Experiences? I have read so much about HFLC that I feel like I know this is what is good for me. Maybe not everyone, but good for me. But then I feel like a huge *kitten* when I am constantly correcting them with what I've learned.

    Annoying! Experiences? Comments?

it is a proven, scientific fact that to combat high LDL cholestorol you have to
    1. increase HDL by adding omega 3 EFAs to the diet
    2. exercise.

    that's all!

oh, and avoid sugars which become triglycerides! Keep up the low carb way of life and prove them all wrong.

How refreshing; a thread full of comments from like-minded people!

I get so sick of people attacking my eating plan, especially when I respond to the "Help Me!" threads. It isn't the OP that goes crazy but other anti-fat and anti-meat types. I don't have issue with opposing opinions, but I hate being disrespected and that people pass off their opinions as "fact" (research has "proven", references to the China study, and other debunked/illogical crap) while ridiculing other opinions and credible research sources. I only give my opinions; while I have lots of great sources, I'm not going to provide them any longer. It's taken thousands of hours to learn/experience what I know, so others can put in the same effort if they are so inclined. History doesn't mean anything apparently, because we miraculously "evolved" at the speed of light to eat refined carbs. NOT.

Someone that posts regularly calls low carbers/primal/paleo followers "lethargic and stupid". That tells me that they have never actually met someone who is eating a healthy diet based on fat and protein. Nor do they apparently know much about how the human body works. But that doesn't stop them from being rude and ignorant.

Hey, we know what's working for us and how healthy we are, so I guess is justification enough!

Ha, I saw (read) a guy once say that low-carb diets were only for those too lazy to exercise!! I responded by saying ORLY, I play rugby and keep my carbs lower (I'm more moderate carb now ~100g, but off-season I'm lower), and perform BETTER than when I ate "healthy whole grains". (of course, it also helps I'm at a lower weight!) I got no response, lol.

Absolutely. I still have a lot to lose but, yes, there is no bloat, and I FEEL slim (just don't look in the mirror!). When I eat this way I feel like Super Woman! It's tiring for other people to tell me how "sick" I am when all my health issues have disappeared. I really want them to explain how it is that my diet is so "unhealthy" but my body just loves it! For some reason, they think we are just making it all up, I guess?

Oh, and lots of people try to warn about difficult BMs (diverticulitis) when eating low carb: BS!!!

I've looked at many diaries. Though "we" are supposedly eating a "dangerous" diet, we are the ones eating the most natural, least processed foods overall (even artificial sweeteners are more heavily used by the SAD followers). Go figure.

Definintely, but mine seems to also be an issue with wheat/gluten (I just say I'm gluten intolerant; I'm not going back to eating wheat for 6 weeks just to pay for a test, when the only solution is to avoid wheat!). I can still eat some potatoes and rice (in limited quantities), though if I go all-out on a carbfest (which would probably be more like a SAD) I get tummy issues again.

Free of wheat and low to moderate carbs, and I'm off all my prescriptions for acid reflux and PCOS (including metformin), no more allergy meds, no more eczema, no more joint pain, no more IBS, no more bloaty, no more brain fog, or headaches (unless my electrolytes are off or a storm is approaching), etc. Quicker healing/recovery time. I'd rather treat the cause of my health issues, than take drugs to treat only the symptoms!!

lol i know. too funny. its kind of a modified primal way of eating.. and were people over weight back then? not that i know of. lol. when i was low cal i was at 1200 and i lost a little at first.. over a period of 3 months i gained it back plus 4 lbs. i was logging and staying under. my body didnt like that at all. i was eating garbage though because theres so many 100 calorie packs that help you get thru the day. so as for me, and probably plenty of you, we lose on low carb and theres nothing wrong with that. bodies are different on the outside and possibly on the inside too. i wouldnt ***** out a low cal person. whatever works :) . BUT... THIS WORKS :D

My wife has issues with gluten, and even after a year of reduced wheat intake, when she took her test she was 110 on their scale of sensitivity (normal is around 10). She gets swelling, joint pain, bowel discomfort, etc whenever she eats it. People still look at her like she's crazy when she turns down bread and such. Fact of the matter is that the little bit of wheat is not worth the roughly 4 days of pain she ends up in when she eats it.

I think there are a lot of undiagnosed gluten issues out there, sub-clinical stuff. People who just live with conditions and accept them as normal.

If you read Wheat Belly then some of the stories of people whose health has improved just by quitting wheat are eye-opening.

I happily sat at the dinner table last night and passed on the garlic bread, it may well be tasty but as nutrition I can do better ...

agree. no one really knows what " normal " is supposed to feel like since everyones different . like i have always had a mild headache daily. sometimes severe but mostly just annoying.. it feels normal to me , but then people who dont have them wine about them lol. i love the days i do not have one. not often tho. that was just an example of what i could think of.

yes! i see this all the time: "low carb is the lazy way to diet!"

    really?

cooking at home went up like 300%. because i don't want to ingest any hidden sugars, cornstarch, flour, frakenoils or anything not worth going into my body. this is the most un-lazy "diet" i've ever been on and love every minute of it (and so does my fiance). i told this to the fathead facebook group and one person suggested making one of those ecards about how the HFLC crowd is sooooo lazy... :P

now... low fat... that is pretty lazy. 100 calorie packs here, lean cuisine there... all fake foods! nuke it and done. open bag, inhale contents, done. it's the way my brother and his wife eat. they're so obsessed with calorie counting and fat. my bro has high blood pressure and high cholesterol and thinks that he'll just have to live with it forever because none of his problems are waning on his diet of wheat thins, fat free cheeses, skinless chicken and turkey burgers. hmmm. maybe that's not working! he told me that it's taken him since january to lose 12 lbs.... it's taken me a month and a half to lose that. and i'm a WOMAN.

i haven't run into nasty comments yet but i have a few comebacks up my sleeves armed and ready ;)

This is the wider picture that the 'I can lose weight by eating Pop Tarts and exercising like a loon, everything in moderation, a calorie is a calorie, look at my near pornographic profile pic for evidence" mob completely miss ...

    OMG LOVE THIS! So true.

Thanks for the chuckles and I always get the same reaction when I turn down dessert, "don't you want a bite of this?" Arghh, it drives me crazy!

Yeah. I have started to react as if it will kinda kill me.

Bugged eyes... No. I can't eat that.

Hopefully in time they will stop offering. Would you offer a diabetic sugar? UGH. When I go to places to eat, sometimes I tell them I am diabetic to make sure they use SF stuff.

So true. Got a smartphone and was all pumped to scan what I eat into my diary. Um, can't do that because I don't eat processed foods that often anymore! HA!

I have gotten tired of explaining myself to others. Now if they look at me like I am nuts I just tell them that I AM diabetic. Then I get an "Oh ok" and they leave it alone. It still makes me want to ring their necks but at least I dont have to listen to their BS.
Hmmm... I gained 40lbs eating Lean Cuisines, 100 cal packs, and eating low fat/low cal and I have lost 35 of those lbs by eating LCHF. My blood sugar and all of my other levels INCLUDING cholesterol are great.
I eat bacon and eggs, steak, etc. Sometimes I want to say - "Shut up and eat your salad" LOL!

I miss bread. I LOVE bread and cookies and cakes and all that other yummy stuff. I do NOT miss feeling bloated and tired and hungover all the time. I'll take my bowl of strawberries with sugar free whipped cream. Thanks!

Another lazy fat-burning day in the offing.

Man, if I wasn't so devoid of energy and verve due to my low carbohydrate intake I could feel angry with myself.

    ;)
