BTW...What do you guys think of the Cedella Marley designed Team Jamaica costumes?

actually the outfits looked quite nice lastnight. i think they changed it up abit (apart from the women's skirt lol)

lol...I didn't even pay attention to the shoes. I saw on Facebook where Bolt is bigging up the clothes so I suppose he likes it.

I know of track and field events (the usual running, plus steeplechase, discus, triple jump, long jump, shot putt and decathalon), equestrian, swimming and taekwondo. I dont think the rifle shooting person will be there this year.

let me know the schedule for these other events apart from track and field that JA will be participating in so i can look out for it. i know there's some swimming taking place this morning

As long as a Jamaican win I am cool though i have a slight preference for Bolt. I don't think the world is ready for the new kid just yet.....they love Bolt too much...

Asafa looking good these days. but muscles don't win races all the same  . I think it would be nice for Bolt to win at his last Olympics and then Blake can take over next time.

I heard rave reviews about the Queen's sketch and Mr. Bean, but didn't see much of the opening ceremony (thought that it would be boring :blushing: ).

I would like to see Asafa get a medal but it is unlikely he will get gold or even silver in the 100m with Bolt and Blake plus Gay and Gatlin.

I enjoyed the opening ceremony but I am assuming that if you are not British or living in Britain you probably wouldn't get some if it. I liked the whole industrial revolution concept plus the whole music/dancing section. The only bit I didn't quite get was the nurses/docs and kids from the Great Ormond Street Hospital. I understand they were paying tribute to the NHS but still I got a little bit lost. Overall a great performance in my opinion:laugh: and indeed very British:smile:

I agree with catlady, want Bolt to win this one then Blake can take over after this.

First of all I must say I want a clean sweep for the men like the ladies did in Beijing...lol. I personally prefer if Bolt wins since he has grown on me, but I will take anyone wearing the Jamaican colours. If an American should upset the cart let it be Gay because I like him too. Meck boasy bwoy cheater Gatlin go oneside.

The Opening Ceremony was okay...very British...lol. I know a lot of people, especially those who are not normally interested in sports found it boring. Me...I will endure anything (except maybe American Football) in the name of sports so I watched it all. It wasn't of the entertainment standard of Beijing but if it was then I would be cussing the British for selling out so I will accept it.

ackeebee the outfits indeed looked great in the Opening Ceremony and the regular ones that the athletes have been pictured in daily look even better. I also loved one of Alia's swimsuits that had the Bob Marley imprint on the front. Cedella Marley will get nuff props after this Olympics. I even saw tennis players on Twitter wondering if any of the Jamaican athletes will consider letting off some of the jackets etc. MSN graded our guys as being some of the coolest in the parade with how fly they looked.

Jamaica is off to a good start with Alia doing great in the pool. Lets hope this is a launching pad for a great Olympics for the rest of the team. GO JAMAICA!!!

LOL @Tony. Yes I have been hooked on the swimming as well. In fact I have been hooked on the whole Olympics. There are some sports such as Judo, Weightlifting, Water Polo etc that I didn't think I would watch but as soon as you start, it is amazing how drawn in you get. For me the swimming and the synchronised diving has definitely been the highlight so far.

Chrisja, I would invest in one of those Jamaican jackets too lol. I missed the race where Alia was wearing the swimsuit with the Bob Marley imprint but saw a pic of it on facebook. Very nice! Good on her for making the final! Though she came 4th, that is still a great achievement. I hope she gets a medal in one of her other events.

Apart from the swimming with Alia I have been supporting team GB (until athetics start of course when it will be all about Jamaica again). Pure disappointment GB bring so far man.......can't blv those 2 guys dash weh the synchonised diving when they were doing so well. At least the gymnasts managed to get a medal yesterday, though it was bronze, still a good result.

Just had a German on the line telling me how great the suit was that Usain was wearing at the Opening Ceremony. Go Team Jamaica!

i can't wait to go to the events i have but glad i'm not at work for the next 2 weeks the journey would be hell.

Update Wiggins has gold too for cycling.

Well done GB, 2 golds in one day!

Which events are you going to Angel?

I work in Chelsea and live in North West London which involves me taking the Jubilee and District/Circle lines and surprisingly the commute to and from work has been a breeze so far. Yesterday and Monday for instance were quieter than normal. Not sure why. I am assuming alot of Londoners are away on holiday. This morning was abit busier than the previous 2 days but it wasn't overly busy.....was just like a normal Wednesday morning. Perhaps things will get abit more hectic later in the games.

Joining the conversation late so forgive me…but super excited about Olympics!!!!
So, who is team GB? Did I miss something. Did we win a gold??? Time difference making me think I am missing things.

Anyway, so excited we have some new sports this year. Equestrian, Swimming and Taekwondo!! Can you imagine. I was so pumped for Alia.

Can’t wait for track to start…I am going for Bolt AND Blake!!! Because I am selfish an want us to win.

One of my work colleagues went to the handball lastnight and was telling me how impressive the olympic park is. I was hoping to get entry ticket just for the park but that seems to be sold out too.....oh dear :-(

    Hi there

Re team GB, we were referring to Great Britain. Jamaica hasn't won anything yet. Bring on the Athletics:wink:

When is the Taekwando? And what time tomorrow is Alia's next race?

Was never any Olympic Park tickets for during the Athletics so they are done now. Hockey and Handball were the best bet to get in. Two people I work with are Going Sunday to see Hockey in the morning and are just going to stay on the park after.

Oh I see. Both Hockey and Handball are sold out it seems. There are still tickets for Boxing, Football, Volleyball and Basketball but none of these are being held at the Olympic Park. I wonder if there will be any available during the Paralympic Games?

One of the BBC journalists was saying its best to get the Paralympic Olympic park event tickets now cos as soon as people come back saying how good it is they will be all gone! Dunno about park entry tickets but that's a hint! I can't wait until Wednesday but this weekend will be TV.
