Every small step forward counts! 😊
I had planned on working out yesterday morning (gym clothes laid out and everything), however my dog, Cooper, wanted to snuggle all morning. Lately, he likes to lean against me on the couch together, and then he will proceed to flop over and across my lap. Instead, he and I went on a nice long walk after work despite it being below 30 degrees.
This morning, my husband and I just finished a great spin class, and now we’re off to our farmers’ market to pick up most of our groceries. We love being able to support our local farms year-round.4 -
@wishfuljune i hate leaving my dog too! What kind of dog do you have? They can be so persuasive when they want to be.
@Kali225 wow, what a wild story. So so glad you're okay and thankful for the good Samaritan who got the license plate. Bummer way to start the year.
@micki48 what a gorgeous looking restaurant and you chose a beautiful dish. Hope your daughter enjoyed her birthday.
@Gidgitgoescrzy i am having some shoulder issues too. I actually booked a physio appointment overnight as I was in bed in pain and figured I should see if they can help. I've noticed my shoulder mobility is poor - anything over my head like pulling off a shirt or a sports bra hurts. So fingers crossed they can help.
Thanks for all the encouragement on my 100 Day Peloton challenge. After work yesterday we did a 10 minute weights class to keep it alive. Plan today would be to bike. Then we have a dinner out with friends tonight.5 -

Thank you for taking the time to read my reflections and I’m so glad you were able to check out that blog post.
I’m currently reading about behavior change and it’s been very insightful for me—the YouTube video help to make it make sense to me —Nir has a great book called Indistractable that I also revisit every year.

I liked that article! I wish it had slightly more on how to make changes using the matrix.
With the garmin, I have joined 2 challenges for January and one from January to March. This has definitely got me walking more again (on luch at work). I have been good with exercise the last year and gotten in good habits. It's eating within calorie range that's hard for me. So far I've been tracking everyday and staying within range. Now just to keep doing it to form a new habit.3 -

He’s a beagle mix, so he loves to be a couch potato and snuggle when he’s inside. When we go outside, he’s in detective mode and wants to walk forever, which I don’t mind at all since it gets me moving too!3 -
@wishfuljune Gotta love our furry companions for that!
Saturday around here was good. We had breakfast and Brad wanted to start running errands but I insisted we ride the Peloton first before the day started. As the day gets going, excuses are easier to come by. So, we did that, and we both felt better for it. We met friends for dinner at a share plates style restaurant and had some of the best charred cabbage and cauliflower ever - along with some pasta, tuna crudo, and scallops. And coconut cake for dessert! Yum!
We have a friend we are taking for a belated Christmas lunch today.. ideally we wouldn't have two meals out on a weekend but with Brad's mom's passing in December some plans had to get pushed. We are looking forward to it.
Jan 4 exercise:
4868 steps + 32 minutes Peloton
Week 1 steps are due (Dec 29-Jan 4) for all the participants! Can't wait to see how things panned out for everyone.5 -
She's gone home!! My house is quiet, I'm up early and have my book and my tea, and I'm not wearing a bra, and everything feels right with the world. House guests are HARD!!
I cleaned out the fridge yesterday, got rid of the last of the holiday leftovers, and am ready to do a big shop. I have zucchini soup already made, a decent amount of fresh veg, but I need a bunch of essentials, the last 2 weeks have just been shopping for specific meals due to differing tastes. I'm going to cook a fancy fish dish tonight to celebrate having my house back haha.
Please don't get me wrong. I love her, truly. But 2 weeks is too long 24/7.4 -

We got some snow this afternoon! ❄️❄️ It looked pretty and didn't accummulate which made it even nicer! Tonight, we are having either rain or freezing rain. The temp is right on the border, but I am definitely hoping for just rain.
@Alatariel75 enjoy your house back to yourself! 😊
@ashleycarole86 smart idea to ride the peleton first thing in the morning. Except for when I do bodypump (class is at 6pm) I prefer to exercise in the morning.
Discussion Question
Do you eat breakfast? If so, what are your typical go to meals?
I always eat breakfast, as I learned that if I don't, I get extra hungry and binge from 3p-7p. For breakfast I either like eggs or Kodiak protein pancakes.
( @StayFITTer )1 -
@lauren_989 thank you!! Aw, I love snow, but only when I don't need to function in it haha. Recreational or scenic only, please!!
I don't eat breakfast, I have my first meal between 11-1, I'm the opposite to you - I find that if I have breakfast I am hungry the rest of the day and struggle to manage my calories, whereas if I hold off, then I can manage my day's intake much more easily!3 -

@lauren_989 Yes, we always have breakfast. My husband does all the cooking and breakfast is usually the meal he goes all out for. We have a variety of things - fruit bowls, breakfast sandwiches, eggs and omelets, pancakes, french toast - he does it all.
@Alatariel75 I can totally relate because we had family here for the same length of time and felt the same way. Thanks for the steps. As our weeks always start on a Sunday, week 1 actually includes Dec 29-31 as well. Do you happen to have your exercise for those days also?2 -
Woot way to go captain @lauren_989 being first for our team this week!
You are always hyping the rest of us but you deserve some kudos!4 -

Plus we had 55% of our team in the green! 🎉4 -
It was 6 p.m. and Brad and I were snuggled up on the couch watching football and we still managed to peel our butts off the couch and do a Peloton ride.
This ride was the first since getting back to it where it didn't feel so mentally tough.
It's a good feeling.6 -

I do eat breakfast most of the time, especially because I find I need the energy for my workouts in the morning.
Right now, I have been enjoying a toasted bagel with cream cheese to get my day started, but I’ve also done overnight oats, eggs and avocado toast, oatmeal, and smoothie bowls. When we go out for breakfast, 90% of the time, I choose savory options like eggs benedict or an omelet, but I’ll occasionally treat myself to pancakes. In the summer, I had some of the best peaches & cream pancakes of my life, and I can’t wait for that restaurant to have them again on their menu.

Yes. I eat oatmeal, banana, almonds with scoop of plant based protein powder and frozen fruit typically “brain berries” (blueberries) —but today it’s gonna be mangos
If I have more time —I love to do egg whites with veggies to switch it up —but oatmeal is the mainstay.

THE BEHAVIOR Matrix does have how to apply in the video—I’ll see what I can do to share my notes… I need to write an article for another group…and I think I’ll do this topic.

I always eat breakfast, but I may have my coffee first then eat if I’m home. On school days I usually have sourdough toast with avocado or whipped cream cheese with arugula on top with a side of berries. Usually raspberries. If I have time I do prefer to have an egg or two. I find the protein helps my weight loss and keeps me full. School days I usually have a snack later of Cherry Greek yogurt with granola, nuts, or seeds. It’s been a long time since Ive had cereal or oatmeal. Maybe I should have that sometime.3 -
Not my best week, but getting back into it. Lots of sitting activities as opposed to my teaching first graders.

OK, so we did something silly, and impulsive but also exciting and fun, and we have adopted a new puppy to join the family! We had a meet and greet with him and our 8 year old dog on Saturday and they got along so well, and we have been OK'd to pick him up tonight! He's a bully x, just like our older dog, he's 12 weeks old and he's a darling. He's coming from a rescue after he and his brother were found abandoned.
He's going to be a lot of energy, and I'm very aware that while there will be lots of short walks, they will be for training and engagement, and not for my exercise, so I'm going to have to be more mindful of getting my deliberate exercise in! I do look forward to having a walking buddy when he's bigger, though. My dear dog has had knee surgery and has a short battery life haha.
I'm nervous, but we are in a great position to have a second pup (working from home, huge yard, loving older dog) and I think this is a wonderful move. Photos to come!3
