Hi Michi -
I started Insanity this past Sunday (for the first time) so I am right there with you - hi!0 -
Welcome aboard.
I thought about doing something like this when I started out (18 days left), but I realized pretty soon that every diary entry was going to me pretty similar, "I pushed play, did some 1-2-3 Heismans, collapsed on the 3rd set of moving pushups, struggled on _____ jumps and ended the workout in a sweaty heap on my floor"
I'll definitely follow the diary, but whether you keep up with posting it or not, keep pushing play and dig deeper.0 -
Thank you! I would like to keep posting though

Congradualations! My results were... Okay, I guess.
I'm better than most guys at lifting weight ( will still be doing so during insanity) but i'm absolutely terrible at cardio.
THAT is why I wanted to challenge myself by doing insanity.

Hi Michele,
Welcome! Keep going don't give up! I will join you on Monday... I know it is hard, but you do not have to do it perfectly. I finished the first month but by the second, it seemed that I couldn't anymore...so I will try again as well... We can do it!!!0 -
Good luck to everyone doing Insanity. It's a GREAT program. Just make sure you "Push Play" everyday and you will get results. You may not see it on the scale or in the mirror in the very near future, but you will see it in the lesser amount of breaks you have to take and in your fit tests. I was in my second week before I could even get through the warm-up without taking a break. Month 2 is where the big changes start to show.0

Thanks for that Dale! I'm towards the end of week two and Im just starting to feel a little stronger. lol. I am able to get through a couple more reps of different exercises without falling out haha. Keep it up everyone!! :drinker: oh but this <<<< wont help you right now lol. follow the food plan too!0

ARGH. So very sorry! I haven't updated lately... Excuse me, excuse me. I was temporarily hospitalised because , they thought I had appendicitis, turned out to be just a Stumach inflammation... Well, still hurts, i'll have to change my diet... But I AM picking insanity up again tommorow... Not today, today I have to study. i am a medical student after all.
Cheers, michèle Mary
Xx ps. Thanks for all the supportive people here!0 -
Normally I'm not one for excuses for missing a workout, but I think being hospitalized counts as an acceptable one. Get yourself right and get back in it.0

So, is as just talking to my friend, who is currently doing turbo fire... And she commented that she always felt so tired and sick during her workouts... Thought that was strange, so. Asked her what her pre-workout is.
"what's a pre-workout?" SMH.
So well, anyway, after explaining to her that she needs to prepare for intensive workouts, I told her what I do. Figured you guys MIGHT find this interesting so... Here goes:
First: drink a small strong cup of ginseng coffe, with a little bit of sugar.
Second: add some sugar and a pinch of salt a glass of water, to drink during my workout.
Third: do some light jogging while collecting these items ( this is just for kicks really )
Fourth: eat an orange, apple or banana if I'm a little hungry
Fifth: Wait for the ginseng coffeeshop to set in, and for the food to settle.
AND THEN KILL IT!!!!!
Ps. I drink ginseng coffee just because it give all the benefits of cafeïne and none of the downsides. The fruit is for energy and fiber, while the sugar in the water is for extra energy, and the salt is for water retainement..
POST WORKOUT:
I usually either drink a protein shake with some fruit, or eat some scrambled eggs, depending on wether I ate eggs yet that day or not.
Cheers, hope this helps, Michèle Mary

2 things make that ok: I was on vacation back in the UK for the first time in 18 years hanging out with a British friend that I hadn't seen in all that time I was gone. And, it was a "light" beer.0 -
My wife is trying to get me to eat something prior to my morning workout also. I never do, but she's says you have nothing to burn if you work out first thing in the morning without fueling your body. I don't burn out during the routines, but she says I'll lose weight faster if I fuel prior to the workout. It makes sense.. I'll try it over the next couple weeks and see how it goes..0

Aha, well I just do it because I otherwise feel tired, however I do suffer from a healing fractured wrist and a stomach inflammation... And I have never been good at cardio, been that way since high school
However, working out on an empty stomach way have downsides... If your work out is really intense, ( for you) and you can't continue, you should eat something, if not... Then I don't know if that's REALLY necessary..

Okay, I did plyo AGAIN yesterday, just cause everybody says they feel sore the next day, and I didn't... Do feel sore today.
I'm such a masochist.

Hah.. Every time someone mentions the Plyo, all I hear is "IN!!! OUT!!! IN!!! OUT!!!!"
Kills me every time..0 -
Soooo true... *shivers*
I just did plyo again. And plan on doing it again tomorrow. What's wrong with me?
Okay, after tomorrow, I am going to follow the schedule... It's just that the plyo workout is my favorite workout of month 1 and I am still preparing myself (both mentally and physically) for pure cardio
Lol

Pure cardio is tough, Max cardio is tougher, but for some reason I always got bigger calorie burns on the "Plyo Cardio" and "Max interval" workouts. I think the 3 minutes on, 30 seconds off setup of those workouts works better for me than just going straight through with no breaks.0 -
Thanks for keep us informed.. I like hearing about other's success stories. And, the fact that you are keeping with it, is a success story..
I like all the Month 1 routines.. Unfortunately, because of a knee injury, I had to take Max Plyo out of the rotation in my workouts. Even modifying wasn't helping. Just way too much jumping in that to keep my knee together and I was hurt everytime I tried to do the routine. I still do the rest of the routines (including Month 1 Plyo) with modifications on some of the bigger jump moves, but no more Max Plyo for me.. I think Pure Cardio and Max Cardio are my favs..
When you graduate this, I HIGHLY recommend Les Mills Combat.. It is freaking awesome.. And because of Insanity, it isn't as brutal to me as it is on some of the other folks doing it..0 -

Well, that's unfortunate... But at least you still had all the other workouts! Will try les mills combat, have heard about it... But I'll try it
I have been doing the plyometrics for a few days just to prepare myself for all the other workout ( namely pure cardio) plan on doing the other workout this week... I really like plyo though... It's just that I'm a baby so I want to prepare my body for torture lol
