March Madness

Good morning Hatters!
Well, it seems a little hard to believe that we're heading into the last week of March! One quarter of the year is already over.. yikes! Thankfully it also means nicer weather will soon be on the way for some of us - (yes Im completely jealous of those who already have it LOL) but absolutely looking forward to the first day the temps head into double digits here!
I have been a little.. lackadaisical (looks to Tammy - that IS a word, right? LOL) in how much effort I have been putting into my weight loss the past couple of weeks, and the lack of progress is proportional to the lack of effort, so this week I will be focusing on more veggies and proteins, and harder work towards my goal. I have 23 pounds left I want to lose, which means a minimum of 23 weeks to get there so time to remember why I'm here and what I want to accomplish, and my results will depend on how much I want it, and how much effort I am willing to put into it. So that's where I'm at this last week of March; what about everyone else? Any plans/changes/thoughts on your journeys you want to share?0 -
First of all, for those Mad Hatters who are celebrating Passover, have a lovely holiday!!
Tigger-thanks for the motivational news messages, they are great, Motivating Monday, I think as the winter just seems to be dragging on and on and on, it is a little hard for us cold weather girls to stay motivated.
Carol, did you figure out how the snow for sunshine exchange works, if so let me know. Although this is our first, most likely only snow of more than a dusting so I shouldn't complain, I know a lot of you have been dumped on this winter. But sunshine, I want sunshine and warm weather!
TA hope this week is better than last week.
Snoozie, thanks for taking the time to remind us to stop being laksadaisical. I have certainly been that. When the scale did not budge again, I knew it was because I got too used to eating processed food. so here are the excuses that my mind was using last week that I won't use this week.
Apples are mushy and have no good fruit---
----this week I will go to different stores until I find better fruit. This morning I bought Blood Oranges!
Its easier to grab some nuts than to plan lunch---
---This week I will figure out how to get real lunches, especially salads.
Too tired to fix a real dinner after the drive home from work
---really how hard is it to make a sweet potato in the microwave or scramble some eggs
Only one day of body pump
---will get out of bed on both Tuesday and Friday to get there
Not getting out for a walk at lunch
---I'm not so important that my office won't survive if I force myself to get that walk
AND for a non MFP excuse that has been going on since my nephew's late Sept wedding,I can get the wedding quilt done within a year and I have plenty of time
---Time to finish that quilt and get started on my backlog of my daughter's wedding quilt and quilts for the family's latest 3 babies
To all of the Hatters from the land down under, thanks for returning the sun to us, you have had it long enough for this year, it is our turn.
To all of the northern hemisphere Hatters, spring will come and it will still be Easter even for those of us who will need to wear our winter coats over our Easter outfits. Although I don't know what I will do about a hat that will go with the winter coat but still be festive enough to be my Easter hat!0 -
Looking around at Snooozie lackadaisical we are saying is a word !!!
For all my ladies still in cold and snow I am jealous but glad if we can't have snow that its not cold. I have always said cold without snow is a waste.
So Monday has come after a night of getting up every hour one the hour and finally giving up at 4:30 or so and getting up to find coffee. I went with my daughter and son in law for her doctor's visit this morning. The doctor is very positive in his diagnosis which has helped. There is no history of breast cancer on my side or her father's side of the family and she is young (22) for that reason he believes this to be nothing more than fibrous tumors. She will go tomorrow for a mammogram after which they will schedule out patient surgery to remove the tumors after which we will get a full report of results. But again he repeatedly reassured us that he does not believe this to be cancer.
I made it though the weekend without caving to food, but I am currently cooking chicken and dumpling casserole. I did use heart smart bisquick, lowfat milk, and added sliced baby carrots. Years ago my little one requested carrots in the regular chicken so we have kinda just continued since it sneaks in healthy veggies. It would be perfect if we had some warm fresh tomatoes from the garden but we haven't even set tomatoes out yet. That is on the plans for this week though.
Now confession time as you know I have really struggled the last few months with the scale. What you don't know is that I moved the scale from one room to another and gained 10 lbs overnight (as well as my husband and daughter so it wasn't just me but the scale) But b/c I didn't want to reset my clicker I have been also working to lose that extra 10 without reporting it. So while my ticker shows I have lost 8 lbs since December I have actually lost 18 lbs but I guess b/c I wasn't moving the ticker it kept messing with my mind. I really kept forgetting about the extra 10 when reflecting. It was only after last weeks doctor visit that I realized I that 18 lbs in that amount of time wasn't a bad lose and that I had been sabotagging myself in the process of not changing my ticker. So what have I learned from this experience? Just as it is important to log accurately it is just as important to adjust the numbers accordingly (at least for me)
I am confident that I will hit my half way marker this week at weigh in (Thursday) finally. That will mean just 20 more to that magic -100. Then only -10 to onederland a place I have not been since high school. I can remember ordering my cap and gown and lying about my weight b/c I was made to feel so fat. As a look back now I realize that while I was larger than some girls I was no more than a few months from being a healthy weight. I have not liked myself in a very long time and weight was an easy cover for everything that was wrong in my life that only in the last few years I have come to understand and began to change. I believe this has also contributed to the success of this journey and why I do believe I will reach my goal this time and be able to maintain a healthy weight.
So as my previous hatters posted time to focus !!!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
Tammy.... huge huge kudos on the 18lbs... it sucks you had to suffer the mental head games with the scale movement, but you did awesome while you were suffering! And I have no doubt whatsoever you will get to ALL your goals... and especially I can't wait to dance when you hit the -100.. i suspect most of us have had decades of self esteem issues tied directly to our weight - but how wonderful we are able to now not only shed the exess weight, but more importantly, realize that it has nothing to do with who we are and how fabulous we are!! So glad to hear the prognosis looks good for your daughter too!!
Janet - LOVE your list! I could relate to a lot of them, because I've used most of them too ( Kudos to you my friend!! And happy Passover as well to all who celebrate... funny about the easter hat comment; I distinctly remember getting new dresses and hats for Easter as kids, and all of us heading down 45th Avenue in Montreal to catch the bus to go to church, proudly strutting in my new little dress and most importantly, the hat with a ribbon!! Altho a promised trip to the chip wagon afterwards may have put some of the spring in my step too.. I dunno LOL.. But i did love those hats!

I’m Back!!
Whew! I hate coming back to work after being off for a few days. But We had such a good time...I haven't laughed or drank so much in a very long time..... and no hang over!......but I did try to get into the WRONG car!! I know !! sounds sooooooooo not like me~~`hehehee~~ I am a bit of a DITZ!!...... My friend was talking to me and as we came out of the little stop and go place, she went around the white car ( her new car is white, too) so… I went around the other side and pulled open the door!! ….As I realized it wasn't our stuff in there, I looked up and my friend has this wild- eyed look ...My mind just blew up!! I was in such a panic to close the door and get away , but I was laughing so hard....trying not to Pee in my pants..( it does happen!) I cried.."Eve!! I'm not even drunk, !!" But , if someone had come out ,while I was trying to get in it, I was going to put on my best drunk act..:drinker:
( disclaimer: I really don't get drunk....can't stand the hangovers!!)
It was such a hoot! It really was one of those things where you had to be there to appreciate it.
The weather was a bit too cold for a vacation, but we made the best of it... Did a little eating, nothing extravagant....no lbs. gained, I don't think... did a little drinking.... went to the beach a few times....hot tub'd it, and went swimming, they had an indoor heated pool, which was nice..
Mostly we just relaxed, it was wonderful, but I was ready to come home, by the end of it..
Tammy, Cathy, Keeping you in my prayers….wishing you and yours the best with these issues…
Seehe ….Fantastic news with the Doctor visit!! You have worked so hard for it. Your photo is so cute! I think you are on the second row, from the top, on the right??
Tonya , don’t give up on me. I’m going to find the right time.
Janet, Happy Passover. Love your last few posts, much good ,positive thinking to take an use myself.
I weighed and it looks like I didn’t gain anything (while I was off on vacation….), but I weighed this morn and I am up a bit….not that it has anything to do with the Russell Stover SMORES!! Take my advice and don’t even go down the same aisle they are on…..
I hope you all have a fantastic day….Spring is coming, I just know it! ( Has anyone thought about getting some GLASSES for that little groundhog??? He must have seen something other than his shadow…
