Chilly here today and they say snow down to 1000ft tonight. That does not happen too often here. So all indoor exercises for me this morning. Later this evening we will go to our local favorite Indian Casino and try our luck. I think I might have to have the pear chicken salad they have there, it is so good.

Hope you all are getting movement of some type in and drinking those liquids!

I tried making these gluten free pancakes this morning that are really easy. 1 medium banana (mashed), 1 large egg, 1 tablspoon ground flaxseed, and 1 teaspoon baking powder. It would have been really good if I hadn't burned them. I've never been very good at making pancakes. Hubby said he'd watch next time to help me prevent burning them. I'll learn because they are so easy and so goood.:))))

I'm in the office -- still working -- would love to retire! Although this afternoon, I'll play hooky to go to my book group. The weather isn't too bad, no snow this week, so it's pretty easy to put on my new brogan-sized sneakers and push up the heart rate on my usual 2-mile walk circuit. Wish we had a bit of sun though.

Gramanana, I wrote this down (recipe) for the pancakes. I will try them for my supper! Mmmmm.
I'm at the shop this am, my daughter got info on the Zumba classes local....I just might join her for a few to see if that is a possible for me.

I do want to ice skate this year too. something I've always wanted to try. I will get my kids to go with me....it should make us all laugh! I remember when they were little taking them roller skating....falling on my tail bone....Ah! The pain and misery for months. and the time I got pitched off my horse....again...pain for months! But, hey No broken bones in all these 62 years so I must have this cushioning for good reason!

Enjoy your day! make plans, seek the adventurous road and live with no regrets. Don't let the devil steal your joy!

I just got through 20 minutes of the cardio dancing DVD that I got at the library and it really got my heart and asthma going (LOL). I really enjoyed it though.

Mrsmartin61: My husband wants to get ice skates this year so we can skate on the pound behind our house. I'm a skeptical of that idea since neither one of us has ice skated in 25 years, at least! And I was never very good to start with. I used to be a pretty good roller skater, but there are no roller skating rinks around here. Since I go along with my husband on most of his ideas, if he gets skates, so will I. (LOL)

Spent all day working in the backyard moving dirt and rocks. Had to do it today as bad weather is forecasted over the next four days and I have out-of-town visitors coming for the week on Monday. Thanks to the weight loss and exercise over the last few months, I was able to do the job myself instead of having to hirer it done. That is a huge NSV for me. I'm already thinking of which DIY project to take on after my guest leave!

    Good Morning everyone,

I'm starting to think that the 2 DVDs I got from the library may be too much for me (LOL). I can only get through a few minutes of each of them, even when I do them separately. I'll keep at it though, since I have them for another 2 weeks at least.

When I walked on the treadmill this morning, I opened the curtains in the basement and watched the birds going absolutely crazy. The weather is unseasonably warm today, but is going to drop on Sunday. I'm going to have to get out there to refill the feeder and put up the suet tomorrow.

Today we are going to me my son for dinner and my husband will go to his club meeting while my son and I hang out at the bookstore. It's great fun and I'm really looking forward to it. Trying to save my calories for the mocha coffee I'll get at the bookstore.

    Have a great day everybody!

Regarding exercise DVD's. I have the first exercise DVD that Weight Watchers put out and I love it. It is actually a circuit workout that includes both aerobic movements and strength training with light weights! It does not hurt my back(almost everything hurts my back) and since I broke both ankles a few years ago it does not bother them either. There is no jumping or pounding ! It might be worth it to look into getting this video! I love it!!!

@ bjcl: Welcome to the message board. WTG with logging  Logging both food and exercise daily is the only thing that works for me.

@ Gramanana: Lucky you to have such a wonderful view from your treadmill. I have a hummingbird feeder outside my computer window; birds are so much fun to watch. WTG by saving calories for a treat later in the day.

Today's workout will be putting the yard tools away and moving the furniture and plants back into place in the backyard. Phx did get the wind and rain as forecasted last night so good thing all the dirt was back where it belonged. I'm not too sore today thanks to the exercising I've been doing over the last few months -- another NSV for me.

    Make it a great day!

I'll have to look for those DVDs. I have a power walking DVD by Leslie Sansone that I really love, but I'm always looking for something new to charge me up again. Thanks for the tip.

@Wooken3: I really love our view because we look out on a pond and a wooded area. It's really lovely. BTW, I love your cartoons and the pictures you post to explain our challenges. I don't know how you do it, but it's great!

I have three days before my house guests arrive and still have the inside of the house to shovel out. :grumble: You would think with being retired that the house would be company ready all the time -- WRONG!! The only problem with being retired -- outside of cash flow -- is time management. I've gotten into the attitude of, "I can do that tomorrow" and of course tomorrow never comes. So the next three days will be spent slugging my way through the mess and then hosing everything down. At least I'll be burning calories!

Moral of this story...invite house guests more often!

    Have a great Saturday everyone!

Wooken3: Time management? What's that? I do know that tomorrow never comes unless I psych myself up for it the night before--and that doesn't always work (LOL). I'm retired, too and have the same challenges--cash flow and time management. You'll get it all done, then enjoy your company.

Friday night at the er and hospital. It was 6:30pm when hubby started feeling bad! High blood pressure. second night here, lots of heart tests, etc today. We live 40 miles from town, so I just stayed...camped in his room on a cot! Tried to eat well today, until sister in law brought me supper. a Kentucky chicken pot pie. A first time to eat one, it was delicious, but way over in fat and tons of sodium! A meal I won't be repeating!

Hope we can go home tomorrow....

Oh no Mrs. I hope he is ok and you will go home tomorrow. How yucky for you to have to sleep on a cot there. Now I have to say that pot pie sounds Delicious. Yum. Have a safe trip home tomorrow if you get to go.

Well, winter finally got here to Illinois--verrrrrrry cold and a little snow and ice on the ground. I'll need to be careful when I go out to feed the birds. Have a wonderful day everyone.
