Today I made an orange (whole) , banana (whole), fresh pineapple (6-8) chunks, mango (1/4) with (1/4 slice) apple and added in 2 stalks of celery, 1 grn cabbage leaf, (1/4 slice) avocado, 2 TBSP 2% Fage yogurt, 2 packets of stevia in the raw, 2 capfuls of vanilla extract & 2 TBSP flax seeds (optional) It was similar to a sample I tasted from Jamba juice. Tried the spinach in 2 different smoothies now and love it! I'm doing about 1/2 a cup per smoothie, does this sound right?
If you want a full serving of spinach in your smoothie it's 1 cup. But you don't taste it with all the fruit.0 -
2 cups spinach
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 Tbsp unsweetened peanut butter
1 frozen banana
1/2 cup blueberries
Blend!
I feel so good after drinking this and I'm full until lunch.0 -
Do you remember the commercials for Chia Pets? Who knew that the grain used to create crazy characters that grew "hair" before our eyes is considered a super food. According to Dr. Oz it, "delivers the maximum amount of nutrients with minimum calories." The chia seed helps to curb appetitie because it can absorb 12 times its own weight (it swells to make you feel full) and it is packed with fiber, omega fatty acids, calcium, antioxidants and protein. I don't have whey powder but I use 2 tablespoons of ground chia seeds in my bananna smoothie. It doesn't contain as much protein as using the whey powder but it sticks with you a long time!
1 cup almond milk
1 bananna
