Couple of things come to mind from everything you've said....
1. you could still be waiting to see some of the TOM water disappear.
2. you might (guess here but I know it's possible) be putting muscle on faster than losing fat which will result in inches gained and weight gained.
If either (or both) of the above are culprits, then the weight and inches will come off in time. (first one possibly faster than the second). If neither of these are the case, then you may still be in recovery mode and your body is just not quite ready to let the fat go. It may have initially and then panicked suddenly and put it back on again. 10 weeks is a long time to us, but it might not quite be long enough yet for your body to be ready to let it go?
If all of the above are not true, then are you sure your activity level is set right? I gained inches and pounds from too much exercise and not enough food yet. I had to slow it down a little to balance out....basically a 'tweak' to my new EM plan.
I wish I could definitively give you an answer, but I'm still working things out myself. These options are just ones that make sense to me.
BTW, the first time I lost weight after my first baby it took me 4 years to lose 50lbs. 3 months of nothing, then drop 5lbs. repeat. with stalls in the middle. And by the time I was done I was eating a lot of AIR for calories.... Weight loss is not the same for everyone, so even if it did take you 18 months to lose the first 22lbs (healthy way or not), you still lost it and that's awesome!0 -
Never, ever, ever, ever, ever, EVER measure the day after you hit the weights hard, lol. The same way the water will show on your scale, it will show on the tape.
I hear you beating yourself up over the last 10 days, yet you said that you felt good for the last 5 weeks. Don't let these 10 days still your spotlight.:flowerforyou: I carry TOM water for two weeks at least. The fact that I lift so heavy, and so often, I ALWAYS carry extra water. I honestly can't remember the last time the scale went down, but I'm down 2 pant sizes, so I assume something is changing.
How much were you eating before? For how long? Where you at a plateau when you started EM2WL? When was the last time you took a diet break? Did you ever do a metabolism reset, or did you jump right into TDEE -15%? Typically if you go past 6-8 wks at TDEE -15%, with no change, your body is BEGGING you for a metabolism reset, and has chosen to try to take one itself.
Most people don't understand that in order to make up for long periods of UNDER eating, OVER eating is necessary.

It is possible the inches are still from water gain.. I have today and tomorrow off as rest days, so Im hoping after that I will get a better idea of where I am at weight wise and inches wise..
I thought I was confident in my activity level.. 5 days a week exercise, 40-45 mins a day = 200 mins give or take, = about 3.5 hours.. which puts me in the moderate level. However I was doing closer to 5 hours before I gave up half of my cardio to begin weight training.
When I began eating more 10 weeks ago, I started at 235. I went up to 238 in the first week or so, then dropped a bit, then bounced for a few weeks before finally trending down for about 5 weeks. I hit a low of 232.8 Two Sundays ago, and since then the scale kept climbing back up, hitting a high of 238.2 this past Sunday. (AF ended) Since then, it has taken all week just to get 2 pounds of bloat off. ANd as you can imagine, no where near the 232.8 I was almost two weeks ago.
I began lifting on the 6th of May.. so three weeks.. So I suppose it is possible the muscle is starting to build and the fat isnt disappearing.
Im just at a complete loss. Im staring at ten weeks of "work" essentially showing no measurable results. Its honestly not fair. Ive been struggling at this for the past 18 months after my second child to get the scale going down again. I have been the model "weight loss" student, doing everything I was supposed to when I did weight watchers.. and nothing really happening.. I began running in January in hopes of seeing results, and a small weight loss happened, but zero inches.. then trying eating more and well... here I am, basically in the same spot I was when I began.
It is just so frustrating. I feel like a complete failure running around saying people should eat more and stop dieting when I cant even get it to work for me, You know?
When the hell am I going to be rewarded for this??
Sorry, horrible vent. Sigh, if you could actually see what I look like right now with snot and tears running down my face,.. It would be quite the sight..:)0 -
so you were at a plateau before EM2WL?
do you remember how many cals you were eating?
I do know how you feel...if you watch my metabolism reset, vid, I say about 8 times, how tired I was of dieting
I really mean that...I was exhausted...0 -

I was losing prior to EM2LW, about 10 pounds over 12 weeks, but that was after I began running and had increased my activity level up substantially from before. Food wise had not changed over the year or so prior to eating more. I was on Weight watchers, and when I inputted a few days from my WW tracker into here, back in March, I was about 1400-1500 cals.. so about 900-1000 less than I am eating now.
Believe me, I am beyond exhausted dieting.. But I am even more tired of being overweight. It just pains me that even though I have been eating very "clean" more or less for a year, exercising like I am supposed to be, and yet nothing is coming off, KWIM?
Its my pity party I guess.. "when the hell are things going to cooperate for me" is my mantra this week.... Sorry, huge whiner thread for me...:)
As I said earlier, I have two days rest here so hopefully that will give my body a bit of time to recoup from weights this week and running. O is apparently in the next two days as well, so hopefuly any water weight from that will also vanish.. Then maybe Ill get a more accurate read of where I am.0 -
So its been a few days since I last updated after my mental breakdown, so I thought I would fill you in for those that care. Feel free to read or ignore.
I had two days rest on Friday and Saturday, so I was hoping things would start to settle back down again. Saturday morning I weighed in and the scale dropped 2.2 pounds taking me down to 233.8.. one pound higher than it was when this rollercoaster started two weeks prior. So I still wasnt down to where I was, but at least some of the bloat was coming down. Sunday morning, after a second rest day, the scale went back up 235.6. Outside of being sedentary on Saturday due to a work conference, there was nothing in my diary to warrant another gain, no extra salt.. no high cals, drank my water.. but possibly being in a sitting position for most of the day didnt help..Yesterday was a lift day, so of course the scale this morning shows yet another gain.
So Im still no better off than I was earlier.
Even if I hadnt been scale watching daily, the numbers would still be showing the same on my "official" weigh in days. Im glad I have tracked daily, so I have seen the reasons why the scale fluctuates, and yes, I am going back to a weekly weigh in at the end of this month, so I am hoping that will help my mental struggle as well...
I am also beginning to wonder if I am actually at maintenance cals instead of a cut, since basically in 10 weeks I havent lost anything. The scale has been as low as 232.8 and as high as 238.. but I started at 235, and here I am 236.2?? Depending on whether I use just the scooby calculation, or whether I add in my BF% in it, the number im supposed to eat god down by 400.. Im just sort of at a point where I dont know what to do anymore... continue eating what I am... go up in cals or go down... I dont know how much more I can take of staying where I am and not seeing any tangible results.0 -
Hey, I haven't read every single post, but I wanted to tell you I was feeling like exactly the same as you just last week. I started NROL4W 4wks ago exactly and when I did, I recalculated my cals (I had already been eating more for about a month before that, and I had only restricted cals for about 4 days before I started eating more lol) but before I started NROL4W, I had lost 18lbs in about 4-5wks. Then I started lifting and went up a few lbs, as expected, for a little bit, then was down maybe a half a pound. The scooby calc and the one in the book put me at lower cals than the fat2fit calculator that I used before. So for about 2-3 wks, I was trying at that lower number (only by about 150 cals) then I got frustrated cause my measurements and weight stalled. So last week, I upped my cals back up to 2300, but 2500 on weight days, AND took a break from couch 2 5, so I was only working out for 45mins 3x/wk, and I finally dropped another 2lbs!
My point with this is maybe, maybe you should try to go up a little bit? And maybe try taking a break from everything besides NROL, or maybe even a break entirely, and see how that works! It didn't make sense to me that taking a complete cardio break, with the exception of my elliptical warmup, would help me finally lose, but it did. I figure I just needed a full break/rest between lifting sessions, and maybe that was why I wasn't losing?
I'm also at about the same stats as you, a little tiny less. When I started MFP about 8wks ago now, I was at 227, now my last "low" was 207, so I'd like to think I can relate to you a bit:) Feel free to check out my diary too! I also found that I definitely don't lose if I don't hit my protein. Tilapia is a great source of protein for not a huge amt of cals (20g for 100 cals)0
