@morenin yes, I am also having random issues with the @ and can no longer quote previous posts at all. I get an error saying I don't have permission. 🤔 🤷‍♀️

I would like to join the May step challenge daily goal 10000 I am hoping to mostly walk outside around my neighborhood.

@DaffyGirl88 I saw some pictures from the 5 Boro Bike Tour, hope you had a great time!

@morenin as you can tell from this, the @ is hit or miss for me as well!

I too find that quoting is broken, and I've done a little experimentation with @ (mentions) to find out under which conditions it will work or not work.

I found the following Known Issues discussion in the MyfitnessPal Tech Support Questions category. It mentions both the above problems and a few others.

I've done a little experimenting and found this general behavior with mentions:

    • using @ at the beginning of a line doesn't work after you hit shift+enter (to avoid the extra line) but usually does work after you hit enter (for new paragraph; extra line)
    • if the dropdown opens after you enter @, it will then close for any of the following reasons:
      • you enter a space after the @
      • you enter after the @ any combination of characters until there are no matches in the dropdown
      • you enter some characters then hit backspace until the dropdown closes

Once the dropdown closes for any of these reasons, the system seems to shut off the function, presumably thinking you don't want to use the mentions feature. It won't turn on the function until it thinks you're done using the @ as just an @.

I've found this seems to get it working again:

    • hit enter (to start a new paragraph)
    • enter a few letters, e.g. "aaa", followed by a space, then "@" (it will ignore this one)
    • then enter another space, another "aaa", another space, then "@" (this one will work)
    • then carefully delete the unwanted text.

    Hope this helps.

Hey everyone, I hope you all had a good weekend.

I had a mostly lazy few days, with lots of sitting around, reading. I did go to the gym on both Saturday and Sunday, running about 5 miles on the treadmill each day. And I meal prepped a nice quinoa salad for a healthy lunch for a few days this week. I also tracked my calories on Sunday, for the first time in quite a while. I feel like I made some steps in the right direction. I'm planning on continuing these things this coming week.

I'll check in a few times this week to let you know how it's going for accountability. I've been pretty stressed lately with various upcoming appointments and such, and a bit overwhelmed with just life in general. I've let some of my healthy habits fall to the wayside as a result. I'm going to try to pull things back together this week.

I hope everyone has a good week!

@PatriceFitnessPal You're right, I do have a Peloton in my basement, along with a rowing machine, a Bowflex Max6, two sets of free weights (mine and my husband's), and one set of kettlebells 😁. I love my Peloton and ride it almost every day, easily 6 out of 7. I'm going to be a walking commercial here for a second LOL so bear with me. I love my bike but the greatest thing is that you do not need one!!!! For two years I used the Peloton app and an inexpensive 10 year old spin bike that I got off Amazon. In my mind the app is the best thing out there because it has SO much more than spinning. They have strength (with or without weights, kettlebell and barre classes), cycling, yoga, meditation, stretching (including foam rolling and mobility classes), indoor and outdoor running, indoor and outdoor walking, rowing, and various cardio classes, including dance cardio. The app is only $12.99 a month! Best money I ever spent, and I no kidding believe the Peloton app saved my life when COVID hit. I believe you can get a free trial for at least 30 days. I can sometimes give people 60 days but I'll have to check if that's available now.

As you know we bought our retirement home last year and it took us two years of looking to find one that met our needs. The two biggest items on the list were 1. space for a gym and 2. walkable to a downtown area. The town we were looking in (Salem VA.) has a great downtown with a library, 2 coffee shops, a brewery, and multiple other restaurants. (I'm sure by now you all know how important the library was to me 😊). We are 1 mile away from downtown in one direction, and all the fast-food chains, Kroger and Walmart in the other. Also about 1 mile from the daughter and grandsons but that was just an added bonus. 😊 Our intention in choosing that location was to give us the best opportunity to remain active after we retire.

He's a view of my gym.

@frankwbrown Hi, I am so sorry, but I'm on day 2 of what seems to be a mild stomach flu. My steps are only going to and from the bathroom, so they won't be great for a bit. >.>

    @PatriceFitnessPal

Yes I do have a home gym in my garage. I specifically look for a house that I would be able to put it in when home shopping. But I used to have to make due. I started with P90x and worked out in my living room. When I got more interested in weight lifting, I owned a tiny trailer house, like 13x60 maybe, I was 22 and a mom of 3,couldn't afford a gym membership, plus no one to watch my kids, so I bought a bench with small barbell off Facebook for $50 and put it in my shed, it barely fit and got funny looks from the neighbors but I made due. We moved to a slightly bigger place, and we had an addition that I put my bench and a treadmill in. Wasn't until years later that I had a garage and was able to get a bigger weight set up and an echelon bike. But funny enough, I decided to go back to where it started and am doing p90x

    Hi all!

    Monday steps: 9264

So close! But honestly surprised it was that high since we drove to VA yesterday. Where I do NOT have a gym…yet…just a small set of hand weights that will have to make do until we move here permanently. So when here walking is my main exercise, but like I said that's why we chose this location. It's a very walking friendly community. When I telework from here I watch groups of people walk past the house all day long. Looking forward to the day when I can run out and ask to join them.

    Have a great day everyone!

@DaffyGirl88 we are going to be up in your neck of the woods next month! We have a house booked at Smith Mountain Lake for a week and our family will be meeting us there. We will be visiting some dear friends in Roanoke first, and my sister in law lives in Rocky Mount so we will get to spend time with her too. It’s such a lovely area!

@cre804 Smith Mountain Lake is great. Would've loved to move there but it is definitely not walkable! Great for beaching and kayaking 🏖️🛶 though. I like Roanoke and look forward to visiting downtown more. We live by Roanoke College in Salem. Hope you have a great trip! 👍

@jessicakrall8 and @frankwbrown - I’m driving to South Carolina tomorrow and my son’s graduation is on Thursday, which is my weigh-in day. Should I report my weight before we leave tomorrow or skip this week’s weigh-in?

Thanks for all the pictures and descriptions of your workout spaces! I’m so impressed by your self-motivation. The Peloton app is intriguing @DaffyGirl88. Our rowing coachman sometimes plays videos for us during indoor workouts and I really like some of the instructors — I didn’t know they have rowing exercises though — 🤔 We live about a 2 minute walk to our local YMCA gym. It’s small but has everything I need. So, I guess I can’t complain despite my home gym envy!

    Enjoy your trip @cre804!

@PatriceFitnessPal I'd suggest weighing in early if it doesn't interfere with your preparations for travel. But it's really your choice.
