    Anelda, Impressive gains in strength! I was doing high pulls instead of power cleans, but I may just stop doing those all together. I did New Rules before this one and I had great results. I, too, am not eating for muscle gain, so will see where I'll be in a month or so-that''s how much time I have right now for Starting Strength. Anyways, good luck to you!

    Keep trying the power cleans, deninevi! :) They're technically difficult but really fun once you get the hang of them. Maybe you could watch videos of Rippetoe teaching them. Doing that and following the step-by-step instructions in the book helped me. I'm finally upping my weight on power cleans and I'm finding that it makes them easier since I can't cheat using my arms to lift the bar. Good luck!

    I keep seeing recomendations for the New Rules book ... Thinking of swinging by Barnes and nobles for it, I am assuming its user friendly enough for someone who's never lifted weights to start with?
