I am on a sort of vacation until Friday. Visiting family as I won't be able to come down for Christmas. Hard to stay on track with alcohol and goodies as they are being offered and everyone partakes. I am keeping it steady though. No bingeing. Lots of exercise- this part of the family is very active. My sister has an awesome gym in her house.

I am Canadian so we already had thanksgiving. The next holiday will be Christmas.
How will you guys treat the holidays? Enjoy what's offered or stick to your guns?

So thankful for your kind words. Very inspiring. I'm going to be working with my doctor virtually and hopefully we'll come up with a plan that will get me out of the bed without so much pain. I hope you have been having a good day. Thanks again. Wishing everyone a successful day in reaching your goals.

Good night everyone. Hope your day was all you wanted it to be. I'm exhausted and headed to bed early. I know I won't get much sleep but at least my body will be happy. Lol

Sorry I'm late! Here are the steps results for the week of October 26 to November 1. It's my first time so let me know if I've missed anything!

    image.png

    Hello steppers! @ljdanny, @minstrelofsarcasm, @Emilienewme, @purple1butterfly, @dvmmcw7442

We finished week 5 with a total of 301,737 steps, with an average of 50,289 steps per person.

We walked over 1 million steps (1,075,989 total) in October! Great job! 🤯

    🌟Awards🌟

Most Steps in One Day @Emilienewme

    Most Consistent (Me) Jennyell85

Also a warm welcome to the new steppers who joined last month.

If you want to join the steps challenge: Post your steps for the week of November 2 to 8 in this thread by Wednesday, November 12! It's a new month, so lets see if we can hit that 1 million mark again!

Oh my goodness, here I was, freaking out about how I neglected to post the steps results yesterday, and @jennyell85 swoops in like the hero she is and did it already, thank you! Great step counts this month, folks! I'm absolutely holding the team average back with my step counts, but I promise, I'm getting PLENTY of movement in.

@dvmmcw7442 - I tend to enjoy little bits of everything, but rarely full servings of foods I wouldn't eat regularly. I recognize that I am allowed to eat whatever I want, but that consistently going outside of my routine ruins the purpose of the routine. What about you? Do you tend to indulge more during the holidays?

@dvmmcw7442 I also had Thanksgiving already, so I'm planning on being fairly diligent about my diet plan for the next 6 weeks or so. I am planning to take a maintenance break for a week or two at Christmas and new years. Not to go crazy with food, but just to enjoy my holidays, have a few treats, and not stress about it.

Then in January I'll start eating at a deficit again. I read that it can help with adherence and hunger levels for those that plan to be in a calorie deficit long term (which I do, having 100 lbs to lose.) We'll see if it works out!

I do the same for holidays, I take a bit of everything but try to keep my portions small, although desserts are my weakness.

I’d like to join the step challenge as well!

Good evening everyone. I'm so impressed with your steps. I hope to be there someday. Right now, I am starting out at trying to get 1,000 steps in. Today I got up and cleaned my apartment. I did a great job, if I have to say so myself. LOL of course, I'm in a lot of pain now but it's the kind of pain I can deal with. I don't want to overdo because if I hurt myself, I'll be out for a while. I am without a caregiver right now and that helps me to get up and do things myself. One day at a time.

I hope everyone had a great day. Enjoy your weekend.

Like a few of you I have already celebrated Thanksgiving last month. So I don't have that temptation to overeat to deal with this month.

We got hit with our first blast of winter yesterday. Once the sun comes up in an hour or so I will need to go and shovel my front walk and sidewalk otherwise it will be icy. I went yesterday and got some yarn so that I can start working on some new Christmas ornaments. Played a bit last night while watching some TV with my hubby.

This morning I will going to get my youngest from her group home for the night. I like to bring her home once a week. She enjoys playing with the dog. Shedoesn;t know it yet but I have arranged for her to meet up with a friend this afternoon as long as the roads are okay to get there. She also doesn't know that her older sister will be coming up from Lethbridge on Sunday for a few days!! I'm excited to see my second child, I don't get to see her enough. The 5 hour drive can be a long one.

Weird... so I just went to log my weight in the progress section. And there was nothing there. None of my previous weights. Hopefully its just a glitch but ive had weigh ins on there as far back as like 2014. Anyone have that issue?

https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/profile/1012057702/D_Jay_74 You are doing it!! Keep going! I can feel the accomplishment you are feeling in your post.

https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/profile/1004656013/majork29 I had the enjoyable experience of travelling from Calgary to Edmonton on Highway 2 yesterday during the snowstorm. Grateful for studded tires.

I am trying to think of holidays as just another day. I serve dessert every night to my family and don't feel the need to eat it. So why should holidays be any different?

Although my conscious brain tells me that, my unconscious brain drives me to eat the stuff. While away visiting family, I started off ok then as the week went on I made poorer and poorer choices. Because it is a choice. My subconscious thoughts are not able to put the food in my mouth. That is my conscious decision to do it. The last couple of days were not good. And I am paying for it today… listless, my gut is uncomfortable, and my brain feels foggy. I know this is from too much sugar because I feel good when I eat to fuel my body instead of giving in to urges. It is hard to change but I think it is harder feeling this terrible.

I am not quite sure what is happening but my weight hasn't moved the past 3 weeks... I guess it is better than going up. My half marathon training plan is starting to get longer runs in so I hope that will help (if I am mindful of what I eat)

I will post my steps for the week tomorrow, my Garmin app is not letting me see them at the moment

Good evening everyone. It has been a restful day for me. I did get in 30 minutes of seated exercise from my bed. It got my heart pumping and even got a little sweat. LOL

Melanie, thank you. I am feeling very hopeful for this challenge. Going to hang in there.

hi! Sorry I just started working full time and lost track of time. With that I didn’t lose any weight. As soon as I get home I shower and sit on the couch since I have a pretty physical job however that shouldn’t be an excuse 😞 can I make my weigh in on Saturdays?

@JenSamuel94 - Not a problem, I have changed your weigh-day to Saturdays. It's totally understandable that this fell into the cracks; starting anything new can take a toll! How do you feel about working full time?
