Hello! Feel free to friend me if you have similar goals and/or interests. Right now I'm a graduate student studying fine art near Chicago. My concentration is Drawing, but my love of crocheting and sewing has taken over and I'm moving towards Fibers. During my breaks or when I'm really stressed out I love to make sock monkeys or crochet patterns. When I first started with MFP I was even writing my own patterns for crochet food. Hey, I figured if I can't eat it I can still make it. :)

I'm from the Midwest and just moved closer to Chicago. My favorite color is brown. I get teased a lot for it since no one else I know has brown as their favorite color. I'm a huge fan of graphic novels and animation of all sorts. I read a lot of comic memoirs and fantasy novels. I'm really big into indie comics, not really into super heros or any of that stuff. I studied Latin for five years in high school and college, and I'm trying to brush up on it enough to read Harry Potter in Latin. I think that'll be another goal for 2013 that doesn't involve weight.

Since I'm busy with school my workouts tend to be during breaks where I alternate Yoga/Pilates and jogging. During the school year I bike 3-5 miles a day, out of necessity as well.

My goal is to get down to a healthy BMI. I'd like to aim for the middle of healthy, but I wouldn't be disappointed with the higher end since I'm large boned (between 180-165). I'm 5'11", so if there are any other tall ladies that would like a friend feel free to add me.

    Best of luck everyone!

Hey everyone, nice to meet you all and add me if you wish.
I lost 78 pounds when I took up running and I ran a half marathon last september. Since then I seem to have put on 20 pounds. Ill take that off again since I did it once before but I figure a motivational challenge or game might be nice to do. So here I am. : )
I am looking to get back to my lowest weight of 195 by march and hopefully hit my final weight of 175-180 by summer.
Things dont always work like that ive found out over the last couple years, but if you dont have a goal then whats the point.

Good luck to everyone. I wish you all success!!

Hi all! I'm one of those people who will NOT be posting a picture. I'm just not there yet.

I'm starting at 265.6 and while I know I should, I do not have a defined goal yet for the deadline. I just want to see what I can accomplish!

    Love this idea!!

Hey all, I’m Gynelle, I'm 35yrs and I’m from the beautiful twin island nation of Trinidad and Tobago but currently live in Australia. I’m married to a darling guy and we are currently trying to have kiddies.

For most of my childhood, teen years I was thin like anything but the moment I left school and began slumming during the day (going to afternoon classes) and eating anything I can find in the fridge or cupboards (think jello puddings, chips and homebaked scones every day  ) I started piling on the weight bit by bit. It wasn’t until I hit my 30s and moved to Australia that I started developing a pouch along with a double chin so I started thinking that I really need to lose the weight. In 2011 I went from being 79kgs to about 65kgs but over 2012 I’ve gone up to 70kg where I seem to be most consistent. I have a bad habit where I exercise like crazy but then end up eating so much junk that I end up counteracting the good  . My goal for 2013 is to go back to 65kgs and if I can hit my final goal weight of 60kgs then I’d be extremely happy!

    On to my favourite things:
    Colours: blue and purple
    Place: Pigeon Point, Tobago
Food: lasagna or my daddy’s stewed oxtail
Tv: Big bang theory, Downton Abbey, 30 Rock, Modern Family, Revenge
Book: Harry Potter, romance novels, chick lit (Meg Cabot, Sophie Kinsella, Jane Costello etc)
    Game: Hard core Sims fan!!
    Exercise: zumba, spin class
Hobby: reading, writing my own novels (I just self published my first book and my husband and I are currently collaborating on a 2nd)

Quite happy to make new friends so please feel free to add me!!
  • Hi, everyone. My name is Nicole and I'm new here! My issues with food continue to get progressively worse but I'm going to try hard to tackle them with the help of MFP! I would love to lose 20 pounds by the end of the challenge but feel like 15 might be a more realistic goal for me. I'm from MA, my favorite color is pink, my favorite season is summer (I'm a teacher), and I have a few favorite foods, like pizza, birthday cake, and sushi!

I look forward to seeing everyone's progress and I'm hoping that, as well as advice from people who have found success, will help me get control over this aspect of my life.
  • Hello to all! Feel free to add me, as I need all the motivation I can get!

I'm a 27 year old RN currently living in Lexington, KY. My husband is a PhD student in English literature at UK. We tend to move around a lot with him in grad school. Since moving away from home (home is Michigan for us), I've gotten a bit lax about healthy eating habits and workout routines. I'm currently 157lbs and would LOVE to get back to my pre wedding weight of 128lbs. I'm also looking to get into cooking healthy. I work 3 days a week at the local hospital and I've gotten into a bad habit of picking up fast food on my way home from work, since the last thing I want to do when I get home is cook something. And on my days off, I just want to veg in front of the TV. Now for some crazy rambling..

I am crazy obsessed with anything Harry Potter related and have read the books more times than I can count. I'm a huge TV junkie and probably the worst invention for me was Netflix. I can spend hours upon hours in front of the TV watching Castle, The Big Bang Theory, and Parks and Recreation. Which is probably why I've put on the weight, lol. My favorite color is blue and am a huge reader. I love the beach and one of my favorite things to do is lay out on the beach with a book and my iPod.

Back to the gym. I don't follow any specific routine, but I do enjoy walking on the treadmill (I am attempting Couch to 5K for the second time, as I abhor running, but need to get back into shape), elliptical, and whatever the "rowing machine" is called, lol. But I have found my gym love in Zumba. Lucky for me, my gym offers it 9x a week. Here's to a new year and a healthier me!

Good luck in the challenge everyone!

    Hi Everyone! :flowerforyou:

I live on the Beautiful Amelia Island in Florida. I have the most amazing 15 year old (almost 16 y/o) son who is my special gift from God! Not married.

In December 2011 I was 284 lbs. In January 2012 I decided to give up my much beloved addiction of diet coke! :brokenheart: I don't even miss it now!!!! :drinker: After a couple months I lost about 20 pounds. Shortly thereafter began my determination to continue to improve my health. I do have other health issues (high blood pressure, kidney issues, & others). Those two listed are directly related to being overweight ~ for me anyway. I want to continue to get to a healthy weight for me. I no longer want to take bp meds.

A great side affect of losing 88 pounds to date (195.9) is all the compliments I've been receiving. I just can't get enough of them! Although I still feel HUGE and still know that I have a llloooooonnnngggg way to go! However, it's a huge confidence booster!

I'm excited to see where this challenge will bring all of us. Unfortunately, the first week, I've gained 1.3 pounds! UGH!!! :explode: oh well, it'll come off.

    Good luck everyone! :drinker:

HI, Im Meghan- I live in Florida.

By the end of 2013. I Would like to lose 60 lbs.

I have 2 kids- one Adult and one teenager. I am married and also a grandmother.
  • My name is Sharon and I'm from Missouri. I joined MFP back in August and did nothing with it, so I actually "started" MFP in January 2013 in a serious effort to lose 55 pounds +/- a few pounds long before our second cruise in November.

By the end of this challenge I want to lose at least 15 pounds, but 20 would be even nicer!!

I am married with two grown daughters, one grown step-son and 6 grandkids. I work part-time for the local police department as their evidence officer. I help take care of two of my grandkids part of the time while their mom is in nursing school & their dad works two jobs. For Christmas I got a nice keyboard so I can start playing piano again - something I have wanted to do for a long time. I have an in-home gym and so my plans is to use it at least 30 minutes 5 days a week, as well as keeping my calories right at 1400 a day.

I love spring & fall weather! I LOVE cruising. If I could live anywhere I wanted, it would definitely be on a beach somewhere tropical!
  • I would like to lose 10lbs during this challenge.

I am originally from upstate ny.
    My favorite color is green.
    My favorite season is fall.
My favorite tv show currently is mad men.
My favorite book is the giver.
My favorite hobby is anything outdoors.
I would go to the Azores if I could go anywhere. I have traveled quite a bit and this is just an obscure place I would like to go to.
I like the elliptical and swimming. About to start lifting and 30 day shred.

I lost a little over 40 lbs last year and hope to lose another 40+ this year. I have been overweight/obese for as long as i can remember. This year I would like to do a few more fun runs and start biking. Always down for new friends and motivation. Feel free to add me.

My name is Patricia. I live in Toronto, Canada... 5'7, 150lbs. I was down to 145 before Christmas, but gained it all up with chocolates and other yummy and unhealthy stuff. 38 years old, moderately active. I love the gym but I cannot go every day. I also love perfumes, and collect them... not that this has anything to do with weight loss....
I would love to reach 130 lbs in 10 weeks, although I am aware it is going to be very difficult.
Hopefully I won't fall off the wagon again, like I did with Christmas.
I have a daughter and often times I end up eating whatever she leaves on her plate... grew up with the mentality that there are dying children in Africa with no food... I just cannot throw food away.
I will try to keep the house without much junk around, so hopefully we will only eat healthy stuff.
Due to my religion ( Christian orthodox) , I usually fast ( eat vegan ) at least 2 times a week, Wed. and Fri. But I find that even those days, when I eat very healthy ( only veggies and fruits), I still eat too many calories!
Portion control is the hardest thing for me....
If you would like to add me as a friend, I would be delighted to have more friends... I am relatively new on this site, I joined just before holidays.
Good luck to you and good luck to me too :)
I don't know how to add a photo... maybe later....

    Where are you from?

Hey everyone! I'm 28 from St. Louis. I've been married for 10 months now and we are doing this fitness thing together!

What is your favorite color, season, food, television series, books, and hobby?

My favorite colors are purple and red. My favorite seasons are Spring and Fall- I hate being too hot or cold. I grew up in New Mexico, so I'll eat anything with green chilé. My favorite tv shows are One Tree Hill and Dawson's Creek (thank god for Netflix). I don't read much but need to get back into it! I love arts and crafts, so creativity is my hobby! Right now I don't have much time for that as I am working towards my teaching certification.

Where would you visit if you could visit any place in the world!!?? -- and why?
I would first visit Ireland and the Phillipines. This is where my ancestors are from. (I'm the whitest Filipino you'll ever meet lol.) I'd also like to visit Spain (also Spanish) and Italy and France.

What are your favorite workout routines?

I love Zumba (I can't dance to save my life but I certainly try!), the elliptical, and also the c25k program. I never made it past week 2, but I was a running fool within those two weeks. I got sick and then never went back. But I know it works and I am going to try it again once I lose a bit more weight.

I'm super excited about this challenge and I am so thankful for the advancement in technology and the Internet that provides me with tools like MFP to help me with the life journey.

    Good luck everyone !

Hey there everyone! My name is Amber and I am 21 years old. I live in Roseville, Michigan which is about four miles above Detroit. I joined MFP about a year ago, but I really got into it last March when i did my first challenge. I love these challenges and they keep me so super motivated! I've lost about 56 pounds so far and I can't wait to lose more!!

My favorite color is purple, blue, & pink. In that exact order. Purple will forever be my favorite! My favorite season is the fall because where I live, winter is blistery cold and the summer is crazy hot!! I love the happy medium between both seasons and that is definitely fall! The spring is too jumpy it goes from cold to hot to warm. My favorite food is anything mexican. I can overeat on mexican food like crazy! I try to avoid those foods because I know I'll binge on it. I don't really have a set favorite tv show since I don't really watch much tv... But when I do, I love The Biggest Loser, Family Guy, South Of Nowhere, The Hills, George Lopez, Full House, or anything else that sounds good to watch! My favorite books would have to be Blue Is For Nightmares series. It's so addicting to read and it keeps me on suspense! My favorite hobby is anything that's fun and keeps me moving!

If I could visit anywhere in the world, I'd definitely visit England. I've always had a soft spot for it ever since I was little and I adore the accents there and I just want to see if what I dream about is true.

My favorite workout routines are definitely the Jillian Michaels DVDs. They kick my butt and I love the workouts she creates. They are challenging and just amazing!!

Feel free to add me guys!! I'll keep you guys motivated as I hope the same in return!

    Good Luck Everyone!! (:

I am trying to lose from 212 to 135lbs, and get fit and toned all over. It is a work in progress, but i know i have a daughter that needs me, and needs me to be healthy so that i can be a great role model for her.

My favorite color is JADE, and i am a premed student for the next few years until i get my second degree. I have an associates degree in culinary arts from Le Cordon Bleu.

I love being outdoors, dancing, and singing.

    Hello everyone,

I'm Dawn. I am 45 (will be 46 right before this challenge ends). I hope to lose 20 lbs on this challenge. But I might stop sooner, depending on what my body looks like - 10 lbs and lots of toning might be OK.

I'm from a south suburb of Chicago. I don't really have a favorite color. My favorite season is fall. My guilty pleasure is watching tv - I'd love to say I'm too smart for TV, but it's how I chill out. I like 30 Rock, Don't Trust the B, Suburgatory - just fun mindless sitcom stuff. And (don't tell anyone because I'll deny it) I'm totally addicted to Dance Moms. I love to read. When I'm not working my day job, I teach theatre to kids and teens and direct kids plays at night. I also love writing and photography. I'm also involved in dog rescue.

My favorite place in the world is Colorado, but my dream vacation is to Alaska to whale watch.

My favorite workout routines - well that's a tough one, because I don't love exercising. But I've had great results with my elliptical and as much as I hate Jillian, the 30 day shred really did give me some noticeable changes, so I'll probably go back to that during the challenge. Last time I quit after 10 days because my weight loss stalled, but I think it was because I was building muscle. I love swimming, but don't have access to a pool and it's too cold here to swim outdoors most of the year. I want to try weighted hula hoops - it just seems like a fun thing to do.
  • Hey, I'm Lisa. I'm 44 and I'm from Alabama. ( Can I get a big ROLL TIDE for the championship game tonight??)
My favorite color is turqoise blue! Love it!
Well, I actually like Fall/Winter. Will likely enjoy Spring/Summer more when the weight starts dropping off.
I'm in love with Hummus!! I actually really enjoy healthy foods....but I'm an emotional eater and that always leads me to pizza, fries, burgers, etc... But hey, I'm getting a grip on this "eating my feelings" thing. It' will be a thing of the past.
The Big Bang Theory is without a doubt my favorite show. I enjoy watching The Biggest Loser, Impractical Jokers and Revenge too. And i have to admit....i do watch the Kardashian reality shows. There I said it....
I love to read. However, I don't read as many fiction books as I once did. Now, it's mostly nutrition, diet, clean eating, etc. Anything that motivates me. The last couple of years I have been on business trips to places that I would LOVE to return to. I fell in love with Los Angeles, Venice Beach, that whole area. California is just Fabulous! Can't wait to go back. Also, Boston. Oh how i loved Boston. Ultimately, I would love to see Alaska. Also, Fiji maybe?
Workout routines? Well. That's my problem. I sit at a desk all day for my job. I also have a second job/part-time... I pretty much do a lot of sitting for that one too. Needless to say I'm very tired when I get home. Always struggled with this part. However, I've decided my lunch hour will be my gym time. The gym is just 5 minutes from work. No excuses, right?
    Not anymore.

Fellow MFP member "300poundsdown" journey and weight loss has inspired me tremendously!! Can so relate to the demons she faced, the emotional eating, etc. So I tell myself, I CAN do this. I CAN lose 60 pounds. What's stopping me??

    Hello!

I'm Cameron. . I'm originally from Merritt Island, Florida. I've moved all around the state but have now settled in Melbourne. In 2011 I went from 230 lbs to 185. . Unfortunately it wasn't through sheer force of will, but a result of the ever-popular "Divorce Diet". .

This was very effective diet. But, like the tapeworm diet, I wouldn't recommend it. .

Anyway. . I've since crept back up to 225 and miss my slim sexy figure. I also miss being comfortable and being able to put on my shoes without grunting. . I think this challenge will really help keep me focused on my goals and working hard to achieve them. I need all the motivation I can get!

More about me: I'm the primary parent of an amazing 6 year old and we have fun everyday. He really keeps me on my toes and I'm blown away every time I observe how much energy grilled-cheese sandwiches and popsickles can provide!. . Still. .watching him is motivating because getting up off the floor after building legos for half-an-hour isn't a multi-step process filled with agonizing pain and numb extremeties. I WANT THAT FREEDOM!. .

My biggest problem is my career as a software developer. It's a desk-job. . I get very little exercise at work except when I wander aimlessly around the office building trying to look busy, but really just trying to kill time. . I wish someone would come up with a good way to do cardio while driving. I have an hour commute that's killing me!
