Lots of great songs, still time to get your picks in for the first weekly "Hatters Walk to the Hits Parade!"

Snoozie, in reading your post about your frustration, I, and I think I speak for everyone here, understand the pain of frustration. We understand because we experience it. Taking an honest look at your diaries is the best way to reverse the trend. You are absolutely right that the best food is the least processed food, I know it but doing it is a continual struggle.
I really love the support and the tools that I get on MFP, but I think the calories for exercise feature is wrong on a number of levels. Unfortunately a reality of life is that our metabolism aint what it used to be, hon. The estimated calories are way too high for me. I use the exercise tracker to keep me motivated to move, but I do not consider the exercise calories available for me to eat. I think when I get to maintenance I might be able to use some of that info, but while I am in the losing phase, my body doesn't work that way. I am trying to remove all emotional relationships with food. I want to change my perception of food as a reward for exercise or for anything other than nutrition.
If you want to get the most caloric burn from your walk, the current fitness gurus say that intervals are the best. In other words walk at a good pace for about 6 minutes and then walk as fast as you can for about 90 seconds, then repeat the cycle several times. If I walk and just let my arms hang at my size, my fingers swell up with retained water. I use a walking stick as a reminder to keep my arms moving.0 -
HSH: I agree completely about the numbers for calories burned; it might be right for a 25 yr old lol... I have been a little confused since day 1 about the whole "eat the calories back" thing.. I know its not good to eat too little and go into ketosis (specially with my focus supposed to be also keeping low GI to keep my blood sugar levels consistent thru the day) but since I'm not burning thousands of calories like some of our peeps, I figure sticking close to the original 1200 is my best bet for a while. I don't mind if I go a little under or over it every day, but try to keep close to it. I also eat when I'm actually hungry, so I'm going to have to aim for smaller more frequent amounts as i think it will work a little better for me; I just have to try to make each "feeding" a balance meal nutritionally more often, instead of thinking of it as "meals and snacks".. make each one a small meal.. ("feeding" sounds kinda awful lol.. like I'm an animal.. perhaps "each fueling" would be a better choice
and yes.. I agree on the HIT theory (high interval training) - and in truth.. (sigh).. just walking aint gonna cut it alone. I am still hoping before bed I can post I FINALLY started the resistance band exercises..
Love the song choices.. and better yet.. love the fact a lot of em are oldies which means I actually KNOW them... lol
bedtime edit:
did my first resistance band exercises tonight... was only 15 min to go thru the first 8 I have to do... but I finally started em0 -
