We are finding out...our appointment's next Thursday, but we won't officially find out til our Pink and Blue Party next Friday evening (if baby cooperates, that is). I'm super excited, and more clueless about what this one is. With my daughter, I knew- but this one I've had both feelings- so will be interesting to know for sure! I just can't wait to start calling him/her by name:)0

We had our anatomy u/s this morning, followed by a visit to the doctor. U/S was great, neat to see the baby again. Tech said everything looked good and on schedule.
At my doctor's appointment I was up 14lbs (18w3d), but she didn't bring up my weight at all. Funny how the doctors are differing on weight. A few of you with less weight gain are being told to watch the calorie intake, but I remember reading a post a while back from someone who's midwife, like my doc, wasn't weight focused, either. My doc said she fully expects me to gain the whole 35lbs given my height/starting weight, maybe she'll say something later if I creep up too much.
On a non-weight related note, all of my test results are good. No red flags for any health issues for the baby. Also had a chat with my doc about tearing vs. episiotomies. *shudder* I know of two people who had worst-case scenario type of tearing, she reassured me that those stories are absolutely not the norm (one had a baby with an abnormally large and wide head, the other mother just had 3 terrible pregnancies/deliveries and a lot of bad luck by the sound of it!) Even with what she told me today, it will be on my mind until the baby is out!
Liann - we are not/did not find out the gender, either. I like the surprise! Even if we had wanted to, our baby wasn't cooperating at the u/s this morning. It was facing my back and had its legs in a way that there was no way to get a good peek.0 -
Js - I am 19w 1d and up 15lbs (or so haven't weighed in a few days) and my OB isn't too concerned either. He said his main concern is me getting enough exercise. He said if I exercise enough he doesn't care if I gain more than the 20lbs we discussed. I had to take a break from exercise due to uterine pain and cramps. But so far this week I have been on the elliptical 3 times! Hoping to do more tonight.
Glad to see someone else who doesn't find out lol. Most of my family hates it and most of his family loves it lol. I like the surprise too. Great motivator during labor!0 -
jls - I had my check-up yesterday at 18wks 5days and I'm up 14 pounds too Doctor said she preferred a 10 pound weight gain at 20 weeks so I'm trying to hold steady for awhile. Trying not to stress about it too much but I want to stay as healthy as possible during the pregnancy!0
-
It IS funny how the Drs are different- I've gained 9/10 thus far at 18 weeks 5 days. But with my daughter I gained 8 the first trimester and my Dr never said anything...I don't know which I prefer!:)0

Would anyone be willing to keep going with a weight loss/in-shape challenge post-delivery in October? I plan on breast feeding so won't be able to do any dieting but I definitely want to get back in awesome shape before my maternity leave ends!0

Not sure, I've done a couple of challenges on here but wanted to get a consensus on what people were thinking. I want to definitely do P90X (since it takes 90 days and that's how many I'll have at home!) and maybe even Couch to 5K as well. I love the idea of being able to run with a stroller in a 10K once the winter is over!0
-
I have no idea what P90X is lol0
-
It's a set of workout videos from Beach Body company - I got mine previously owned (they are EXPENSIVE brand new)
http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/p90x.do
http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml
Those are the two programs I'll be using post-pregnancy!
After I complete those two...I guess we'll see which one I'll go to next. My goal is to be in better shape at 32 with a baby then at 22 :bigsmile:0 -
I'm in for something after the baby's here. I was on a Jillian Michaels kick for a while so I have a bunch of her dvds. I will probably use those and mix in running/walking. I love th C25K program and will definitely incorporate that. If I could find p90x cheap, I would be in but there's no way that's in the budget brand new.0

Faughorn and others - I will be in for losing the baby weight after having my son. Would love the support of other mom's.
I will say this though. Be kind to your bodies in the first month or so after giving birth. Everyone is different but I didn't allow myself to heal or rest the way I should after my first son and it took its toll not only on my recovering but losing the weight. So I am taking the month after my sons birth OFF!! I will still track but no exercise. Just enjoying my new boy!
My plan is in month 2, if I am feeling ready, to start walking. My goal at 3 months PP, as long as the walking went well, I am going to start running, Zumba, and continue a nice walking routine. This is what I was doing before I got pregnant and it worked really well for me.
I will be breast feeding too so eating healthy and reminding myself to drink water!0 -
I know I'll be eager to lose the weight and get back into shape quickly, but I agree with dq1479. Good to get lots of rest and let your body heal for a bit getting before jumping back into exercise. My mom said she went for a short walk not long after I was born (about 1.5km/1mile total) and she said she barely made it home because she was so sore/tired (and I was a vaginal delivery, not a c-section). I'm also planning to take it easy for the first month, then probably start exericising again with walking and weights/dvds at home, then maybe start to try some short trips to the gym when my parents visit around xmas (unsure at the moment about the child-minding service at my gym, and I know when DH gets home from work in the evenings I'll likely be too pooped to go for a workout).
I'm also planning to breastfeed (hopefully my giant pregnancy boobs and coming from a family of successful breasfeeders will guarantee me success!), so food-wise I'll be trying to focus on healthy food and staying hydrated.0 -
dq and jls - good points! the primary goal is definitely going to be staying healthy! How about we all stay motivating post-baby but do a more gradual return to the exercise program? I think everyone will be different on what they feel comfortable with0
-
I'm all for keeping each other accountable/staying healthy post-baby. And like the others, I'm not going to rush it. With my daughter, I took the 6 weeks after her birth (that the doctor recommended) "off". I still would leisurely walk, and I didn't eat too horribly- but I wanted to just enjoy my maternity leave/time with my newborn. Eventually the weight did all come off- right in time for baby number 2:) But I'll for sure need accountablity to not go completely crazy when I'm enjoying my maternity leave!0

Awesome picture! I got a new pic at my u/s last week, but it didn't turn out very well. Boo!0 -

I ended up using my camera phone close-up and avoided a glare to get it. My mom needed a picture IMMEDIATELY lol0 -
Cutest pic ever!! Love it!0

Last night baby started kicking hard enough to feel it on the outside! I had two days of not feeling much movement from the baby, just the odd kick or roll, then all of a sudden when I went to bed last night, BAM! Good hard kicks! DH got to feel a few, too, which was awesome. Baby is kicking up a storm again now, probably thanks in part to the caffeinated coffee I had a little while ago. My cat is currently laying on my belly, wonder if he is noticing that he's being kicked?
Anyway, really wanted to share the news, but now I'm going back to my usual routine of avoiding the computer on the weekend. Unless of course DH decides he wants to watch soccer all evening. Euros are on and are being hosted in Poland, and of course being married to a Polish-born man means the next 30 days are going to be soccer, soccer, soccer. Plus we "coincidentally" just switched to satellite and had a PVR hooked up the other day! :ohwell:
Have a good weekend! :flowerforyou:0 -
jls- That's SO exciting!! I cannot wait to share that feeling with my husband. I love it!! I've been waiting for it but not yet. The moving and rolling is still by far the coolest feeling ever. I just sit and smile and enjoy my little dance machine0

Hey Ladies...how's everyone doing on weight gain lately?? I've had a jump this week- am now up 13ish pounds at almost 21 weeks. All the charts say I'm at the high end...just wondering if I should change my calorie intake? I'm still working out reguarly and I don't feel that heavy (especially compared to my last pregnancy), but I just want to see how I compare with others around my same due date. Thoughts/Advice?0

My DH got to feel baby kicking this week too for the first time! I'm still debating on whether or not to let my 2 yr old feel. I'm worried it might freak her out and really confuse her lol.
Jillise- You are doing great with your weight! I'm gonna make you feel better. I'm up around 17 to 19 lbs now at 21 weeks. I had another 3 lb gain this week like i've had before & just don't understand. Like you I am still counting calories & working out. I've only increased by 150 a day so the substantial weight gain really ticks me off! I was so ticked off this morning that I thought about just giving up counting calories since it obviously isn't making a difference. However my mom talked me out of it & reminded me that I'm going to need to count after he's born to lose the weight, so I might as well not get out of the habit, & it really is so easy. But wow I am sooooooooo mad!!! I feel like a cow. =( So see you have no need to worry.0 -
Kerrbear - So exciting that your DH got to feel some kicks! As for letting DD feel, I have no clue about that. My nephew was around 2 when SIL was pregnant with her 2nd (and now she's having a 3rd!) and he used to go around with a ball up his shirt, made everybody else stuff their shirts, and constantly asked to see peoples' bellies! No idea if they let him feel the kicks, though. When we were home last month we told our nephew about our baby (he's now 5) and he hugged my belly and told the baby he loved it.
Jillsie/Kerrbear - I was up 18lbs yesterday at 20w3d and was horrified, especially since I didn't gain the week before (so I was up 4lbs in one week!). However, when I got home from work I noticed my feet were a bit puffy and I had some serious sock indents around my calves, much worse than a normal day. Those lines looked reeeally nice with the capris I wore at the gym after work. Anyway, I was down 1lb this morning, however that was after breakfast. Pretty sure my breakfast plus super large glass of water easily added 1/2lb to this morning's weigh-in, so I've been telling myself I was down 1.5 this morning. I'll weigh again next week and see what happens.
I'm still tracking my calories during the week (I try to stay away from the computer on weekends), and on weekends when I'm not tracking I don't pig out, but I allow myself to have a "bad" meal or snack without guilt. I haven't increased my cals, I'm still eating maintenance and finding they are generally enough to keep me full. With the way my weight gain has been going I'm afraid to increase!0 -
I'm at 21 wks and 5 days and up 14-ish pounds. I'm showing at the higher end of the gain chart too but figure I'll be like my mom who did most of her gaining in the beginning and then slowed down towards the end. I'm not too worried, better to put on a little more then stress out about it or short change the kid (or me) of nutrients, etc.0
-
I'm up around 12 lbs so far. I'm 21 wks along. I would say I'm tracking my calories half the time. I always have a running total in my head but I rarely log it. I'm still pretty active working out- softball, walking/jogging and some weights. I had to slow myself down last week- my heart was racing and it felt so good! But I had to take a minute and remember it's not just me right now!!
I'm still feeling chubby- I wish my belly would round out. I still just look like my little (or not so little anymore!) pouch is growing. People who know I'm pregnant love it but if you don't know I'm pregnant- I still just look a little heavy. I've come to terms with it but am still looking forward to a more pronounced baby belly
Still no movement on the outside yet for me. Baby is quite active though! I'm going tomorrow for my ultrasound and am bouncing off the walls excited. We are finding out the sex and it's just so nice to hear the heartbeat and this time see my little one! Love it!0 -
BeckyJill - I LOVE the ultrasound appointments, I don't get another one until 30 weeks and that one should be my last one. I'm thinking of getting the 3D scan movie as well because I have a coupon for $100 off (so it would only end up being $75 total!) which makes it much more affordable. I just LOVE seeing him move around on the screen! Let us know whether you're having a lil' boy or a lil' girl if you can find out :happy:0

I'm officially Team Pink!! Little Girl R- I think we're going to start calling her Boo! She had her back to us almost the whole time and her legs crossed until the very end. She's either a shy girl or a stubborn girl like her mama- haha!
The u/s was so cool and the tech was amazing Great day today!
I did ask about feeling baby movements on the outside (so my husband can finally feel) and she said 28 weeks is pretty normal to start feeling the movements. It's possible to feel them sooner but no worrying until at least that point.
I'm up 13 lbs- and feeling great! I can't wait to start buying girl things!0
