Any favorite C25K (or other running-related) sites (including blogs) that the rest of the group may find beneficial?

i heartily recommend fetcheveryone, its a spin off from the runners world magazine forums, predominantly for uk users but it does have international ones too, its full of information, in the form of forums, blogs and articals, its a very social website and i've found it really useful over the years. it has some great training tools on there too you can plan your route on maps and import it into your training diary, for more experienced runners who have all the gadgets you can import data from your garmins too. it also has running based games to encourage people to get out for more runs or explore new areas. you can also record other fitness activies too.0

Another one for Fetcheveyone.com and Lord Fetch would have your guts for garters if he heard you calling it a spin off from runners world lol0

I really like running the C25K plan with a podcast that has music that coincides with the runs. NHS healthcare has published some that even have tips and tricks embedded in them. You can get it in iTunes.1

Runners World has a ton of great stuff.
Active.com has useful information as well.0 -

This is a website more for those who are looking to increase speed. I found it when snooping around the marathon group and thought it would be helpful:
http://www.mcmillanrunning.com/
You enter your current race time, along with your goal time and it breaks down what pace your runs should be. It paces your long runs, tempos, hill and sprints. Basically "Running Faster for Dummies". Hahaha!0 -
Love it!0

Here's the "Hey Fat Girl" article. In case you want a good inspirational cry

there's a new site, called PhantomRunner (https://www.phantomrunner.com/) that has free weekly virtual races (monthly paid races too). It links with RunKeeper, so you can participate with your smartphone. It's a fun way to stay motivated week in and week out, it's a good way to ease into running if you're just getting started, and it's all free.
In full disclosure, I made the site, but I made it because I'm a runner and wanted to use something like this. I just released it a few days ago and will be making plenty of improvements and modifications in the near future. I hope some of you find it useful and fun!0 -

My husband and I used the nhs c25k podcasts last summer & really liked it. I'm going to check out the other link now, thanks!0 -
While I was gone I found some awesome running groups on Facebook. Run JunkEes Run Club, and Meg's Miles are two amazing support groups in Facebook for running. Both have Facebook groups and have become major running groups on social media.0

I use smashrun for uploading my running data to. It's extremely nerdy, consistantly gets new nerdy stuff added, and looks nice. I like it. If you want to you can add me as friend: http://smashrun.com/yirara.ra/invite0

Just started and using zenlabs (the original C25K) free version - man there are a lot of ads and it makes using the app 'in-motion' difficult. Only two days in and I might swap to something else.0
-
Update - I despise the zenlabs free version. In addition to the above the 'timing' screen keeps disappearing for adverts and when you remove the adverts it goes to the community home page. The app eats my battery so I put auto lock mode on today. I kept getting the messages "start walking", "start jogging" and when I had done the 9th of my 8 jogs I am supposed to do I checked the timings and after 26 minutes of a 30 minute work out I had 17 minutes left. I then left the app 'on' to complete and it ate the 20% of battery remaining before it completed the workout losing today's routine. IT SUCKS!0

For C25K the NHS programme really worked for me from pretty much a no exercise starting point. A good balance of occasional encouragement without being too interrupting. In the early stages 5 minutes seemed a very long time without a hint when actually that was just me struggling and hoping for the end of the run stage.0
