I can see how the line is blurred but it has to do with function.

An athletes purpose is to compete in a specific sport with focus in that area (ie. bball player will focus on hand/eye coordination, shooting, jumping, endurance etc)

A bodybuilders function is to develop muscles for its own purpose. Some athletes have to build muscle as a byproduct of their aim, so it depends - but mainly the focus of a bodybuilder is to form muscle

So what is the difference? A body builder just lifts weights, while an athlete lifts weights in addition to participating in a sport?

TBH the pic of Thiago Alves, he is actually too big for his sport at this point in time. Went for too much muscle mass and lost a bit of conditioning (can be contributed to weigh in dehydration).

A power lifter just lifts weights as well. Are they an athlete? I would generally say no.

An olympic lifter just lifts weights also. Are they an athlete? I would think yes because of the speed & technical difficulty required.

I don't know why I think different between power lifter & olympic lifter as they are both highly technical and so similar overall.

I'm 160lb and fairly lean. I'd like to be about 180 to 190 and a little bit leaner.

    Yeah, that'll do… :)

18 months? Maybe 2 or 3 bulk/cut cycles? I dunno, it's a work in progress and it'll take as long as it takes…

I am focused on just getting stronger and more fit so I can do the activities I want like rock climbing, kayaking/canoeing, mountain biking, scuba diving, backpacking and so on.

So I suppose the end product is an athletic and lean build.

I'd like to gain another 10 lbs of muscle (I'll probably gain 5-6lbs of fat also) then shred down to 10%BF. I prefer a functional body for what I enjoy doing, (rock climbing, kick boxing, wrestling, etc.) I can't do those things to the best of my ability if I become too large.

I'm aiming to have a physique like Shaun T, yeah I'm mirrin' his physique hard core (NO HOMO!)

I like the MMA builds. Very practical

Not that I even could get like this but to me ths is too big bangalore-steroids-supplements-india-bodybuilding-Body.9515244_std.jpg

At some point, it's for show and not for the advancement of the real life activities I would like to improve.

I want like... 67% body builder and 33% athletic build...I'm not really sure what I'm at now, but I know athleticism has a higher %

My preference is for athletic....think Allison Stokke. She's a female pole vaulter.

I tried to upload a pic but it's not working so this will have to do:

I horseback ride (three-day eventing), play squash and I was a competitive kayaker so athleticism is a priority.

Not all athletes are lean. Not all athletes have ideal physiques. NFL linemen are the first to come to mind here.

Personally, I want to look like a natural bodybuilder with 10%-15% most of the time.

Somewhere in between. As a 6'4 ecto though I'll never look like a BB'er in clothes, naturally.
