after three months of low carb dieting

My morning blood sugar is finally lower than my weight. BS 159 Weight 162. I hope to be in the normal/ideal range in another three months. No drugs, just diet and exercise.

weight 161.5. Just 16 pounds to go before I am no longer overweight! At the top end of ideal weight, true, but I hadn't realized I was that close.

Blood sugar down to 137 this am. I know it is 37 points off normal, but it is down 60+ points since I started and just with diet and exercise. I confess, it is taking longer than I thought, has been frustrating in that the least little carb, even a complex carb eaten with other foods, sends it shooting up again, but I think I am getting there. Down 39 pounds too. 11.4 pounds to lose to be an ideal weight.

I am 155.6 today. Only ten pounds more to go before I am no longer officially overweight, but am in the (high end) of ideal weight. In October I was obese at 196.6. Now I am almost there. Not that i am going to stop there. I still have to completely reverse my T2. But it is nice to be closing in on the not overweight part of the chart.

That weight loss is going to help your glucose readings!

I've been in a plateau for three weeks bouncing from 155.8 to 155.4. Finally today I lost half a pound or so, to 154.8

And today I was 153.2. Who knows maybe those apple cider vingegar capsules do help with weight loss.

They haven't helped with blood sugar though, which is why I bought them. My BS has been up since I started taking them. :( Maybe it takes a while?

And my morning BS was 119. That's the lowest I think it has been in the morning.

119 is about as low as mine EVER is in the morning.

@2t9nty What does your doctor say about that?

151.0 this morning. The high end of ideal weight for my height is 145.6 I am getting there.

Sadly my BS was not as good this am, in spite of eating the exact same diet as the day before and doing another 1000 steps or so of exercise. I can't seem to get it right. Same diet, BS should be the same, esp with exercise the same or better.

I feel like a hamster in a wheel, I keep trying and trying and I never get there

I don't care if I have to diet myself down to 120. I am going to get this BS thing down to normal.

    @patriciafoley1

He says, "That is a heck of a thing." There are various possible explanations - stress in dreams triggers a glycogen dump from the liver or my body clock is giving me a little extra to start the day. There are fancy names for reasons this happens to people. I don't really need to understand it. It simply "is," and I accept that.

My doctor is interested in maintaining a good A1C without highs and lows. He is not so worried about specific readings unless they are out of some reasonable range.

So my BS tested at 120 this am, which is almost the lowest AM testing since I was diagnosed with T2. ( did have one at 7am that was 119 last Friday) I started dieting in October, and I'm down from 196.6 to 150.2.

I guess I should be happy, but I am feeling very down. My BS was high for the last several days in the AM and high all day for the past several days in spite of low carb dieting. When I home tested my A1C last Saturday, it was 7.3.

I got it lower with several days of less than 20 grams net carbs a day, and 800 calorie a day diets (with 20K steps) Basically the last few days, to get it back down, I have been burning more in exercise calories than taking in in food calories. This is not sustainable and it makes me sad that I had to do this. I am perfectly fine with a 1200 calorie a day diet and 50 grams of carbs a day. I am not happy with an 800 calorie a day diet, burning 1000 exercise calories, and less than 20 grams of carbs a day.

It seems pretty clear to me that I don't have much insulin response and even 50 grams of carbs a day is too much for me, at least at this point.

Too add to the stress, yesterday some kind of animal got trapped in the downspout of our utility building and I asked my brother to have a look at it, because I couldn't see how to get it out. Before he got down there, my German Shepherd had ripped open the downspout while I wasn't there, which made my brother (whose utility building it is) very mad. I SO wanted to eat after he yelled at me. But I didn't because I knew it would just set my BS back further, so I stayed at my 800 calories, and less than 20 grams of carbs. But I am very depressed.

I have blood work scheduled in three weeks, so I can't afford to screw up. in fact, I really feel like I have to double down on dieting and staying very low carb and high exercise to get a good result in the bloodwork, because even 50 carbs a day is going to ruin my blood sugar. I feel like it is going to be extremely hard to sustain this, and I am just feeling like it is insurmountable.

I seem to recall (sorry if I have you confused with someone else) that you live in a rural area. Are you able to see a diabetes educator or dietitian virtually? Have you seen an endocrinologist? (I haven't had access to one yet, but I understand some people with diabetes do).

I am impressed and inspired by your focus and dedication. I am just worried that 800 calories a day would deprive you of much-needed nutrition, especially with your activity level. Plus, it seems like it must be incredibly stressful to try to sustain that, and stress also can cause glucose spikes. Did your doctor give you a target range for your fasted glucose?

I do live in a rural area, and we have a rural health clinic. I never saw a doctor, only a nurse practitioner. I told her I didn't want meds, I would prefer to try and reverse the T2 with diet and exercise. And that was pretty much it as far as advice. So, no nutritionist, etc.

I was supposed to get bloodwork at the end of February, but it was impossible to get down our mountain which was covered in an inch thick sheet of bowling ball hard ice. So I rescheduled it for the middle of april, and they called me a few days ago to tell me due to a staff issue it would have to be the end of April. So I haven't seen them since October.

I eat very healthy, protein and veggies, and most of my carbs are from veggies. Occasionally I have a half cup of brown rice. I eat 1 gram carb keto bread, usually one slice a day.

I have basically five pounds left to lose before I am at the (high end) of ideal weight, and a (high end) normal BMI. Not that I want to stop there, I'd like to lose another 20-25 pounds. But I'd like to be normal weight and normal BMI when I go in for the appt, since I am so close. And I am hoping that will also improve my blood sugar. Of course it is much harder to lose weight the closer you get to target. In March I stayed in a plateau for over three weeks which set me back. But at least if I am no longer technically overweight and normal BMI according to the charts, I feel like I have done my part. So that's another reason for me to stay focused. I just don't know if I can stay so low calorie, high exercise and under 20 grams of carbs for another three weeks. But I do not want to see my BS back up in the high 140s in the morning again. Not after all this hard work, to sabotage myself for a few measly carbs.

The rescheduled doctor's appointment is really frustrating. We had a little snow, and I had an appointment rescheduled. This was back in January. First available was July! This was the dermatologist who keeps an eye on my moles, and I think her office is pretty busy with botox and all.

    3/23 155.6

    3/24 156.4

    3/25 155.4

    3/26 154.8

    3/27 153.2

    3/28 154.4

    3/29 153.6

8 pounds to go to get at the top end of ideal weight.

    3/30 153.6

3/31 153.0 met mini goal, next goal 150

    4/4 151.6

    4/5 151.0

4/8 Still 151.0 I kind of went off the rails on Sunday. I didn't eat over my calories but I ate late and high carb, so my BS went up and I had gained 1.5 pounds, prob mostly water weight and salt, yesterday. Now it's gone. Hopefully if I stay low carb and low sodium (and low calorie) I will lost a little this week. (Note high carb being more like 50 grams carbs that day instead of 20-30)

4/11 150.0 met mini goal of 150 Next mini goal 147.5 I have lost 46.6 pounds since October. Less than 5 pounds to go before I am no longer officially overweight and am on the high end of ideal weight

And my blood sugar was 106 before I ate breakfast at 11 am. It was 109 at 7:30 so for the first time my blood sugar actually WENT DOWN in mid morning before eating instead of going up 20 points.

106 is almost normal. I guess purgatory might be worth it. If I can only keep it up.

@2t9nty I sympathize re the rescheduling. As for the moles, can you have her just take them off? Now that I am living in super tick country, I am having the dematologist remove any bump that could feel like a tick, a couple at a time. I have a little bump or two along my bra line on my back that I'm going to get done next time and that will be the last. If your dermatologist can remove them, I would get them gone. It takes five minutes and frankly it's a great relief.

148.8 today!! But my BS was 110 this am, and instead of going down before breakfast it went up again. Go figure.
