    I think she's pregnant...just my gut feeling.

I also think that as a reporter, dating one of her "sources" immensely discredits her.

Not necessarily so on the pregnancy Christine.

Female sports reporters have a history of having "relationships" with athletes.

Yeah, but at the end of the day, be honest...you look like a "puck bunny." I don't know what the football equivalent is.

We also have to keep in mind that Ponder isn't your average NFL player. Graduated college in 2.5 years, has a MBA. He is not your average NFL player who probably scraped by in school because he was focused on sports.

Here's a question to re-focus the discussion: Would any of you guys propose to a woman after knowing her approx 2-3 months? What about the ladies? Would you accept a proposal after only 2-3 months?
If I was truly deeply in love, I would accept the proposal but it would be a long engagement.................

I agree with Moe here... life's too short not to go for it if you really feel this is 'the one'.

I also agree with Christine that it isn't a great career move - especially for the woman - to date someone she most likely also interviews, etc.

This B*tch needs to go! She's f*cking up my team. He starts off on a roll leading the Vikings on a potential playoff run and then little miss sidelines comes along and he throws for 50 yards with two interceptions?? I don't think the question is will they last but will he make it out of Minnesota with his life (<--- this is not intended as a threat).

When I posted this question, I thought of you since I know you like the Vikings.

I don't think hot babes ruin a sports player.

I would absolutely not accept a proposal after 2-3 months. I think that being engaged is a serious thing and it's taken too lightly these days... Even if you get engaged, have a long engagement and have it end up not working out... A break up is one thing, calling off a wedding is another.

Every Viking fan I know (my parents to name a couple) want Ponder gone and his head on a stick!! Everyone was on the Ponder bandwagon at the beginning of the season. Kinda feel for the kid --his best WR is out, the others just plain suck. The Vikings didn't really make any changes to help the team. Rudolph has some promise. I hope he would be able to separate his love life and football and play. I didn't know he was engaged.

I think they will be OK with a short or long engagement. I don't know who she is and Ponder just isn't playing well enough to be that well known. He's close to being a nobody on the bench if he doesn't improve. I had to Google her. Never heard of her.

I'd say it was doomed if he pulled a Romo and was dating celebrities like Carrie Underwood and Jessica Simpson and on every freaking tabloid. Or a Miles and date a Kardashian (Austin hasn't played a whole season since). As fans we don't like it. We called all of them curses!! Romo's wife was flashed A LOT on the TV last Sunday night. She better hope he has a good game this week or she's next and she's not a nobody by any means. Her brother is the celebrity in the family though.

When my players were dating celebrities I knew about it whether I wanted to or not. I didn't read up on this stuff, but hell it's on CNN, and every person I knew would ask me something about who they were dating. And I really heard about it when they played bad! Even when my dog went to get his nuts chopped off (his name is Romo) they joked and said, is Jessica going to be OK with this? The VET said that!

I would possibly say yes after 2-3 months. The romantic, love at first sight side of me says sure, but the brainy, logical part of me says that's not long enough to know someone to say YES!! I have a friend that got engaged after only knowing the guy 2 WEEKS!! They are happily married and she is pregnant with their 4th kid. They met on a blind date and she went in flannel pants and no makeup. She said she wasn't feeling up to going, but didn't want to cancel. Not the attire I would choose for a first date. Ha!

A lady that knows football...Marry me?

And she's attractive. But you did notice, Carl, that she's a Cowboy fan, correct??? That seems to be the deal breaker. :-(

Can't blame her for them going down hill. They were dating when the season started and they won 5 games. Harvin being out for the last two games doesn't help but he needs to work on his passing. It doesn't help that he doesn't have any quality players to pass too. Also the D has gone to hell after the first 6 games as well. AP is a beast but cannot carry the team on his back. They do have a huge home field advantage with how loud the dome can get so let's see how todays game goes.

On the surface, there is no conflict of interest. Samantha Steele covers college football, Christian Ponder plays pro football.

In 2005, Derek Lowe was pitching for the Los Angeles Dodgers & was married. One of the Dodgers' broadcast partners was Fox Sports West. A woman named Carolyn Hughes was a reporter for Fox Sports West, and she covered the Dodgers. She was also married. Lowe and Hughes began an affair and when the affair was discovered, Hughes quit at FSN West. Lowe and Hughes are still together today.

Samantha Steele is not only blessed with good looks, but her job brings her a lot of money too. That brings lots of attention from men. And sideline reporter was mentioned in the thread "Professions to Avoid" in this group forum in a thread a while back.

    Thoughts?

    1) If I'm not mistaken, you are the one who mentioned sideline reporter in the previous thread. Are you really asking for validation?

    2) I really don't care to speculate if the marriages of close friends or family members will last. If it does, great for them. If not, I don't know anyone who got married thinking it was a transitory thing and who wasn't hurt by the break up.

    3) Jimmy Johnson ripped Christian Ponder on the pregame show today. He said something along the lines of maybe his new wife can teach how to throw a football.

    2. Nothing to add

    3. Samantha Steele throws a nice spiral. I missed FOX NFL Sunday today.

I accidentally hit two men today while watching the game at the bar. One was the waiter -- good thing he didn't have his hands full of food or drinks. I get a little bit excited especially during sacks, interceptions, and scores!! I love a good SACK!!

It goes beyond the NFL or even professional sports. Fans of the University of Illinois think the football team should be playing for the Big 10 Championship every year. The only reason they don't expect a National Championship contender is that they understand how tough the conference is and that you're likely to lose one or two games and knock yourself out of contention. The Illini basketball fans also don't understand why Bill Self left for Kansas. After all, Kansas is at best a lateral move.

When I was at A&M, there were a lot of fans that thought Steven McGee should have been a serious Heisman candidate. I don't even think he was the 4th best QB in the Big 12 but never mind that.

Edit: You forgot Bears fans too.

Well, the girl in me sighs and thinks how sweet and romantic is this! The divorced 40 year old snorts and says hell no they won't last. My ex husband and I got engaged 4 months after we met and we were together for 13 years, which is a lot longer than a lot of marriages out there that dated for years.

But, we aren't football players and reporters with access to rich and beautiful people every day for years and separated from our spouses for weeks at a time. For that reason I will say no, they won't. But good for them for giving it a try!

I know people who met, became engaged and married within 2-3 months, who are still blissfully happy 30-plus years later. I also know people who waited six, eight, ten years between first meeting and marriage who divorced after one year, ten years, 30 years. In short, how long/well you know each other before you marry isn't really what makes one match work and another not.

Would I accept a proposal after 2-3 months? From the right man, if my only doubt was the length of the relationship, yes. I'd be looking for at least a year's engagement, though.

I don't know who these people are, but good luck to them. It sounds like the external factors are not in their favour, but no-one on the outside can really say what their odds are as a couple.

If I was a women, I'd be VERY wary of a man who wants to settle down so quickly. Something just ain't right there. I would wonder why a man would want to get settled so quickly like that.

Maybe he lost a bet and his friends are making him get married so quickly (kidding!)

Football players don't get married in the middle of the season for any other reason. Add to that he is pretty religious (always posting scriptures on twitter) that I doubt he would go for a civil ceremony over a church wedding. But then some are saying that he is so religious that he wouldn't have sex before marriage (which I don't believe) that they hurried up the wedding because well the world is coming to an end on friday.

I agree that there is no other reason. Why would you rush a ceremony in the middle of the season like you said. Most girls want a ceremony of some kind...and considering that Samantha Steele is pretty gorgeous, I am sure that she would want to wear a wedding dress and have the ceremony.

She's totally pregnant...and I bet that Ponder wanted to be married before the baby came.
