I made it to the pool Thursday-Sunday. Not logging many laps, but things are feeling more rhythmic and smooth. Baby steps. I am not giving it the full time I need to make quicker improvements, but I am putting beans in the jar. For now, that's a big part of my goal.0 -

Curly - it's more important to get some swimming in more often than it is to do 1 giant workout a week. You're doing things the right way & you're concentrating on form. Don't worry about the speed of improvements, stay focused on making the improvements properly.....
All freestyle today: 250, 500, 1000, 1500, 1500, 1000, 500, 250 in 114 minutes & I felt really good today, nice & strong. Hope it carries over to tomorrow's workout....0 -
Only had 1 dbl lane setup in the pool, 8 swimmers so the late comers migrated into the open pool and it wasn't pretty. They then added 1 single lane so a very crowded circle swim in both lanes. Still managed to get 1000m, 300 back, 400 front and 300 breast.

Thanks Mac. Yea I made the best of a bad situation.
Today was much better. 3 Double lanes 4 to a lane and we were even matched in speeds.

After a whole week of being sick (and then making sure I was recovered) I got back in the pool today. *sigh* I was all antsy from not swimming. 2km in 60minutes, lots of drills with the hand paddles and sprints.0

I was there. It felt like I forgot to tell my arms and legs what we were doing though. One of those days when it was all out of synch. I came home and put a bean in the jar though0

Ok great - I can record what it felt like too! . But you, poor MacS, I had a good day....So my deeply modest 30 mins without any attempt to record distance (I was just trying out new swimming techniques from my lessons) was ofcourse also an hour of gliding super fast up and down, in my mind at least.
Well done for sticking at it MacS! Hope tomorrow feels better.

50 minutes 25m pool 2L kick, 2L breaststroke 2L back interspersed with 2L Free, 52L total. A Kick length takes forever! Hope its worth it.0

1750m today - 1000m of that was continuous* which was farther than I've tried before. I was very much losing form by the end.
*continuous with the exception of throwing a ball out of my lane and snarking at a kid for swimming into me. Is March break over yet?0 -
Just my usual 6000. This time I stuck a 500 kickboard set in the middle. Otherwise all freestyle.
Different paces, different stroke paces, and different emphasis.
I've been trying to push myself a little more lately. Managed to maintain ~55 second laps for 20 laps, short stroke @ 24 stokes per length.
Later, tried to hit the same time for 20 laps keeping stroke count as close to 20 as possible. Definitely feel the triceps more when I'm doing more reach.

You're feeling the triceps more because they have more of a chance to engage, they're necessary for the more powerful pull.....0

40 min. Sprints.
Picked up something. My left hand definitely cross over under the body when I'm breathing on the right. Spent time correcting that!
Also spent time ensuring my whole body (primarily the back end below the waist) was higher up in the water.
Also engaging my lower feet more with the kick and getting more of a feel for the water with my lower feet!
I guess I must be adjusting if I can think of anything other than 'I'm going to die' during those sprints, let alone deficiencies in technique!
I'm also thinking the sprinting accentuates and brings into sharper focus some of my shortcomings, making them perhaps easier to identify, then when I'm on slower but steady swim, where the shortcomings may go into hiding!0 -
