the last 3 weeks are nearly the same - 3 /25 minute runs 3/28 minute runs, and 3/30 minute runs.
Lets all hang here for the last three since we'll be in more or less the same place

Sounds great!! Of course you will nearly be graduating by the time I get here...lol0
-
yeah but i plan to keep running 3xweek for 30 minutes while you guys are finishing the program --- both to keep you company AND because .... I'm slow as hell and I need to be faster.0
-
I'm also pretty slow but have finished W7D1. I sort of liked the intervals because it kept my mind busy - now I don't have to watch the clock except to lament over how much time is left! Better do some serious work on that running playlist now...0
-
I felt like I was running pretty slow too, but I ran at a track with distance postings today, so I discovered I am faster than I thought! I ran 3 miles in 34 minutes, so an 11:20ish pace, and that included a total of 19 minutes of running and 15 minutes of walking. The 8-minute runs were kind of difficult to get through today, but hoping that it will be the same kind of "difficutly" for the 20-minute one next time - I don't mind if it is hard as long as I can actually do it! I wonder why they didn't put the two 10-minute increments before the 20-minute one...0
-
wow daisi, I think that is REALLY fast honestly! Faster than I can probably do running the WHOLE thing.0
-
I am thinking maybe that is why the 8 minutes was semi-difficult? Maybe I need to slow down? If I slow down, maybe the 20-minutes won't be so impossible?0
-
I don't know if this really counts but I really did not feel like running outside today so I did 25 minutes running on the WII I know its just running in place but I did it for 25min. Yea for trying. LOL I get my butt in the cold this week. Go Week 70
-
Finished week 7 day 2 today (I think we are ab it behind, you guys will catch up!) . IT went well for me but horrible for my boyfriend. He is ALWAYS under-hydrated and normally we run in the evening when he has spenta ll afternoon drinking stuff so tis not too bad but today we went before lunch (which is our first meal) and he hadn't had much to drink the day before and he was close to passing out. He had to stop at 20 minutes.
I assume he'll want to repeat a day of week 7 to make up for this.0 -
Let him repeat it! You'll know you're really ahead.
I also did W7D2 today and I actually just kept going after the run was over. I certainly wasn't going very fast - covered about 4 miles in an hour so speed is something I have to work on, but I'm just impressed I haven't quit yet!0 -
Eventhough this is not technically a Week 7 - 8 - 9 succes, I wanted to share it with you ladies since I had previously shared my trepidation in completeing W5D3...
I am so fantastically proud of myself!!! I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!! Not only did I run 20 minutes, I ran 2 miles (the ENTIRE 2 miles) in 21 minutes and 40 seconds, giving me a pace of 5.5 mph, or 10:50 per mile! (I really wanted to run the entire 2 miles, and I felt like I could have run farther had time allowed!)
It was not nearly as difficult as I thought it would be. I found my stride some time in the first 5 minutes or so...I made sure to pace myself, and when the voice came on and said "You are halfway there, you have completed 10 minutes of running!", I didn't even feel like I had been running for 10 minutes! In my mind I was thinking that was 2 minutes longer than my longest interval so far...if I can do that, surely I can finish!! I also was able to turn my focus towards the distance rather than the time. I *really* wanted to clear the 2 miles in the 20 minutes, so I think my pace towards the end was a little faster as I focused on the goal rather than maintaining a feasible pace. This also helped with the mental aspect of the length of the run.
Interestingly enough the run I dreaded the most (I have dreaded it every. single. day. since I began the program) is the one I have (to date) enjoyed the most. I am sure it has SOMEthing to do with the fact that I am sooooo insanely proud of myself...but either way...lol0 -

Amazing! You SHOULD be proud of yourself! I remember the feeling I had when I finished W5 - I felt like I could take on the world because I never thought I'd be able to do it. Congratulations!!0 -
Thank you!!! I do feel like I could take on the world today! lol0
-
congrats, that is an amazing experience to have!0

W7 done! Finished day 3 today - was pretty easy... I guess I'm getting better!
I'm gonna take a couple days off and start week 8.0 -

Great job! Only two weeks left to go!0 -
W7 D1 done! yea me. On to day 20
-
did my day 3 but it was my BF's day 2 so I'll have 4 days of week 7 (Which has now been way longer than a week). I don't mind because I feel like I could really use another 25 minute run -- but of course you always feel that way at the end of the week like "oh man I am finally getting this but its still hard". So I'm sure I could go to the 28 minutes if I want.
I might try and do a loooong walk this weekend. Not sure where I'll walk to though, it helps me if I have somewhere to go.0 -
Finished W8D1 yesterday - it's getting real now! Only 5 more runs and I can call myself a C25K graduate!
Gonna do W8D2 tomorrow. And I'm in the gym so it's cool that I'm going nowhere tameko! :laugh:0 -
I don't know why but I am incapable of spending any time on a gym machine. Its excruciatingly boring for some reason - even though its EXACTLY the same motion that I do outside and I'm not like a nature lover or anything. I just like to feel like I'm going SOMEWHERE.0
-
tameko, I am the same way. I have done it before, but have always counted down every minute...0
-
Well i did all of week 7 except for 1 day on the wii. today I started week 8 but I modify it. Since I am ubber slower that all of you I decided to go for distance instead of minutes. So completed 2miles in 32 minutes so about a16:min pace. Now I know what I need to work on. So on to week 80
-
You all are doing so amazingly well! I didn't run the week before my holiday, of course I didn't run while on holiday, and didn't run the week after. I am going to have to put this on the back burner for now, it's just too cold and wet to run. I can't run on the treadmill, it's too hard on my knee, I have less impact stress running on grass and I can pull up when it twinges, I can't do that on the treadmill. I'll be hitting the gym though. Good luck everyone, I will pop in and cheer you on!0
-
Keep up on the cardio at the gym so you can pick up where you left off redfroggie - being this close to the end I dread something stopping me! I want to be able to say I've finished something like this.
I plan on doing W8D3 tonight - did some jogging over the weekend but not maintaining a run the full length of time so I didn't include it as C25K - just hoping it helps getting my speed up a bit.0 -

What about doing a similar program on an elliptical? That way you are still working on your endurance, but without the same impact as the treadmill?0 -
Aaah! So excited! Week 8 is done! I survived! Only one more week and I can hopefully say I'm a C25k graduate!! :bigsmile:0

Well, I *think* I completed W6D3... I ran (what was *supposed* to be) a 5K tonight and since my C25K session was supposed to be one 25 minute run, I decided to basically go for broke and run the whole thing if I could. I ran for the first 90 seconds, but then there was a substantial hill, and because I didn't warm up properly (I just could not start a race walking...), I let my breathing get out of control. So, I walked the next 90 seconds to 2 minutes (basically to the top of the hill) and then ran for the remaining time minus a 10 second stop to tie my shoe (extremely frustrating!!!).
I say the run was *supposed* to be a 5K, because it totally wasn't... I finished the race in 28 minutes and 32 seconds and knew there was no way in Hades I ran 3.2 miles in that short of a span of time, so I drove the course and clocked 2.8 miles. Then, when I got home, I used Google maps, which agreed - the course was only 2.8 miles.
I was a little disappointed that the course was so short, but I am ecstatically happy with my pace!! My first 5K was just under 40 minutes, which works out to 4.8 mph, and this time it was 6.0 mph. Considering I am only just completing the 6th week of the program, that's not too shabby!
Also, I say I *think* I completed W6D3 because with my shoe tying break, I didn't technically run the 22 minutes straight. It was a
90 second run, 2 minute walk, 12 minute run, 10 second stop, 13 minute run... I don't think I am going to stress about it too much anyway since W7D1 is not really that huge of a jump...0 -
My God! I am in the last week of C25K and it is kicking my butt! A 28 minute run non stop and then a 30 minute one and last a 35 minute run!
I am gonna keep pushing through!0 -
you must have adifferent program than us, mine is 3 30 minute runs for hte last week I think.
a 35 minute run is probably more accurate as MOST people aren't running at 10 minute mile at this point (other than our speedy friend Daisi!)
we did another run last night, which I guess is now my 3rd day of Week 7? or...4.th? Anyway BF couldn't finish it so I assume we'll be running it again. At this rate the rest of the challenge will be finished before I am!0 -
Thanks for the compliment! :blushing:0

True, but at the same time, in the grand scheme of things, you basically are moving ahead. Honestly, at this point, you could run the extra 2 or 3 minutes, just so you can say you are progressing to the next level. I would assume you aren't going to stop running once you complete the program, so basically even if your BF is still working on the program you could technically be considered a graduate.0
