Everything I have seen and from my OB 3rd trimester starts at 27w. Only one other place have I seen it starts at 26, but they also count differently. 26 weeks is technically the 27th week. They don't count a week till its been finished and you are into the next. So 26 weeks means you completed the 26th week and are now 1 day into your 27th week. Can be confusing.

I eat 2040 set by my OB, which according to MFP I should be losing 1lb a week. He doesn't want me to raise it in the 3rd trimester either, but that is because I am fat. Even with the huge weight loss before I got pregnant I am still overweight. I technically am not supposed to gain anymore weight, but yeah...not happening.

Becky...seems like how my DH is with this pregnancy too. There are nights when he is rubbing it constantly and talking with Skittle. Then other nights when he is almost bored lol. I dunno maybe the fact that this is our 4th is the difference. I am trying hard to make sure throughout the day I do little touches, rubs, and talks to Skittle. More for my sake I am sure lol! Oh and my MIL is pretty much the same...I corrupted my husband by letting him be the head of the household....whatever. So I feel your pain. Secretly (well maybe not so secretly) I would be ecstatic if we moved away from his family. They are all a bunch of fruit cakes.

I am feeling TERRIBLE! My nausea is back so I am on a steady diet of Zofran and hoping no more trips to the ER are in my future. My uterine pain and swelling are out of control these last few days, but they keep reassuring me that it is normal since there is no bleeding. There are days I can't even fully stand up because the pain in my uterus is so intense.

Oh and my emotions are stupid. I am not a emotional person and I do not cry easily...yet these last few days I am so weepy and its freaking DH out LOL! He is not used to a emotional and weepy wife!

BeckyJill - Have you talked to your doctor about your back pain? He could give you a Rx for physio/massage/acupuncture, etc. I had a massage last week and it was amazing! I slept like a rock that night! I was worried, though, I have two massage therapists I love at home and was leery about having to go to a new person, but she was just as good! I told her I'm not into fluffy massages, I want to get the kinks out, so don't be afraid to dig in (as much as you're allowed to on a pregnant client).

BeckyJill - My inlaws drive me bonkers. I usually bite my tongue with them, too, but once in a while I have to speak up. They are not fond of their other daughter-in-law (and SIL is not fond of them, either!), so they still see me as a saint. It all went downhill with SIL once they had kids, so I'm sure it'll go downhill for me eventually, too. They just have such different parenting views (older, different culture) and they think SIL does everything wrong and all of the family issues are because of her.

Lainn - I live far away from my inlaws (18hr drive/90 min flight) and it's great. Before we moved I felt like we spent too much time at their place each weekend, and I felt like they interfered (or tried to) with our lives too much. As much as I would love to move home, the fact that they are there would be a serious deterrent. I'd be worried about them treating us/our kids the way they do BIL's family. They constantly undermine BIL/SIL, and when SIL speaks up they start complaining about her as soon as she's out the door. My inlaws are now planning to visit us about a month after the baby comes (supposedly, will be their first visit, long story), and I'm honestly quite worried about hosting them. When I'm at their place I can find a reason to leave, but it'll be hard to find a reason to leave my own house with a new baby in late November!

I hear you about the emotions, too! I get weepy quite a bit, and last night I cried when I showed DH the lovely new spider veins on my thighs. My whole body has always been a veiny road-map (fair, veins close to the surface) but these ones are so dark! Definitely got my mom's genes there. Gah. :grumble:

Otherwise I think everything is going pretty well. Baby's kicks are super strong now and way more regular, which is awesome. Have been having a bit of pelvic pain (like bones seperating) when I do simple things like putting on pants or socks. One of my friends said at the end of her pregnancy she found getting in/out of the car difficult, and I think this pain is what she was referring to. Feels a bit early for it, so I'll mention it to my doc next time I see her. I need to ask her about Braxton Hicks, too. Some times when I work out I feel my uterus tighten up, but it goes away when I slow down for a few minutes and drink water. I think that's what it is. Anybody else getting them? Oh, I *finally* fit into the tops at the maternity stores now! Seems lame, but I'm totally excited!

You might have Pubic Bone Separation. I get that really bad while pregnant. It makes it hard to put on underwear and pants and almost impossible to roll over in bed. You can google it...there is a whole site for it. Sadly not much can be done for it, but chiropractic care. Was a life saver for me last pregnancy. Plus not sitting for long periods, using a birthing ball more often when you do sit. Flatish pillow between your knees at night. Warm compress on your lady bits can sometimes help too. Sorry :( it sucks

I totally forgot about rolling over in bed! It has become more difficult in the past week. I use a pillow between my legs at night, helps with back pain. The other morning I got up and hobbled to the washroom, and when I sat down I heard a "thunk" as though my bones were popping back into place or something. Every now and then I get a stabbing pain down there, but it doesn't usually last. I used to know a client through work who had pubic bone separation, but hers was so severe that she started using a cane very early on in pregnancy. I'm not that uncomfortable! I sit at a desk for work but try to get up regularly....

What kind of manipulations did your chiropractor do? When I mentioned my back pain to my doctor at my last appt she said she'd send me for massage as she's not a fan of chiro during pregnancy. Not sure why, though.

I've now officially gone from a 34B to a 36D...holy crap...at least that explains some of the weight gain

I've gone from a small 34C to a full 36D. I swear they make up at least 5lbs of the weight gain! When I was last home at 15w one of my friends commented, "Either you're still losing weight, or your boobs have grown!", which is how I ended up telling her I was pregnant. I've warned my friends that when they see me again in a few weeks I'll be sporting some porn-star boobs! I can't imagine how big they'll be when I breastfeed.... :frown:

That is what happens to me. It happens at odd times...going to the bathroom, turning in bed, squatting down, moving my legs and I hear that loud POP and then the pain feels better for a little while. Definitely sounds like pubic bone separation!

Chiropractic care while pregnant (with a Dr who is good and well trained to tend to a pregnant women's needs) is invaluable in my opinion. My OB totally recommended me going. Towards the end I was seeing mine everyday to help. We haven't the money this time :(

My chiropractor would adjust my neck and shoulders. I didn't get to lay on my tummy for the back so he would put me in a chair that had a opening for my tummy that I sat in. It leaned forward. And then he would adjust my hips which is what really helps with the pubic bone separation. He even worked on my wrists because they kept hurting too. Since our joints get so loose.

    I would check it out!

    Hello October Mommies!

I'm currently 26wks PG with our 3rd girl :) and she's due Oct. 23rd. My oldest daughter is 6yo and my youngest daughter is only 9 months old! So, the two little ones will be only 1 year and a couple weeks apart. Both were delivered via C-section and this one will be as well.

Decided to get back on MFP because I failed my 1-hr Glucose test last week and this morning found out that I also failed my 3-hr test. So, I have gestational diabetes (didn't have this issue with my first 2). I'm waiting to meet with a nutritionist on how my diet will have to change, how to monitor my blood sugar levels throughout the day, etc. Fun stuff - NOT! But I want to do what's best for me and the baby and tracking my food here on MFP will definitely help.

Looking forward to getting to know all of you.

flip- sorry about the diabetes, but good for you for coming to mfp and getting a handle on it! I'm nervous about mine because I've become a sugar junkie- natural and processed. Welcome to the group!

I'm going to have to ask my dr about a chiro or masseuse at my next appointment. My back hurts so bad- and only one side. I can feel it when I overextend my left leg or am sitting indian style (or really any time I'm on the ground). Thanks for all the recommendations. My dr has never mentioned a chiro or anything else. Won't hurt to ask right?

Holy Boobs is right!! I've gone from a D to a very healthy DD. These bad boys are getting a little crazy haha!

Woo hoo! Third trimester already! I am so excited to be getting closer to holding my newest baby but man, I do miss the energy that I had for the better part of the 2nd trimester.

How is everyone doing with weight gain/exercise? Have you adjusted your activity level at all? For the past 3 months or so, I have been walking for 35 minutes a day on the treadmill (just over 2 miles) but I have been feeling a little sore in my lower belly while walking so I have cut down to 25 minutes a day.

I'm starting to really stress about weight too. With my 1st, I gained 90 lbs (crazy, right?!), with my second, I kept a food journal and gained 40. I was really hoping that being active and tracking my food intake pretty regularly, I would be able to stay at a 25 lb gain. As of this morning, at 27w4d, I am up 20.5 lbs. =( I have had my calories at maintenance (2050) since I entered my 2nd trimester and I usually eat my exercise calories.

I hit third trimester next week! My weight is just ridiculous...I think that MFP calories are just not adjusted for me so I'm trying to figure it out through trial and error. I really don't want to go above 40 but it looks like I'm heading there. I've made a ton of changes to my diet to no avail! So frustrating...

Good news though, our nursery is getting finished this weekend! I have a work shower the first week of August and a friends/family shower the third week of August. So excited! Hoping to get the rest of the sheets, etc. during those so I can have the room totally finished and just waiting for the lil' one.

I've noticed a couple of funny things about the boy:

1: He LOVES Doctor Who, we started an episode and he started flipping around when the theme song came on!

    and

2: He is a trickster who never moves for Dad  , he'll be moving constantly and then the second Hubs puts his hand on my stomach...SILENCE

At my 20wk appt I had only gained a total of 7lbs BUT at my 25wk appt I managed to gain another 8lbs in only 5 wks. My doctor was really concerned and told me to cut out fruit juice, sodas, junk food, potato chips, sodium, etc. I also took my 1-hr Glucose that day and 3-hr Glucose test 2 days later and failed both. I changed my diet starting last Thursday (no more fast food, ice cream, sweets, fried foods, etc.) and I managed to lose about 5lbs in a week. I know that seems like a lot but I was really bloated at my last appt.

I'm hoping to see the nutritionist soon so I can get a plan to tackle the GD. I've been doing a lot of research on-line and have talked with friends who've had GD and they all pretty much coincide with the diet I've been doing. I just want to make sure it's in-line with what the nutritionist says for my body type, height and making sure the baby is still getting all her nutrients, etc.

I still hadn't lost my baby weight from the last PG (my baby was only 3mo old when I found out I was PG) so I was at my heaviest starting point for this PG. I'm hoping to only gain a total of 25lbs during this PG.

I'm a fellow October 2012 GD mom-to-be! After seeing the nutritionist and diabetes doctor and figuring out the diet plan - I'm totally fine with having GD. In fact, I know I am eating healthier, and that my body is probably healthier now than if I didn't have GD. Good luck with it :)

That's great! I can't wait to meet with my nutritionist and get on a plan that's right for me. Right now I'm just going off what I've researched on-line and what other friends with GD have done. Are you also on insulin? Or are you controlling with diet alone?

That's awesome! We didn't plan this little one far enough ahead of time. I'm already hitting my max in my spending account. I am able to increase it after the baby is born though. Way to get your research in early though!!

I signed up for the HSA about a week after I found out I was pregnant :) It was just good timing on the part of our benefits year

I'm doing my GD test on Monday morning. Kind of nervous because I eat a lot of fruit and have been craving carbs/sweets (COOKIES!!!) since getting pregnant. I'm terrible when it comes to cravings. I usually give in if it's in the house, but I still limit how much I have.

Aside from my pelvis issues that seem to be creeping up, my mid-back bothers me when sitting at work, and my lower back/upper butt cheek area has been super tight since about week 6 or 8. I know my doc said she's not a fan of chiro, but I'm going to mention it at my next appt anyway, especially because of my pelvis. I have a friend who just graduated from chiro school, going to ask his opinion so I can have some back-up info at my next appt.

Very exciting that your nursery is almost complete! So far we have the walls painted, the trim/doors are in progress, and we've ordered a crib. We're totally slacking! We're planning to have everything done by the beginning of October, just in case baby decides to arrive early. My niece was 4 weeks early and caught BIL/SIL totally off guard. They'd just finished painting the nursery the day before she was born!

I've been noticing patterns with my babe, too. It appears to enjoy driving to/from work, kicks like crazy if I lay on my right side when I go back to bed after getting up to pee (but not if I lay on my left!), and also plays shy when DH tries to feel kicks. I think it likes hanging out on the right side of my uterus, some times that side feels a little bigger/firmer, and the lower back/upper butt cheek tightness I mentioned in response to BeckyJill's post is on my right side.

Doing my glucose test today and I am nervous. Never had GD with any of my others. I was tested for it 3 times last pregnancy because I was so obese. This time I lost so much weight, but I am worried because I also have been gaining a lot of weight steadily. I really hope I pass. I just have so much going on right now and am struggling with so much...I don't want to add on one more thing.

Our house was robbed Tuesday night. I have been feeling pretty off and undone since then. I know its just stuff that we had stolen, but my two grandmother's had both given me family heirloom rings that meant SO much to me and they are gone. It makes me sick. To have lost those that have been in the family for generation after generation....they held so many memories. And they where both worth a lot of money. I just feel like sobbing.

And to top it off DH is having work troubles. We are so tight on money that I can't even buy groceries and we are down to a few veggies and some spaghetti. So now I am in panic mode. How to feed a family of 5 off of that? His work is a small business and the wife of the owner does the payroll. Well she got mad that the guys (there are 4 of them) worked so much overtime and decided she wasn't going to pay it! So we are out almost $500 till he gets it worked out with the owner! We NEED that money. Needless to say he is actively hunting for other employment.

And I am suffering bad from insomnia...get 2 maybe 3 hours of sleep at night. This is making me emotional and depressed. Talked to the OB about it yesterday and basically I can take Tylenol PM and that is is. But I really hate medicating while pregnant.

Sorry for the rant ladies...I am just feeling so violated, isolated, and depressed.
