HOW IT ALL WORKS: The August challenge runs for five weeks, from August 3rd - August 30th.

Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win, and may everyone else get to work on next week!

We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every single week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leader board. In March we are aiming for every team to hit 50% green every week - let's do this!

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or can be moved to the Support Team for as long as you need. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love Introduce or re-introduce yourselves right away, and let's get August on the road! 😎

    Hi everyone, one more small introduction from my side, because I'm new and I'm not sure yet where should I post.

    So, I like the idea of supporting eachother towards succesful end of August.

    My weight today is 76.3 kg and my goal after 4 weeks is -2 kg.

    Success everyone!

    @micukica I was going to move your post here, but see you found the group!

    "Last few years I gained total 14-15 kg . In January was my highest weight ever ( 78.3 kg). Many times I came to 75 and then back to 77. This time I really, really want to stay focused and not to give up after two weeks, which I usually do, for who knows what exact reasons.

    My height is 169 cm. Weight today 76.3 kg

    I wish everyone successful and enjoyable caloric deficit in next four weeks( and longer, as long as needed)."

    Hello August! The new text editor and I are not friends, and my super long introduction post's format is no longer supported, so we're gonna write this over again from scratch and then copy and paste the new intro month after month…

    ANYWAY

    Hi, I'm Ashley! I'm one of your captains here for Team Weight No More. I am also one of the Moderators for the Fat2Fit group, so let's just say I keep plenty busy. If there are any questions or concerns or things you need, I'm your girl!

    Here's the Basics…

    Name: Ashley

    Age: 29 (until August 28th!)

    Pronouns: she/her

    Location: Ohio, USA

    Occupation: Chemical Engineer and Intellectual Property Manager by day, and Certified Personal Trainer by early morning/late evening (since November 2023!)

    Height: 5'7"

    Highest Weight: 234lbs

    Current Weight: 182lbs

    Lowest Weight: 6lb 10oz (August 28th, 1995)

    Lowest Adult Weight: 155lbs (although there were some heavy ED vibes, so I wouldn't romanticize that time of my life too much)

    Medical Diagnosis: Multiple Sclerosis

    My (Abbreviated) Health Journey…

    I've struggled with my health my entire life, spent a lot of my childhood in and out of hospitals, all that fun stuff. I also grew up in a Clean Plates Club™ household, around people who taught me how to eat my feelings (my delicious, delicious feelings) and were not fond of physical activity or spending time outside. Needless to say, this resulted in an unhealthy relationship with food, a distaste for exercise, and being uncomfortably overweight.

    Around the time I graduated from college, a doctor told me that I was on the verge of being pre-diabetic. As a child of a type 2 diabetic who did not take good care of himself, this terrified me. The same week I started my first "big girl job", I took my first spin class. Little did I know it would be the first of over 1200 spin classes (and counting!). Even littler did I know that it would lead to me attending bootcamps, trying out every fitness studio in the area, and eventually getting my personal training certification. And now? Now I coach group fitness classes (approx. 8 classes every week), have a personal trainer of my own, and design my own workouts.

    This isn't to say that all the results I've reached are from exercise alone. I've established healthier eating habits, begun drinking more water, getting better sleep, and giving myself proper time to recover. From experience, I can say that your shape is determined by how you move, but your size is determined by what you consume. At over 180 lbs, I am more comfortably wearing clothing that I bought when I was "skinny-fat" at 160 lbs - I have more muscle, less fat, and noticeable muscle definition. That number on the scale is not a sign of health, just a measure of how much mass you have.

    I have struggled against an eating disorder, an exercise addiction, a multiple sclerosis diagnosis (which still shapes my life to this day), long-term international travel, frequent work trips, dramatic break-ups, the general dating scene, debilitating health complications, family drama, holidays… whatever you're experiencing, know that you are not alone in your struggles. Whatever your situation, things are not hopeless, even when they feel like they are.

    And now for official Team Weight No More business:

    HUGE WELCOME TO…

    I'm Ashley, one of your two captains here on Team Weight No More. If you have any questions or concerns or confusion about the group, please let me know! I am more than happy to help out - I've been around MFP for 11 years now, captain of this team for 5, a moderator of F2F for 2, and a certified personal trainer for 1, so you are in good hands, I promise.

    We have two friends on the support team who indicated coming back in August, y'all ready?

    @melaniedscott and @Laurabb99, let me know either way - we can always push back your return to when you're truly ready for it. You know yourselves better than I do, better than any website or computer program.

    And lastly, because I keep forgetting…

    ~~ STEPS RESULTS | JULY WEEK 4: July 20th-26th ~~

    Total Steps: 270,267

    Total Steppers: 6

    Average Steps per Stepper: 45,045 (3.06% better than Week 3!)

    ~ THE LEADERBOARD ~

    @purple1butterfly - 70,013 total | 10,002 average

    @annliz23 - 59,112 total | 9,852 average - Most Steps in One Day!!!

    @blessedgrandma5 - 56,680 total | 8,097 average - Most Consistent!!!

    @golf2bFit - 45,420 total | 6,489 average

    @BodyTalking - 20,939 total | 2,991 average

    @ljdanny - 18,103 total | 2,586 average

    Way to get it done this week, steppers! I'm always impressed by the numbers you folks put up week after week, my feet honestly hurt just thinking about it.

    For those looking to join the steps challenge, all you have to do is post your steps in the chat, preferably Sunday - Saturday (weekly totals are fine too!) and we'll take care of the rest. If you have a specific step goal you'd like to meet, let us know and we'll track it for you.

    Typically, we will post the challenge results on the following Wednesday/Thursday (I've been a little overwhelmed this week, so it was late, whoops!). Our next results post will be for July Week 5, which is July 27th - August 2nd, so be sure to get your step counts in as soon as possible!

    I'm back from my vacation! I'm a day late because yesterday was a holiday and I forgot it was Monday, but I did weigh in. I had a great vacation and honestly I'm very happy with only a 1.1 lb gain, because I didn't really track and I ate well on my trip but I was probably less active than usual. Back at it again.

    @purple1butterfly - My week is going surprisingly well. I'm about to head out for a long weekend trip with old friends; we're gonna go to a waterpark and play games and eat good food, it'll be a fun time! I very much need a break from my routine.

    What's the purpose of the meeting at the gym tomorrow??

    welcome new team mates and everyone returning!!

    I’m Tracy, 53. I have been married 30 years, 2 kids and 3 grandchildren. I have been struggling with weight loss for many years now. I lose 2 pounds gain 5. My son gets married the end of this month and I wanted to have the weight gone but that isn’t going to happen. I also had back surgery in June so my steps are awful and I can’t work out. I see the dr next week hopefully I will be able to do more than I have been doing. I am on vacation right now but when I get back I’m going to get on the treadmill everyday. I was doing a couple times a week if I could. It will just depend on how I feel I guess.

    This month was the worst of my steps since January. I made a goal to beat each month. I have been able to do that until this past month. Total July steps 276,364 divided by 31days =8,915 average steps. I am going to really step it up this month.

    I was going to find out about how the gym works. They have trainers (pti's) there every time you use it. Each session is 45 minutes. A minimum of twice a week for £105 a month for 2 years.

    It will have to wait for a while as other bills need to be sorted first.

    Hey team sorry about the late post. I've had a hectic week and hadn't been to the gym. My name is John Sterling Scott Jr. I joined the group because I need the motivation. I work out all year around, but haven't gotten the results I want. Time for me to size down to about 190lbs. My weight and strength have been fluctuating so I reintroduced creatine about 3 weeks ago. I've been using myfitnesspal off and on for about 10 years. When consistent it works. Looking forward to being more active in the group. Im 36 and I currently live in Franklin, Virginia. I played baseball in high school which helps me with my exercise discipline, but I've hit a plateau. Looking forward to the upcoming weeks/months!

    Good morning! Sorry I was pretty MIA in July but I had all the things going on and needed a break. I'm Melanie, the other captain. Ashley really does most of the heavy lifting.

    I've been on MFP for a long time, lost a big chunk of weight early, then many life things happened and I gained it all back. And it brought friends. This is an MFP anniversary month. I think I might actually be at my highest weight ever today. SO, beginning this week, I am recommitting to myself.

    Welcome to all our new people, welcome back to our returning!
