Bookphilosopher diary

In 2022, I gained 50lbs due to having surgery. In 2024, I lost 51lbs by using an app called food view where you take photos of your food. While that was working for a while, in December I realized that I needed to start more accurately tracking my portion sizes. The photo app was great for seeing what I was eating but not so great for seeing how much I was eating. I got off track Nov 26th and got back on track yesterday when I started on this app.

I am in college and begin my semester next Wednesday. I was hoping to at least maintain my weight loss from last year through out this semester. My goal is to lose one more lb, then maintain my current weight loss and then in the summer lose more, and then September 2025 switch to maintenance during the semester again. I graduate May 2025. Obviously if I lost weight during this semester that would be cool but my main goal is to maintain my weight loss and at least not gain weight

My schedule is kinda busy. Besides school, I go to the chiropractor two times a week, PT once a week and sometimes to acupuncture. I'm allergic to gluten and dairy, sensitive to soy and some other things.

Jan thru May 2025 goals:
1. No unneeded shopping until June (I don't work during the semester so need to not spend money)
2. Plan my eating in the mfp app everyday to stay within my calorie goal in order to maintain my 51 lb loss from last year

(I will reassess and come up with goals for the summer when the semester ends in May)

1/19's goal: walk around campus to find classrooms. Time the walk to see how much exercise I will be getting on different days of the week. Will update tomorrow on how much walking I should be doing on MWF class days, and the TTH class days

Today I walked campus with my boyfriend. From my car to the class I have on MWF is only a 6 minute walk one way which is shorter than I liked as I was hoping to get some exercise in since I have a hard time exercising. The class I have for TTH is a 16 minute walk one way so those days I'll get some exercise in!

We got a lot of snow overnight. Probably won't get a walk in today.

Today I went to the chiropractor and sauna. Didn't sleep well last night. I'm proud of myself for doing so well planning my food on this app the last three days. Today is going well food wise also.

School starts Wednesday. I wish I felt a little healthier/ready for the semester but time waits for no one. I bet by the end of the semester I will be and feel healthier than I am right now!

I can feel my willpower trying to break today.

Super grey out and lots of snow. Very cold. Our heat isn't doing a good job keeping up.

Slept okay last night but not great so still feeling tired since I barely slept the night before.

I hope everyone is having a better day.

I feel off today. I think it's the cold weather and snow.

My class for tomorrow changed buildings so I'll have to time the walk on the way to class to figure out how much exercise I will be getting on Tuesdays/Thursdays.

have you tried talking to your doctor about anxiety medication? I once asked the doctor to give me something so I wouldn't feel like killing my aunt when we were together. She determined that I might need something more consistent. Originally I wasn't sold but my world felt a lot brighter and I was more outgoing after taking it.

I am now taking anxiety meds for a different reason (yes my aunt is still annoying) but my brain thinks i will die if i go to sleep... they still help though.

Yeah I used to be on an anxiety med a while back. I just have been feeling off because of all the snow and the sub zero weather. It's supposed to be a bit warmer next week though.

I decided to buy a warmer winter coat and also take today off of tracking.

Feeling really happy tonight. I'm pleased with my class schedule and am super excited about my Tuesday/Thursday class. It's with a professor who I've had a few classes in the past with.

I timed the walk from where I park my vehicle to the classroom and it's 17 minutes each way. This makes me happy because my goal is to try to get 15 mins of exercise a day at least and this means I'll get over a half hour at least on Tuesdays and Thursdays!

I also bought a warmed coat and gloves so I'm less affected by the weather which helped a lot. I bought a walking pad also the other week but it hasn't come in yet. I really felt like I got the endorphins flowing from walking to class today.

Tomorrow I have to go grocery shopping which I generally go on Fridays. Saturday I have friends over for a game night and Sunday I'll do reading for classes.

I didn't track today but I made a plan for my food for the next few days. Feeling good about it and my plan for exercise.

Tonight I had friends over for a game night. It was really fun. I had planned on eating one serving of chips and salsa. Unfortunately I read the bag wrong. I thought it said that 16 chips were a serving but it actually said that there were 16 servings in the bag. Since a serving was 9 chips but I ate 16, I accidentally ate almost two servings. So I accidentally went over my goal today even though I had planned out the day. Oh well, sometimes mistakes are made.

The good news is today after taking a shower, I noticed the skin under my butt is becoming toned! I feel much more motivated to keep walking and exercising now that I see changes! And I only started exercising two weeks ago. My bf noticed too so the change definitely wasn't in my head. I can't wait for my walking pad to come in!

Goal for 1/26: get back on track with tracking food, start reading for class

I'm snickering at you going over by 7 chips... that's good Book. I would have eaten the entire bag hanging out with friends. You still made your goal of limiting the amount you would eat.

I guess it actually is kind of funny now that I think of it! I was just so disappointed to realize a serving size was only 9 chips and not 16. 16 chips felt sufficient, 9 feels lame.

Well I absolutely did not get back on track tracking today. However I did read 65 pages for class and write notes on the reading. I also went for a 40 minute walk today.

1/27 goal: go for a walk, keep reading for class, actually get back on track with tracking food

I had been planning my food ahead but now that the semester started it's gotten a little harder since I don't always know where I'll be during the day if stuff comes up.

But today I logged and got back on track.

My walking pad came in and I love it! Got a 30 minute walk in. Very busy day today and yesterday. Tomorrow and Thursday will be busy also but hopefully Wednesday and Friday will be slower.

I read another 60 pages for class so I've been doing well on my goal of reading for class every day and walking every day!

    Goal for 1/28:
Finish the book for class, take a half hour walk (this will automatically happen as long as I attend class)

Awesome! I have a walking pad too but I left it at my mother's house. I'll look into getting it once I get more weight off. I don't think I will ever get to the point where i can walk a mile and a half again but I really do miss it. If it's not too personal, what are you studying?
