Thank you for sharing that, @justgirl81. Yes, he is a hoarder. To him, it’s his life belongings, they reflect a well-lived life, with each object holding some sentimental value. And that would be fine if it didn’t create what I think are safety issues. His take - I’m being petty - I can easily move a table out the way, create a travel path - yes, all doabe, but why have to do that when you’re already feeling stressed from full time 24/7 caregiving?
Sigh. I’m not sure what the consequences even are - he knows I’ll never leave my mom with him alone and she’s worse without him - almost 65 years of marriage.It may be that I’m needing to treat this as a mental issue just to give him some grace - otherwise, I seethe with anger all day chalking it all up to narcissistic selfishness.

Does your mother live in that cluttered environment with him? Do you feel that it is safe for her? As I'm sure you know, hoarding can cause some major safety issues, including many that aren't as frequently contemplated, such as mold or blocked pathways for emergency providers. I wonder if he's aware of this. I'm sad you have to struggle with this sister. I would be upset as well. :(

whoa! Can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve posted. The prep to leave for my reunion, Memorial Day, prepping the house for the renovation, traveling - ugh. My back on track. I’ll see what damage was done tomorrow. I had a great time, so whatever the scale says won’t matter!
And yes, @justgirl81 - we all have to live in this environment of hoarding. My dad just thinks we’re exaggerating and messing with his “life”. It’s this time of year that gets to me as we can’t even sit outside on the nice deck. It’s a junk yard.1 -
