So I tried my recipe this morning for the very first time and it was certainly a new twist on BPC. At first is just put in my list of ingredients that I posted here, but after I tasted it, the bitterness was a little too much so I ended up adding a tsp of sugar. Then it was divine! I still couldn't taste the vanilla that I put in, so to "save" on the vanilla essence carbs, I might just switch it for the sugar and see how that goes.

But I was worried about the eggs truthfully. I blended everything else first, cracked the eggs into my plastic measuring cup and then blended them separately. The I placed the immersion blender back into the coffee and slowly added the eggs and the foam on that baby was impressive!!! But I managed to finish it all before I got to work, and because the eggs were cold from the fridge it cooled down the coffee a bit more than usual but this really isn't an issue for me.

All in all, I would say it's a resounding success!! Thanks to everyone who put in their recipes and suggestions :)

I found that a tablespoon of vanilla works in place of a teaspoon of sugar. I think much more than that and the alcohol in the vanilla starts coming out.

I've gotten it down to 8g of carbs so far, seems to be about as far as I can get it, while maintaining the flavor profile.

I must admit Dragonwolf, that the vanilla I added in BEFORE the sugar, did nothing for the sweetness. Maybe it comes down to a difference in brand. Mine is a local Barbadian brand and it's made here, but I think I'll try swapping one out for the other and see if there's a difference in taste. Otherwise it was rockin' goodness!!

I don't use the sugar for sweetness in this drink. As I mentioned earlier, I use it more as a spice - to bring out the other flavors - kind of like how salt is often used as a flavor enhancer. The vanilla seems to have the same effect as long as you don't use so much that the alcohol in it (I don't know about yours, but in the US, it's generally made with rum, sometimes vodka; the alcohol is what brings out the molecules that give it the flavor from the beans) starts overpowering the other flavors.

Well for me the sugar did give it a slight sweetness, but yes I would agree it also enhanced the flavors of the rest of the ingredients. It made it ultimately more drinkable than without it. I'm not sure exactly how our essence is made, but likely with rum as well. Will check my bottle and see what it says.

I modified my previous recipe to the following:

    8oz coffee
    1 tblsp organic cocoa
    1 tblsp butter
    2 eggs
    1 tsp natural cane sugar

This recipe for me was the absolute winner hands down!!! I could drink this every day!!!! This will stick with me now and I'm not sure it will ever change! lol

    BEST COFFEE EVER!!
