Sometimes, pasta is the answer! Here's a yummy recipe for Puttanesca. Enjoy!

    Puttanesca image.jpg

The great thing about this puttanesca sauce is that in addition to pasta, it can be used on chicken and fish. This recipe will be for pasta, but in the case of chicken or fish, you want to season and pan sear the protein on both sides and then finish cooking it in the sauce.

    Ingredients:
1lb pasta (linguine, spaghetti, penne, rigatoni, are all fine)

Extra virgin olive oil6 cloves of garlic, sliced or minced

1 Fresno pepper, de-seeded and chopped

    5 anchovy filets

1 28 oz can of whole tomatoes (I prefer San Marzano)

    2 tbsps. capers

    1/2 cup sliced Kalamata olives

    2 tbsps. chopped parsley

Sauté the garlic in olive oil on medium heat, until fragrant. Add the chopped Fresno pepper and anchovy filets and sauté until the anchovies have dissolved. Add the capers and sauté a few more minutes. Add the tomatoes and raise the heat to medium-high. Once it begins to bubble, sauté for several minutes. Add the olives and parsley. Sauté for several more minutes. Taste and then season with salt and black pepper. The reason for waiting until the end is because the olives, capers, and anchovies are very salty already.
Cook the pasta while you are making the sauce. Once it is ready, drain and add it to the saucepan. Toss in the sauce and serve.

Hello Shape Shifters. The weather looked a bit questionable and it was still very windy. I decided to be safe and just walked from home around the fields here instead of in the forest. I did stay dry though, so that was good. Sore throat came back last evening and during the night. Just felt a little blegh in general today and I was cold a lot which I never am. Still went for my workout at the gym since it wasn't nearly bad enough to fail 75 hard over! Workout actually went pretty good too so I am glad I went. Tinus wanted a looot of laptime today which helped with not being cold, though I was under two blankets at one point. Even though I am only on day 5 of the challenge, I am already feeling a lot better mentally. Just having the routine and crossing things off my paper tracker feels really good. Happy to see my weight going down and resting heart rate dropping. I am hoping to get it under 50 at some point. Good night 🌙

    75 Hard - Day 4 (Monday)

    • Diet: 5 servings of fruit and vegetables
    • Exercise: 30-minute run
    • Alcohol: No alcohol
    • Exercise 2: Ab workout with my son, yoga & plank challenges
    • Reading: Read 10 pages
    • Water: I drank 80 ounces of water but most of it was later in the day so I need to build the habit of drinking more water earlier so I’m not playing catch up.

IMHO, we need more research on migraines and severe headaches, which affect women two (or almost three) times more than men, according to research by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and other groups. I suffered migraines from about age 15 until menopause. These days, I only experience a few headaches a year. It’s such a relief. I really emphasize with anyone dealing with them. If possible, rest is your friend— ❤️‍🩹

Hello Shape Shifters. Thanks for all the well wishes. I had a hellishly painful night sadly. For some reason laying down made the already bad pain even worse. I went to bed at 19:30, got up at 7:20 and in that time managed to get a whole 5 hours of sleep. My mom said I could take aspirin and paracetamol together and that it would work better that way (I did look up if it was safe first). I didn't know that, but I was glad to discover she was right. It at least made the pain managable enough that I could get some sleep. It was still one of the worst nights of my life though.

As you can imagine I didn't feel too good this morning. I did get my outdoor walk done, but I did the absolute bare minimum 45 minutes and it was not fun. I picked up my new body warmer after the walk and after breakfast I took another pill mix which helped a lot. I was extremely tired though so I did have a 2,5 hour nap in the afternoon and I cancelled my gym slot. I didn't think it would be smart to lift weights and risk making the problem worse, so I want to clear that with the doctor first. My second workout was another walk at home on the pad. Thankfully I felt a lot better and the pills seemed to work pretty well until around 17:30. I will take new ones before I go to bed in an hour or so. One fun thing is that I got a resting heart rate of 49 yesterday! That is the first time it has gone under 50. It seems like a fluke to me, but it is still cool. Eventually I hope to keep it under 50 every day. Good night 🌙
