October weigh-ins! It's Fall and We Are Getting Small!

Welcome to October!

It is a SCARY month for all kinds of reasons. Not the least of which is HALLOWEEN!

I love Halloween. It is one of my favorite holidays, but for the last few years I have not really enjoyed it as much I used to because finding suitable costume ideas had become both difficult and depressing.

NOT THIS YEAR! I am about ten pound and two inches away from having CHOICES!

Right now I am waffling between a Deadwood style Al Swearengen sort of western theme, and a Colin Clive in Frankenstein mad scientist sort of get up. (Neither of the key costume elements came close to fitting when they arrived from The Gentleman's Emporium but they are SO CLOSE NOW...another 31 days of effort and I will be KICKING IT!)

Not that any of this is relevant to YOUR October journey, but I am excited and looking forward to the challenge. I hope you are too!

I want everyone to have the best possible October and then have CHOICES on Halloween night too!

    We don't have fall holidays here in DR, so the whole Halloween and Thanksgiving temptations is something I won't have to deal with. Looking forward October loses...

    I've also set up a few fitness related goals for myself.

    Mark! I LOVE Halloween. It is tied with Thanksgiving for favorite holiday! (I was born one week before Halloween. That might have something to do with it.)

    Your costume ideas sound fantastic. Pictures should definitely happen. You know, for posterity.

    I am going as the witch from the musical Into the Woods, after she has gone through her transformation. So think beautiful, not disfigured. I found the dress I'll be wearing - it is a gorgeous blue, white and silver ball gown that I got off the rack for only $16. There is a slight fit issue, as it is maybe half an inch too small and won't zip. However, it WILL zip by Halloween!! (and if for some reason it doesn't, I have a sister in law and a best friend who can Macgyver the crud out of it and make it work).

    I love fall time period. The smells, the leaves, pumpkins, hay rides and hot cider. As far as Halloween goes I just found out I'm off but I have to work the next day. I got invited to a party and there is a costume contest. First I was torn between a nun and a banana. Now I want to win the contest so I have to think of something awesome and different. I was thinking like skeletor or something that incorporates my one year old daughter she's going to be an ewok again this year because her costume still fits. I'll definitely be brainstorming.

    I worked so hard to get out of the 300's quickly, so I was a little sad to creep Into them again but it's only a smidge and I am back on track! September was a month of lessons learned and October is going to be a month of losing 11.6 lbs in 5 weeks :) I am ready.... I walked a total of 4 miles over 3 different walks yesterday, I have my wate bottle at work and I took my medication... October will be awesome for me! And more importantly awesome for us all!

    October is my birthday month... Back when I started, in May, i wanted to be 200lbs by my birthday... maybe it was just too much for a few months, I was 243 and wanted to lose +40lbs!!

    I am excited about getting into the 200's! I usually dress as a witch or "Madame Sahuna" fortune teller. I will be getting out my costume trunk this weekend. I bought 30 yards of tulle to make a Martha Stewart style "spectre" costume. I could be a fiendish apparition this year! I am still more of a pumpkin than a sexy witch this Halloween, but this will be my last fat Halloween. How many years have I said that and this time it will be true.

    Goals:
    - Get down past 309 lb. This will represent 100 lb lost from my all-time high of 409 lb in November of 2006. It will also mean that I have less than 100 lb to lose until my goal of 210 lb.
    - Get my 340 lb x 5 back squat. Missed it by one rep last month, and it is mine.
    - Raise my sleep average from 6.1 hours / night to 6.5 hours / night. I hope my children cooperate in this endeavor.

    Costume ideas: I was Black Dynamite last year, so maybe Bullhorn?

    Yahoo - ready to rock! I didn't confess this before, but I am in a little motivational challenge with my family (whomever loses the highest percentage each quarter, wins a prize)...quarter ends Nov 1!

    I did gain since my last weigh in (Sept 12) because of my hiatus, but I am confident that some of that is water gain from soda (back to water for me), and the rest will take a strong showing this month.

    LOL neither! I had a red T-shirt with the letters "TNT" on the front, and a skull-cap with what looked like a fuse glued to the top. Oh, and on the back were the words, "You Jive Turkey!"

    My kids are current fans of SlugTerra, so we might all be dressing up as the Shane gang. I love Halloween... I decorate the house and the outside. My eldest son's birthday is Oct 27, so he almost always want a halloween themed birthday party and his friends come in costumes and play Halloween games. It is so much fun!!!

  • Okay maybe I am the only one who dislikes Halloween! I dislike dressing up, I do however love all the cute little kids that come by! This year I will be me on Halloween hopefully 10 lbs lighter but still me :) I love thanksgiving however the good food the family visits (for those who don't know our thanksgiving is in two weeks up here in Canada)! I need a good plan for that too because I believe I have two thanksgiving dinners to go to! Yikes!!

    It is great to see all the positive starts to October! I am very excited for the outcome!
