Losing weight during Marathon Training

I am about 6 weeks out from my first marathon. I havent really lost weight, maybe 2 lbs? But i can definitely see a change in my body shape! Thats even after I've scaled back my strength training I do through rock climbing. I definitely have to watch what I eat and make sure that I'm still eating healthy though!0

I've managed to do a reasonable job of maintaining during marathon training.
I would think it's better to get close to goal weight before starting the training, though. I think you'll train better if you're not having to run a caloric deficit. Of course, these are my opinions as opposed to empirically tested hypotheses.0
