Professions to stay away from or vice versa

I don't know about professions to avoid but, girls that work at Subway or Quiznos, that's marriage material there.0

Widows. I really hate to say that. But, I've dated two and ended up being hurt in the end. Both were great men that loved their wives dearly. Thought they were ready to move on. I dated one of them for 3 months before he just stopped talking with me abruptly. Never returned a call, never emailed. Just told me he didn't love me and that was that. The other, I went on one date with and the whole time he talked about and compared me to her the whole time....both had been widowed about a year. So...no widows.
Yeah, I agree. I avoid widows too. Seems to me that they'll never replace the love of their life. Although, I dont think that my logic is logical!!
What if he actually murdered his first wife? Seems like he'd be over her, almost by definition, and would hence be acceptable to date. Might be an insurance windfall as a bonus. Hello, honeymoon in Thailand!

LMAO!! Yes, absolutely safe to date. Just never fall asleep again.0 -
I agree with avoiding the military (dated a few that were not cheaters just emotionally distant, worked with a bunch that were cheaters), musicians (gets boring listening to the same thing over and over), men still in collage (don’t know where they are headed in life), pipe liners (haven’t dated any but worked up close and personal with their cheating *kitten*) & professors (agree with above description). But also avoid people that believe they are more intelligent than everyone else, or men that believe they are in some way entitled, avoid men that stand to inherit money.
Hey now! Pipe liners are friggin' sexier than hell....well, some of them. You'd better not be picking on me!
Agree with musicians... my ex was one. Never again.
Military, cops, emt, firefighters... any first responders....don't even go there!
But construction boys, linemen, welders, pipeliners yep, yep, yep....
I go for men that appreciate low-maintenance women.0 -

I guess I'm in the minority, I love military guys! I know that there are some ****ty dudes, just like everywhere else but I guess I know how to pick 'em. I've casually dated a few and we always ended things amicably and usually when they got stationed elsewhere and I wasn't willing to move.
Avoid musicians. They're broke and emotional and despite what they say, love don't pay the rent.0 -
Can I insert a plea for classical musicians? We're usually much less difficult/delusional (and more frequently-employed) than the other sort - I just don't think two together is a wise move! :laugh:0

Oh yeah my ex husband was a gifted musician... and a narcissist.
I shudder when Im around musicians now. (j/k.. Sorta)0 -
Stay away from drug dealers.0

Why the bad rap for military ??
And I have met some very nice strippers in my time...granted they were not very mature, responsible or sober, but lets not give them all a bad name!0 -
Stay away from Doctors. Working with them I can tell you that most of them have atleast 2-3 affairs going on..
Personally I love musicians and Military guys.
Almost every guy I've dated has been one or the other. I really have a thing for musicians though. Apperantly guitar players really do it for me lol:blushing: Mr NG plays guitar in 2 bands, My ex-husband was a singer for a while and my ex-bf was a bass player.
Probably cause I was a musician for years. But I just find them hot cant help it. Most of the musicians I know arent very emo or anything maybe cause I hang with rockers.0 -

Mine was advice that was given to me when I was about 18ish .. and that was about the younger military men. I think older military men are perfectly fine to date.0 -
Stay away from drug dealers.
Unless you do drugs .. or go to Lady Gaga concerts! :laugh:0 -

Don't know if i can vote in favor of this idea. The few symphonic male musicians I've known have been at least as complaint prone or difficult as some of the dummies in regular bands I dated when I was young. Maybe "manners and breeding" were different, but I'd say they'd all potentially be demanding and entitled as boyfriends/husbands.0 -
I'm surprised to see how many anti- musician people there are on here. I remember growing up, EVERY girl seemed to go for the guy who played the guitar or sang in a local band. It was the cool thing to do.0

Yeah, I'd say that's fun from 18-22, then you realize you'll get no where with that type of guy and you find someone with a bit more security...I think as women age they realize what's important in life - excitement or stability. The trick is finding someone with BOTH...0 -

I'd rather be perceived as the exciting guy than the stable guy if the choices were mutually exclusive. But I do agree that a guy should blend excitement with stability over the long haul.0 -

Have you not read Janie's posts?? Not exactly singing the praises of military guys and how they treat women!! :grumble:
But the main reason for me is that I wouldn't want to be with someone that was away more than he's home. I like a guy to be sharing in my daily/weekly life.0 -

This is funny most of the musicians I know work atleast one job along with their band stuff. They are extremely responsible having practice atleast once a week as well as shows. Most of them are really nice guys and very funny. Hmmmm I love musicians ... One of my boys whose band is currently on tour has been with his wife since 9th grade. I've known them since then and they are sooo cute. She is finally adjusting to him being on tour and he has been gone almost 3 months. She even flew up to see him play one of the show in Ohio. I do think that the young musicians (19-24) for the most part are less reliable but MOST 19-24 yr olds are (not all ).0 -

Ive read many of Janie's posts...and I dont disagree with all of them, but she is leaving out a huge part of the equation. Namely how and why some of the military guys think the way she portrays them.
Remember there are 3 sides to every story...he said, she said and the truth somewhere mixed in!0 -
Working with cops and correctional officers - I would say RUN as far away from them. Very few of them remain faithful, always sniffing out for "fresh meat". Where I work is really like Peyton Place - who is screwing who, etc0

I dated an opera singer. It was a nightmare. Everything was about her all the time.0 -

OMG yes. Every correction officer I work with has a significant other. But they all seem to be screwing someone at work too0 -

Oh dear! Sounds like you got one of the evil divas! They certainly do exist, but most of my colleagues are really very nice people. Can't speak for myself, obviously, but I think the nice ones outnumber the bad - sorry your experience was so bad.0 -

Yeah, I dated an opera singer while docked in Japan once. Trouble, Trouble, Trouble... After a steamy affair, I had to leave her for a hot blonde. Not sure what happened to her, though.

I'd also stay away from hookers. The last three I dated only stayed for an hour and took all my money when they left. I'm pretty sure they cheated on me too. Two of them were on the phone talking to another guy before they left.0

Sounds eerily familiar.. I think we might have dated the same hooker.0 -

Nobody had economists on the list of professions to stay away from!0
