    Good luck!
  • Week 5, Day 1: Done. It was a bit easier than the preceding weeks due to the reduced running time (44min) and I managed a full 5 miles/ 8km. That puts me at around 6.5mph, a tiny bit under the pace for 10k in an hour, which this time next week I should be managing. I'm happy with that.

Wk5 day 1 done! Had a bit of a route nightmare- I'd planned a route that involved taking a cut through an estate, could I find it? Could I hell!! So after running round several cul-de-sacs, I made it back onto the main road! Also....was really, really cold, like -3 cold. Brrrrrrrrrr

W5D1 completed! This was an abbreviated workout, but it seems to get longer for days 2 and 3. That said, I was still full of energy at the end of the two 22 minute runs, so I ran another 20 minutes at the end, just for ****s and giggles:)

    SUPER!
That is a weird feeling - kind like your legs are warm and watery.
    Way to push yourself!!

Back on it this morning! Lovely sunny day, but cold, thankfully no frost or icy winds

Completed 6.74 miles- my longest distance yet! Whoop!

Anyway, 5 weeks done, now for the big scary week 6!

Finally into Week 5 with you all...did W5D1 this morning. My mileage is so much lower than all of yours....today clocked in just over 4 miles since you run less time with this one. Trying not to feel bad about it....like with C25K, the distance came as I built stamina. My route still left me about half a mile from home when the workout was done so I tacked that on as well. I'm not gonna lie...it wasn't easy for me. Every time I'm out there I still can't believe how hard this feels.
  • I am still slowly building back up to running more than 10 min at a time.
I am really scared to injure my back and leg again.
I think I am running too tense. I hurt all over and feel exhausted.
That wasn't happening before I got injured.
Still doing intervals here to build my confidence back up.
I know you all will achieve B210K graduation before me but I hope to be there in the Spring ( we are starting to get the wintery weather here now ).
    I will keep pushing ...

You all are doing so well - very proud of each of you.
Way to get out there and do it and to keep at it when there are obstacles in your way.
  • Ok y'all - I headed out today for a walk / run with my kids riding ahead on their bikes.
I got in a 5 min run and my phone rang - DANG IT - I had to take it. It was my Vet calling me back to schedule my cat's surgery.
I kept on trucking along at a brisk walk while talking and putting the info on my phone's calendar.
I got in 6 mins of a run and my phone rang AGAIN. WHAT IS THE DEAL!? My phone doesn't usually ring this often.
Once again I had to take it. It was the Vet School this time calling me back about scheduling my horses teeth floating. Scheduled and entered into my phone calendar while walking.
Guess they don't mind all my huffing and puffing but I was trying to do something here!
Finally managed to get going again and ran the rest of the way home - 20 mins. YAY

As I was doing the cool down walk around to the house, I got a make-you-turn-grey pain in my left knee ( low ).
    OUCH!!
    Hurt like a *&*)^*%*%)_&*#$#(^
    I am falling apart!!!!
I just stopped and let the pain go away before I tried putting any weight on it again.
    Twinge this time.
Started to walk gingerly on it to make it back home.
    Tender but ok.
I am going to ice it tonight.
    Walk tomorrow.
Try again on Wednesday to see how it goes.

Finished Week 5 this morning. Honestly didn't expect I would be able to finish as is....thought I would have to take some breaks or maybe even bail on the second half and try again another day. But I did it. I still can't even believe it.

It was in the mid 20s here, which seems to honestly be the best temperature for running for me...I never get too hot. I warmed up pretty fast. I went at an easy pace so I probably could have gone longer, which is probably a good sign for Week 6.

Which I still honestly can't even imagine....going from 30 minutes without a break to 60....but if I try to remember it was just a small one minute and that I've already run that total time....I might be able to do it. At this point I think it's mostly mental anyway.

5.12 miles. Still not even close to 6.2....but it is what it is. I'm still pretty psyched.

You are absolutely right, the battle is more in our heads than our bodies. You'll see that week 6 really is no different if you don't allow yourself to give up:) You'll do great!

Headed outdoors into a cool cool October morning (40's F) and ran my W5 D1 session. Did the (2) 22 minute intervals than added a 10 minute interval at the end. I am gearing myself up to run 12K on my last run of this program which will be next week Saturday so I am adding a bit of time on to the intervals to try and condition myself for that day. Looking forward to Thursday which will be day 2 of week 5 for me. Hear I come 25 minute intervals...look out

So Thursday came and gone with another great and challenging run with W5D2 session in which I ran a 5K for my first interval and then walked for the 1 minute and then did the second 25 minutes of running.

Then on Sunday I went out with sweat pants and a light pullover jacket over my t-shirt to run my W5D3 session (was a bit chilly). Again I modified the session a bit. Instead of doing the two 30 minutes intervals I ran a 10K and when I was done with that I kept on running 'til I hit 12K... and WOW that is a bit of a distance...LOL WHEW.

So moving on to Week 6...Here we go.
  • I did W5D1 a couple of days ago after skipping W4. Only one additional minute to each run didn't seem like a big deal so I went ahead and moved on. W5D1 went well until I got a stitch in my side that slowed me down. Not sure if I'll attempt D2 today or leave it for tomorrow.

Bringing this one to life as I've been slowly working through these weeks.

Completed D1 of WK5 this morning. I went out at 6:30am as a hot day is expected, so thought get out there early. So glad I did as already at 11am it's hot. It was so lovely running at that time of the morning, so quiet and just the beautiful sounds/smells of nature. I passed a PYO fruit field and the aroma of strawberry that was wafting my way just delightful.

I'm due to run my first 10K on Thursday and feel confident I can finish. The problem will be it's an evening run (19:30) and Thursday's expected to be a hot day. I hope I'll be able to cope with the heat. I think I'll have to drink more than usual before and during to get through it. So excited though

Yesterday I did Day 1 of Week 5. For the first time, my last interval was faster than my first. 4.61 miles for the workout, 5.09 miles with warm up/cool down. I plan to register for a 10k September 8th. I am feeling really good about this.
