me lose weight when exercise is at a bare minimum.
How would your pet or friend describe you? Patient, generous, snarky, lover of animals and nature. People? Not so much (but most are okay).
What is the last thing you finished? Give it a name if you can. Cleaning out the fridges and freezers. Every winter they will be refill and have to be cleaned again.

What are your favorite fall activities? Staying warm. Watching the birds (ravens, magpies, bald eagles, merlins, woodpeckers, Steller's jays, pine grosbeaks, and tons of songbirds). Do a lot of reading with cats and dogs keeping me warm.

2 fun things about you? I've learned to type with just my right hand since my Black Velcro cat is always on my left arm and my hand goes numb. And I chose series of books that have a lot of books, read them in order, and start on another one. Right now I'm reading Debbie Macomber, and when I'm done, I'll be reading the Bones series (Kathy Reich).
Do you have a diet or fitness tip to share? For me, a tiny "indulgence of the day" keeps me from gorging. For example, today was ten plain M&M's. Yesterday was a chocolate almond latte.
Anything else you would like to share? I'm still trying to get back on my feet after a six-day hospital stay in early August for severe cellulitis.

One of our many visitors - a female red fox, taken May 2022. She would sit on the snow hill and nap until I went out and filled the bird feeders. She'd follow me to Ellie's place, then go back in the woods. Her daughter and son now follow Hubby who is doing the feeding while I'm infirmed.
My favorite drink - we have a soda shop that makes Northern lights tea. It grape syrup, lemonade, lime syrup and hibiscus tea. I learned the first time to enjoy the look, then stir before drinking or your first sip is all grape syrup.

The last joint in my middle finger on one of my hands is fused because I crushed it in a hiking accident when I was 15.

Make it fun or practical in some way. I recognized how much strenuous exercise cleared my head of all the scary thoughts. Got me outside or in the gym substantially more.
