Do you have a reference in the bible to prove this?

I heard that somewhere, never read the bible, just not the kind of fiction I am into.....and Christmas is really pulled from the pagan tradition of Yule....or so I am told....

Because Jesus was born during the census which happened in the spring, the church choose to celebrate it on Dec 25th to coincide with a pagan celebration to try and get more people to convert. Most christmas (tree, yule log, wreath) is ripped off from pagans.
Christ is not the REASON for the season

christmas is a pagan Holiday. which means its man made. Nowhere in the pages of scripture do we find an example of any disciple keeping Christmas. It was never celebrated by believers in Messiah until sometime after 300AD. The reality is, the only time Christmas is even mentioned in the pages of scripture is to declare how wrong it is to practice something like this.

According to Luke 2:8 the shepherds were out in the fields watching their flocks at night. This is apparently unlikely to take place in the winter

Though it is true that Jesus "may" not have been born on Christmas we do not know for sure since there is not established proof either way.

In reference to the bible, Luke 2: 8 states, "And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night." The tending of the flock leads many to believe Jesus Christ was born some time in spring. It is believed that Jesus birth could not have occurred during the cold-weather months of winter. Sheep were normally brought into pens or corrals as the weather turned colder and the rainy season began, especially at night.

However, as to the reason many celebrate Jesus Christ's birthday on December 25th, all goes back to history. In 274 C.E., the Roman emperor Aurelian established a feast of the birth of the Unconquered Sun, on December 25. Christmas, the argument goes, is really a spin-off from these pagan solar festivals. According to this theory, early Christians deliberately chose these dates to encourage the spread of Christmas and Christianity throughout the Roman world. If Christmas looked like a pagan holiday, more pagans would be open to both the holiday and the God whose birth it celebrated.

Every year without fail I see some person lose it on a cashier somewhere for saying "happy holidays" insted of "merry christmas".
It sucks because the poor cashiers are instructed to say this, since christians are not the only ones with a fricking holiday in Dec.
Please people it is not the REASON FOR THE SEASON atleast not the only one

Indeed this is how some take it. But dont we all use the word Christmas? So what is the difference between Christmas break and saying the world merry Christmas. We dont have a problem saying i am going Christmas shopping. Yet its offensive to say Merry Christmas?

True it is not the only holiday but just as you believe its not the reason for the season, many DO believe it is. They have just as much right to their belief as you do.

^^^^ just a small example of why I love being your friend!! We really get it a lot here in the South. I believe everyone has a right to believe whatever you want and worship what you want. For some it's Jesus, for others it's Budda, Allah, or chipmunks,...... For me I worship the Beer Gods And go to church in my garage where my 3 beer fridges reside! But that's just me!! :drinker:

Yes its true christmas is a pagan holiday as many christian holidays are or originated from.as a christian I have no issue with this being said, too many traditions have no biblical basis, but whats the point of arguing about it , not that anyone here is arguing

Lol born twice? Not technically.....Obama is big on giving...just make an Obama day and everyone can give others present too. Or i guess if it was named after Obama, nobody would get anything...never mind.

I didnt say they dont have a right to their belief, they dont have the right to blow up at some poor cashier for saying Happy Holidays witch covers all beliefs and holdiays. I could not care less if people say merry christmass or not,say whatever you want. But dont flip out on some poor over worked cashier for not saying merry christmas. That was the point I was trying to make.
Because every year without fail anytime im in a store atleast one person flips out and starts screaming about the reason for the season. I never once said I cared if people say Merry Christmass
