Hi, I'm Cesar. I live 1 hr west of Seattle. For those that are Twilight fans, I am about 2 hrs south of Forks, WA. No, never been there nor do I plan to. I was born in Los Angeles, CA and moved to WA around the age of 6 and been here since. I speak Spanish and through out high school I stood out a bit for 2 reasons. 1) I was big and tall, 6'3 around 300 lbs. 2) I was 1 of 3 total Hispanic kids in a class of about 700. I wasn't popular, but I was known by everyone. Even people I didn't know, knew me. :indifferent: I like sports but mostly just watching them. I wasn't really athletic so I never did sign up for anything though I was constantly told I should try out for football because of my size.

I went to college for a couple of years. I was floating about and didn't know really what I wanted to do at the time. One Summer, I found out that they were looking for some young folks to do IT work at the Naval base I currently work at. It translated over time to a full time job. Being the geek/nerd I am I do enjoy my job working with computers.

There was this girl I dated her for a couple of years in high school. Though we didn't work out, we remained, and still do to this day as friends. Around my early 20's one year I went on a hike with her. I was still around 300 lbs. but I was not in any physical shape to be doing this. I was of course at the time, still into her, so I agreed to go on this hike. I fell off the edge of a cliff, dropped about 20 feet on to my back. Rocks and tree roots broke my fall. I messed up my back pretty badly and even broke a tiny, thumbnail sized piece of my spine off. Doctor says the x-rays show it's still there, floating around, one day likely piercing a vital organ, I'll bleed internally, then die. Just kidding about the dying part though there is a tiny piece floating about. >.>

I recovered after a few months from the fall but my back was still messed up. I avoided stairs and most physical activity since it all hurt. I sat on my butt playing computers games all day when I wasn't at work or sleeping, and ate fast food with soda pop almost everyday. This happened for a few years and finally decided to see a doctor about it when I couldn't stay awake at work during the day. Found out I had diabetes type II, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and was nearly 500 lbs. That was the biggest shock. My height really made everyone believe, including myself, that I was at the most 350-375 lbs. On top of that I found out both my ankles were broken.:frown: My doctor figures that has been that way for the years and the diabetes I had at the time was masking the pain. I quit soda pop cold turkey, cleaned up my diet and became more active. The best part was when I lost a little over 100 lbs. I improved enough that my doctor took me off all the meds I was taking and I reversed the diabetes I had. I'm pretty active nowadays. Doing cardio and weights 4-5x a week. I still avoid soda pop. I don't crave or miss it so what's the point. My mindset with the whole thing isn't the number on the scale, but getting and staying healthy.

I'm pretty laid back, like my father. I am into the geeky and nerdy culture. Watching sci-fi, reading comic books etc etc. I also still enjoy playing computer/video games but I don't do it as nearly as much as I used to. I average between 2-3 hrs a week now. I'm a bit shy as well. Takes a while for me get out of my shell. Doesn't help when it comes to dating, obviously. I miss a lot of the subtle signs the opposite sex throws my way but all my friends say are there, clear as daylight.
  • I just celebrated the tenth anniversary of my 29th birthday.

This is how I am going to start celebrating my birthdays from now on!

Hi, my name is Victoria. Vicky or Bee are how I people call me...
I am a law student, not because it is my passion but because I need something to support me when I get older.
I spent most of my twenties travelling and figuring out what I wanted out of life, now I know... ha!

I grew up with 3 brothers, so I know how to throw a good punch.

I love all animals, small or big... Often bring strays home, get them healthy and find good homes for them. I own a boxer/mastiff mix (who weights almost as much as I do!) and absolutely love her. She is mean to strangers but the sweetest thing to me and my family... and she loves my nieces and nephews!

I am a football fan (but not the American kind of football...)

    I love music. Specially rocknroll...

I have had the most odd jobs... from office work, to farm work (carrots, onions and spuds), to cleaning tour buses... A petting farm (caring for everything from guinea pigs to crazy full grown pigs)... bartender, backpacker's night manager... cook... highschool teacher... pfff...

I had one perfect relationship about 4 years ago. The kind that makes you feel free... but we had to part ways. Now I know what I am looking for in a relationship, freedom. And I don't mean the kind of freedom where you "see" other people; I mean the kind of freedom where you can be yourself around the other person and you know you'll never be judged or criticized. The kind that is hard to find.
I had a boyfriend for two years and recently broke up with him... so now I am just taking it easy...

I love summer and flip flops...

    :flowerforyou:

My first question is what do you want out of life? How did traveling help you determine this?

Second question is.. what does it mean to "find yourself"?

I know you didn't use those exact words, but you remind me of my little sister who lived in Germany and taught in South Korea for years. She would always say she needs to "find herself". Though she would never elaborate on it..

I never needed to travel during during adulthood to find myself. Of course, there were some logistical issues with that.

I'm not sure finding yourself needs to be a conscious exercise. Perhaps it occurs naturally as we discover our own likes and dislikes.

When I was 21 I thought I had everything figured out. I was studying agriculture and was about to get married to this guy who wanted the same thing I did. One day, he broke off the engagement and I was left in this giant back hole. Did I really want the things I though I wanted or did I wanted them just because he did? So, I sort of lost myself... I quit school, I got depressed (meds, therapy... the whole 9 yards)...
My friends and family started letting me get away with anything in order to see me happy. So I needed to get out of my comfort zone in order to figure out who I was (other than a spoiled brat who needed Prozac and vodka to feel good), what I wanted and how much of me I needed to get it.

So I left home, by myself, without a plan and with almost no money. I figured out I am quite a strong person, I have great moral values and people actually liked me... no prozac needed.

Getting to know myself was actually a concious exercise, but I needed to be away from everyone who was protecting me from myself. Turns out, I don't need protecting from my own self... because I am badass and I rock! :smooched:

Mike, maybe your sister needed to get out of her comfort zone as well?

Edit: Out of life I want: Happiness. I want to be happy with who i am and not want more just for the sake of it. I want to be able to be myself and love who ever I become - because of all the experiences that made me who I am today. It might sound cliché, but it is the truth.
Oh, and some kids, some dogs, some cats... an if possible, a husband who is in it for the long run.... ha

Vicky, I just had a real trippy moment. I thought I was looking at a photograph of myself when I saw your main pic O__O

I wanted to be a lawyer until I turned 18, had a life crisis and found out I really wanted to work with animals.

    Are you my doppleganger?

I'm Angela, though some people call me Angie. I'm 35, to be 36 in April (on the 23rd .. same day as Shakespeare and Shirley Temple Black). I grew up in New Jersey and my family is still from there, though I've also lived in Chicago/Milwaukee as I dated someone for five years out there and made the (rather stupid) decision to go to Grad school out there. Live and learn, right? Now, I hold residence in Pennsylvania, moving out here after a very horrible break-up and accident about 7 years ago.

I come from a small family of four - my mom, dad and my sister 10 1/2 yrs my junior. I am a lover of the animals (I have two dogs, chihuahuas, that I rescued and three birds) and wanted to be a vet growing up, however I am a carnavore so I am not a PETA person (won't wear real fur though) and can't do the whole euthanasia/blood/guts thing (weak stomach). In college, I studied Theater and Theater Education (have a BA and an MA in it and several equity credits from performing in professional theaters), yet, after teaching for several years and being attacked by a student, I gave it up to persue other options. My boyfriend at the time had been dealing with a horrible divorce and found out a year and several months into our relationship that he was screwing the secretary at his job (typical) so wanted to make a new start and moved to Pennsy.

Fun facts about me (other than the juicy stuff up there)... I used to be the anthem singer for the Trenton Thunder and knew a lot of the Red Sox players. I'm personal friends with the members of the Dixie Chicks and know them through doing some professional photography early on in college for different production companies that would air segments on CMT, VH1 and GAC. Don't do much photography any longer as it got to be super expensive and had to sell one of my lenses in order to move out here. I'm a music buff and my span of interests ranges between anything classical (really love Debussy) to some hair bands like Bon Jovi, with a love of independent singer/songwriters. I don't do the bar/club scene, but love to go to a music venue to catch a great act live. Totally digging on the Lumineers right now - last year it was the Civil Wars. I studied music extensively in school and had that as my minor. I've sung classical, opera, broadway and the like and used to sing in a wedding band.

I enjoy traveling but, that, like any hobby gets expensive. I've been abroad twice to England and Scotland, with plans to go to Ireland. Really enjoyed Bermuda and Hawa'ii as well and would love to find a race to run there. I'm big into running and started last year after being told by my rheumatologist that I shouldn't. Ha, I'm stubborn that way. I was diagnosed with arthritis so it was "walk, don't run." I run anyways. I like how it makes me feel -- free (wish the sneaks I run in were!!). So now I'm traveling via running races in different spots every year. Last year it was Florida, this year California, DC and hopefully Providence, RI. We'll see what the year has planned...

I have a very small group of friends and open up/trust very few. Prefer it that way - works for me. But to those friends (and family), I'm the kind of person who'll give you the shirt off my back and put my heart on my sleeve, so it's easily broken. I take bullets for friends, I try to play mediator at times and try to see things from every angle. My one girlfriend swears I should've been a lawyer. If only...

I feel like I live the Groundhog movie everyday of my life lately though.. get up, go to work, workout, work some more, go home, fall asleep before making dinner, get nothing done around the house, go to bed... get up, go to work.. etc etc etc. Need to get some fun stuff going!!

I’m Eileen and it’s been a while since I posted in here, but I do like to read - always entertaining! :) I’m 39 and from Long Island, but now living in Brooklyn. I like lists…
    - I’m the youngest of 5 girls. Every time I say that to someone I’ve just met, there’s that awkward moment when they inevitably ask “Five girls, how did your Dad handle that?!” Me: “Um, he had a heart attack and died when he was 39. So, yeah, anyway…” lol
    - I had dreams that I would clearly remember all throughout my life about seeing planes crash. I’ve never dreamt I was in a crash and it didn’t make me afraid to fly. On 9-11-01, I looked out of my window 6 blocks from the WTC and saw everything. After the post-traumatic nightmares stopped, I never had another plane crash dream.
    - I work in investment banking in one of the “big boys” but all I really wanted to do was hair and makeup. My guidance counselor in high school pushed me away from that because I was “too smart to waste my brain”. Big regret – I still prefer hair color & lip gloss v. tracking EBITDA.
    - I am a dork for karaoke night. Love it shamelessly.
    - I’m a hockey nut! I’ve been to Islanders away games in 14 cities, and am working on adding to that. Everywhere is nicer than the Nassau Coliseum. Everywhere.
    - I travel a decent amount, but tend to go back to the same places over and over. ie: Europe: Ireland and only Ireland. Caribbean: lots of places once or twice, Puerto Rico more times than I remember. Boring…
    - For the first time in 25 years, I’m back to my natural haircolor. I recently told someone that was meeting me for the first time (he had to find me in a restaurant) that I’m “the short redhead with the long brown hair”. It wasn’t a date; it was a business contact. Oops.
    - I’m in love with Latin music, even more with dancing to it and I totally try to sing along even though I have a very, very limited Spanish vocabulary.

I got lots of catching up to do!

@ Anna - Professional girl huh? Don't worry i tried the marriage thing myself, it was a terrible idea.
Owned your own business at one point huh? Very impressive!

@ Beth; Hi I am Zach! LOL I can't believe you love math, I tolerate math because I see the purpose of it, but It isn't something I love. Kudos to you!

@ Cindy; Hi Cindy! Thyroid issues are terrible, my sis had the same deal, she got her's removed. It took her quite a while to adjust to the doses. Massage therapist? I will set up an appointment!

@Christine; I never saw you as a hockey fan ( I am not one, but that suprised me!) RN eh? Sometimes I wish I would have gotten into nursing (serious), the demand for male nurses is apparently pretty high. (Although that is just what I have heard)

@Sam, lol@ cows. I grew up on a "farm" in Indiana. My mom loved animals we had peacocks; chickens; ducks; geese; goats; dogs; cats. (Isn't really a farm but I understand). I did however work at my neighbors farms while growing up during the summers. Messed with many grain bins (>.<) That is how i discovered I am allergic to corn and bean dust! Also, I can't believe you weighed 40 lbs heavier, any before pics? As far as the whole boobs things go, I can assure you I don't discriminate on breast size, i can love em all ;)

@Jen Hi Jen! I am Zach! I love Seinfeld, seriously my favorite show of all time. I still crack up at the episode where Kramer "adopts a highway". That shows humor is absolutely timeless imo.

@Nicole Hi Nicole! I would probably call you Nikki if I ever met you! Sucker for paranormal stuff too huh? Should definently get involved it is a lot of fun! Where do you work that is haunted?

@Iniffa Hi! I am Zach! Wow, you may be what the people who I ghost hunt with call "sensitive". I don't think I am (assuming ghosts exist), but you would probably really enjoy "ghost hunting"! That is crazy though, I wonder what it is like to be sensitive!

@Cesar, hey there! Not much of a sci fi guy, but I am a video game nerd. I, just like yourself, don't play nearly as often as I did when I was in junior high/high school. Currently playing Path of Exile off and on, it is a blast!

@Victoria; Hi I am Zach! I know what you mean about wanting a job to support you. I actually find myself more interested in economics, but I figure Computer Science would have more job opportunities, that is why I am majoring in it. Plus I enjoy coding so, meh. Totally understand that, "pursuing your passion" is usually a one way ticket to poverty!

@Angie Hi Angie I am Zach! Anthem singer huh! Wow! I can't sing haha, it sounds bad! My mom really enjoys photography (although I wouldn't say hers is professional) Not sure I could get into it, but I imagine the really good shots you get every now and then makes it worth it!

@Eileen; lol I secretly like Karaoke as well, I am just bad hahah! Always wanted to go to Europe, would like to travel there sometime, but time will tell on that one!

Not a story this time, but some VERY random facts about myself:

    - I donated over 700 dollars (I am not saying that is a lot of money, just simply saying that I totally support his cause) to the Ron Paul campaign last year! The man is an inspiration, I would love to meet him and shake his hand.
    - When I was a kid I was a huge 4H nerd, and I also trained and showed dogs. (I also showed ducks and geese as well).
    - I am scared of the Ocean. For some reason I hate the idea of being in a body of water that big (basically I can handle the beach but I don't want to be on a boat in the ocean).
    - I hate TV and Movies in general, I find them boring and unoriginal.
    - I cannot stand open doors, I make sure I close them. For some reason they drive me nuts.

All completely random, but I figured I would contribute again. Next time I will tell a story about my past!

@ Zach- Scared of the OCEAN? I miss that, I love it, I crave it still after being in the States for nearly 22 years! I remember growing up and cliff diving into the ocean on dares from the older brother. I loved going out on the boats and going fishing, then getting back to shore, cleaning our own fish and roasting them over a pit of fire! I swim like a fish and taught my neice and nephew how to swim, that is why every where I move I need a pool.

Also, yes I am "sensitive', it's sometimes a good feeling but mostly for me I don't like it. I see things when I don't want to and that scares the crap out of me still. I have never been 'ghost hunting' and maybe I would like it..not sure.

Meeee toooo!!! I travelled across the Atlantic when I was 5 and one of the boys got lost and everyone started shouting 'overboard'. I was very scared. And I've hated the thought of ocean liners ever since. I'd never go on a cruise!

I dont mind speed boats, fishing etc, but I have to always be able to see the shore, otherwise I freak!

I'm the opposite!!!! I dont like closed door!. Not OCD about it, but I like to see what's going on on the other side of a door!!

We would have fun living in the same house!!!!

I love the water, I think I may have been a fish in a former life. I also think I may have been conceived on a boat.

But I don't like closed doors either, my house is pretty small and I always leave my doors open to make it seem bigger. I think closed doors are only for hiding things or for closets.

lol I love the ocean ... Its everything else about it I hate... I live in south FL watch enough shark week(love shark week) and you'll see all those beuatiful hammerheads migrating off the coast here.... I see it on the news lol.... Also found out that fl is the number 1 spot for shark bites a few years ago mostly d/t baby hammerheads.... I like my water in the pool lol.... Also I hate sand absoulitly hate it it gets everywhere grrrrr........

My strangest claim to fame is that I read anywhere upwards of 2 pages a minute and can recall 90% ish of what I read years later... I was great at test and oral book reports. Funnily enough with as much as I read I have horrible spelling due to a slight case of Dsylexia.
