Don't get me wrong, all the contestants are great people I'm sure and we all love you more then chocolate, but really SHE believes in a Divine Being some do not. She sounds like she thinks she is superior because of her beliefs, some get angry mostly because of her choice of phrasing and a whole thread goes to heck while they debate it. It's fun at first but it's getting old.
Maybe I can help..
She'd like you all to know she doesn't mean for you to think she feels superior.
The combatants would like her to know no one hates her or her beliefs, just her phrasing.

You do realize that you don't have to keep reading, right? Maybe you find this thread meaningless enough to ridicule it in summarized version, but for some of this, it has deep meaning. This is a DEBATE thread. That's why we're in this group.
I think they're just trying to get the thread back on the initial topic since it has seemed to divert pretty far off course.

I'm mad at Patty and her beliefs. They are one and the same. I refuse to back down from the assertion that I have no moral foundation because I do not suscribe to the prefabricated moral foundation of ancient mesopotamian goat herders.
Most atheists I've discussed this with say they agree that atheism has no "moral foundation". I've tried asking you what your moral foundation is. I'm not being sarcastic when I ask you to educate me. To what is your morality founded/based on?

If you could imagine what that you and I were at the Alladdin Hotel in Vegas, they have this unbelievable buffet in the basement. I went 9 years ago, it was 34 dollars even back then. They have a section of the buffet from every part of the world. Italian, India, American, Chinese, Japanese. Anything you want.
Now replace those buffets with religion and philosophy from through our human history. I'm going from buffet to buffet, tasting a sample of everything they have to offer, and I keep what I like, toss away what I don't and decide what is awful or bad.
You pass up every buffet in that basement and go right to the Christian buffet. You get everything they have to offer and sit down across the table from me. You say, did you try the "Love thy neighbor?" I say, "Yeah, it was good." Then you scoop up a spoon full of "Stone thy unruly teenager" that has been sitting that looks spoiled an reall old. I ask, "Are you going to eat that, it looks sort of gross and unappealing"
You say "Yes, it was on the Christian buffet, so I think it tastes great, and what does it matter, because if you don't like everything on my Christian plate, you must not know what good food is." At which point I am going to flick my mashed potatos in your eye.0 -

I read this thread because of the topic, not to hear you preach. I was interested in everyone opinion about the TOPIC, which is something you haven't been ever close to for several pages now.
I was trying in a nice way to point that out. No one clicking on this header was doing it exclusively to watch the two of you go at it. As your name is not in the title I really didn't think it was all going to be about you.
However, thank you for the education about how I don't "have" to read the whole thing as a mentally deficient troglodyte I had no idea that I could stop reading at any time. Your brilliance is amazing.
The question is, do you HAVE to make the entire thread about you? Or perhaps better put, do you HAVE to hijack a thread to pick a fight? I was obviously mistaken in my original assessment of your motives (us coma patients can do that now an then) you are just trying to stir up trouble and pick fights. Adrian I apologize for thinking you were mistaken in believing she thought she was superior. However you must have noticed that she is just groping for attention by picking fights right?

But she isn't saying you don't have morals. She's talking about some moral "foundation". And it's a foundation you and I don't believe in at all. So why get mad about that? We believe it's innate within us, she believes it comes from the sky wizard. Tomato fricken tomahto.
If you want to insist you have morals prove it and act like it. Stop yelling at someone over the internet for believing something different than you. We don't care for it one bit when they do it to us. I won't let this great atheist movement that's going on become nothing more than a modern age Crusades. If we want to insist that our beliefs are better than than theirs we better damn well act like it.

I haven't yelled at anyone. I'm sitting behind a PC typing. I have used no vulgarity. I think Patti is doing a good job of defending herself and I completely understand that she never said the atheists didn't have morals, just no foundation for them. I get that, I just think it's not right and I will passionately defend it.

After all of that religious debate, I got a random call from a good friend of mine who is a chaplain....and he has free tickets to the Big Ten championship and wants to take me. PRAISE THE LORD!0
