Completed my first 10k today! My accomplishments? I RAN.EVERY.STEP. Even when the course had a "hill", I ran. Each step was about 2 inches at the steepest portions, but I ran every one. Screamed at the top, and then had about 4 miles left to go:) I finished in 86 minutes, and came in 580 out of 588. I'm pretty sure I was heaviest/chubbiest on the course. I was blown away by how competitive it was. My Aunt, who is one of my heroes, stayed with a friend of hers the whole time (who panicked on the hill... 440FT elevation in .53 miles, to end a 2 mile steady climb of another 330FT); and they came in DFL. When it was time to cross the finish line, they grabbed hands, and my Aunt made sure to come in a couple inches behind her. I got to take their picture as they crossed.

I also admit, I cried near the end of the race. Hadn't finished yet, but at the moment I knew I would, I passed a neighbor who was blaring Chariots of Fire out her window for all the runners, and I cried, cried, cried.

    November... one minute intervals.
6 years ago, need a break if I'd walk so far as 1/2 mile as I was recovering from 7 surgeries in 5 years; and was 78 pounds heavier.

    Damn humbling.

Congratulations! Amazing job. I love that someone was blaring Chariots of Fire out the window. I would have been bawling like a baby.

Amazing!!! Congrats to you. Sometimes I am just baffled by the capability of our bodies. We go through stages where we can't do little or not much at all, but with work, time and commitment we move forward. Going from barely able to walk a short distance without needing a break to running every step o fa 10K, is proof that anything is possible. Congrats again!!!

Y'all have no idea how inspiring this thread is. Thank you so much for that, and a huge congratulations to all of you who have been rocking it out there. I've got a couple of weeks left in my 10K training and I'm really looking forward to my first race at that distance. As another person who seriously doubted that she would ever finish C25K: Kudos and thank you!
