Hello my fellow team members!!! This is JERubin1 here with a very important announcement. This is our official team thread!! Yea we finally have one now!! Anyway, I am going to be blunt and honest with all of you guys, I have tried to message our group leader fittoberunningmom but she never messaged me back, and after giving it a day or two I messaged our moderator about her absence, and asked her to help out with team navy's problem. And so I am now your team leader... if fittoberunningmom comes back and wants the position back then she can have it back if she shows that she is going to participate with us and be a good team leader for us, until then I am it, your stuck with me. So lets get this challenge started folks cause we are almost a whole week behind the other guys!!! I am going to start by introducing myself to team navy and telling everybody some of the reasons why I really want to do this. If anyone wants to add me to there friends list feel free to do so.

I am a twenty one year old female with a family history of wight gain and wight related diseases, I have never been in shape, I have always been overweight :frown: . I have never really thought much about losing weight, even though I didn't like what a saw in the mirror  , until just a couple of months ago, when my mother was told she had high cholesterol and my father was told he had high blood pressure:frown: . pretty much everyone in my family save my little brother is over wight at the moment and struggling with some minor health issue due to it, but I know it doesn't take much for a minor thing to become a major thing or a killing thing. I have had uncles die of Hart attacks due to high blood pressure and other issues that people thought were minor. So when I started seeing this happening to not only me but my family, I decided to take the steps it requires to prevent further harm, and try to reverse what has already been done. The only downside is my family wont join me in this, so I hope that m=by sticking to it and getting some results for myself will help them get started. Okay that's it for now sorry for making the post so long. :blushing:

Thank you for taking over. I was going to quit this challenge if there was no communication. I was on the mint team (why I was taken off I don't know) and the communication there was great.

I have been slow at getting this weight off. For every loss I figure I can splurge so I gain it back. I had to have a stern talk with myself last week to stop that mentality. Here's hoping it works.

I had blood work done last month and found out my numbers are way off. Sodium and potassium levels are very low, cholesterol is high but triglycerides are low and BP is low. I hate having blood work done for the simple fact I can't have breakfast until after the draw. Since my last numbers aren't that good I get to do it again in three month....oh joy! Here's hoping with better diet and more exercise I'll once again be in the realm of 'normal'.

Hello Team Navy!! Glad you grabbed the reins JERubin1! I'm 48 and have five sons. Besides our dog, I'm the only female in the house. I work full time and often times after coming home and making dinner, I just want to relax. I've been in shape before (the last time was about 10 years ago). For me it takes exercise - plain and simple. Exercise is necessary because I enjoy eating. I can diet and I understand people who say it's a life change, but I like food. Last time I was in shape I was able to maintain as long as I exercised. I could eat treats as long as I continued to exercise - makes sense, but for me it's not easy. I'm tired so I don't workout but I tell myself if I worked out consistently I wouldn't be so tired. :grumble: I'm hoping to get into a routine and stay there this time.

So, after that long winded paragraph, you know my crazy self. I also want to say I'm counting on all of you to keep me motivated.

I am totally jumping up and down in happiness right now cause I am so happy we are finally getting to communicate.
deluda I am sorry your blood work was bad sounds ruff, but at least your taking steps to make it better. I am not looking forward to mine i get to have that done on Monday, oh for joys. Hopefully you'll have a better time with it the next go around though.
stephnerR sounds like you have a busy life, but I am glad your part of our team but if you don't have much time for working out I have discovered a fun free work out site that has tons of workouts and each one only takes about ten to fifteen minutes to do at any one given time, so its great for on the go people. Your sons must be so proud of you for this right now. anyway here is the name of the website although she also posts her stuff on youtube.

I am so glad to here from all of you, and I hope we can all have fun and stay in touch. I hope I see some more posts soon. GO TEAM!!!

Go Navy - Woot - Woot!

Awesome first week! When I look at the great losses, it can be a bit disheartening because I only lost 1.8, but guess what, I continue to loose! I had been packing on weight pretty consistently for the past few years!

After tracking my food, it's obvious to me my calories aren't necessarily the issue, it's the fat, sugar, carbs, and sodium.

I've been drinking enough water - the game I play to drink water is I can drink one glass of Mio (lemonade flavor is my favorite) for every glass of plain water. I have two insulated glasses with me at most times. I always have one glass with me no matter where I am.

    My goals for week 2:

    - Complete week 5 of C25K
    - Log my food every day
    - Give some type of support to my MFP friends each day
    - Drink 16 cups of water daily (this is what is recommended for my weight)
    - Lose 1-2lbs this week

Come one ladies - we can do this!!

JERubin - I am joining you in you blogitates workouts. They look awesome and the few I watched did not require many (if any) props. I needed a stomach, arm, thigh, etc. workout - it looks like she has enough to keep anyone busy.

-Cut out all liquid calories that means i can only drink water

-post to and or support my team every day

Found out today you cannot edit posts after they have been posted for an hour. I reread my posting from yesterday and discovered I violated one of my pet peeves. I wrote "loose" instead of "lose". How could I do that? (Idiot) Anywho, today is another day.

Discoverdamb, I too am a stress eater (and I'm a worrier so I'm stressed a lot). Drinking that pesky water has helped me a lot. Before eating that treat, pound a few full glasses of water. It's amazing how that kills the urge to eat (most of the time).

JERubin1 - I love Blogilate. I think that site is just what I needed to round out my exercise and as you said they are short which is a huge bonus for me!

I am cooking dinner for my SO and I am about to go to work. I work nights. Today I did 20 min on the arc trainer. Got there late. And then went for an hour hike. Not the best food choices today. But at least I logged them in. I have a bad habit of not logging on days like today.

Started to work on my arms and chest today still doing my squats and crunches. Looking for new friends add me we need all the support we can get. :)

Sounds like everyone is really doing good  . I didn't have as good a day as some of you guys had today though, I logged my food but I had to skip breakfast because I had a doctors appointment, gah I hate blood work. But hey I did much better this time so I am happy. also I didn't get to work out, but I did do my yoga. Oh and does anyone know some good foods to eat to help you lose wight if you have PCOS? My doc thinks I may have it, she is sending me to a specialist to find out, but it could be part of the reason I have had such excessive wight gain. We have a strong family history of it, so she is 98% sure that this is what has been causing all my little health problems.

I've had a rough couple of days. Work is stressful - I am definitely a stress eater. I haven't eaten more (yet) but I feel really hungry all the time. I haven't felt like this is weeks. More water!! Our weather stinks too - that doesn't help me. We received more snow yesterday and it stuck. :grumble: I've lived in Wisconsin all of my life, but I long for a warmer climate.

Ouch I feel for you stephnerR that is difficult to live with glad I don't have to worry about that, I only have to worry about searing heat all the time, south east Texas what are you gunna do. And as for food I have a co worker that is dieting and has had a professional tell her that sometimes when your eating for a diet or just to lose wight without actually being on a diet you often feel hungry cause you might not be eating the right foods, like good carbohydrates or foods that don't have enough nutrients, you know like the low cal food bars that have no nutritional value at all as an example.

    So Cool!!! Congrats discoverdamb.

So far my day has been awful, ended up having a fight with my mom about my trying to lose weight. She is being totally unsupportive which is hard for me to deal with cause she has always supported me in anything and everything I have ever wanted.

I am so sorry. That has to be super hard to deal with. I am not going through it so all I can say is I hope it gets better for you and I am a great listener if you need someone to vent too. Just send me a message.

Thanks discoverdamb, I think my mom is afraid that I will do something stupid like aunt Kay did, my aunt kay used to go on starvation diets and she even fell in with steroids there near the end of her "health craze", she doesn't do that stuff anymore though. She'll come around though as long as I keep doing things the right way.

Hello - happy Friday!! I lost 2.2 this week (the spreadsheet says 1.8 - must be fuzzy math). As long as the scale goes down and not up, I'm happy.

JERubin1 - hang in there. My husband isn't supportive all the time either which is crazy because I know he want's me to lose weight. He doesn't like the fact I won't eat at McDonald's, etc. with him. I tell him when (if) I get to my maintenance weight I will add SOME of that kind of food back in but until then I need to stay away from Buffalo Wild Wings, McDonald's, etc. I'm finding that right now even if I fit them into my daily calorie goals, I'm ruined for days. (The scale goes up a bit and takes 3 or 4 days to move down again.) I know that sounds a bit crazy, but that is the way my weight has been forever.

    I'm going for a run/walk outside today - yippee!!

I almost forgot - my goals for the coming week are -

    1. Keep drinking a lot of water
    2. Enjoy Easter dinner and make smart choices. Make sure I exercise Saturday, Sunday and Monday to balance the Easter calories.
    3. Support my friends!
    4. finish W6 of the C25K
