this is what i think of when i think curvy.

    UqGrQxMQkrvDlVGTCIZQi.jpg

I don't think she's curvy. her waist isn't defined enough.

Mesha said it perfectly. If you are curvy, you don't have to stand weird to look curvy.

There's nothing wrong with NOT being curvy. But it's one of those things where so many women claim to be "curvy" or "hourglass" shaped but few of them actually are.

Yeah, but as we can see from this post KIts, it's subjective!!

The way I see it on a dating site is: slim, athletic, average, curvy, obese - curvy is definitely more towards a higher body fat than slim. But obviously you need to have a defined figure to call yourself that.

Fun survey, at the moment the term 'curvy' is ranging from skinny to obese!!

i agree with kits (i'm turning into kits' parrot over hear) there's nothing wrong with not being curvy. not all women are shaped like hourglasses or pears.

i also agree that the photo that laces out posted isn't curvy. she's basically in the same pose as the photo anna posted, so she only looks curvy because of how she's standing. straighten her out and she's a ruler, same with the anna's photo. and you dont have to have a lot of body fat to be curvy. this girl has like 10% body fat and i'd consider her curvy

    female-transformation-maria-steward_fsm.jpg

just so it doesnt seem like we're picking on women, i might just start a similar topic on what's considered athletic build for men, because that seems to be the male version of curvy sometimes. ladies are thinking "ooh the rock" while he's thinking "yeah i look like an nfl linesman"

Meesh, this woman has got no tits, how can that be curvy? She is what my Mum would call 'skin and bone'!!

    bone structure.

i have boobs but i'm not curvy. it's all about hip to waist ratio and there is clearly a huge difference between her hips and her waist.

curvy is about how the whole fits together IMO, not just the individual parts

Agreed! But she has no curve at the top! You can have a slim waist and big hips, but not having the top half curving outwards..........and fake boobs dont cut it either!! Curvy is a very natural state, IMO

    anyway, we've agreed to differ........:flowerforyou:

You can see a definite angle inward from her ribs though. creating a defined indentation that is necessary to be "curvy"

To be fair, it could just be how she is standing, with her arm up like that. However that's the gist.

Mesha, you and I are totally on the same wavelength today! Haha

With respect to our friend that posted about the term 'curvy' and a comment by Meesha saying that there is a disconnect between what men and women consider curvy. I thought I'd do a survey

This lady is what I consider curvy (and gorgeous!)

Thoughts? Votes? Your own images of curvy? :flowerforyou:

    not curvy. she is overweight/fat.

anytime i see someone list themselves as "curvy" i expect them to be fat.

If she is fat, then I'm majorly obese haha.

And Kate Upton is not really curvy. She's gorgeous...but not curvy. Her waist and hips are practically the same circumference.

and from your avatar you seem to be thinner than she is.

That lady doesn't even have a stomach! Unless she's wearing a fat-sucking girdle. I think she just has a bigger stature overall and that is why she appears bigger. I would say she is "bigger" but not fat. I might be smaller than her but I bet that she has less body fat overall.

We agree on Beyonce being curvy as well as others Ive pointed out. Definitely would NOT describe the body builder as curvy. She is slim/muscular/athletic/ but I wouldnt look at her and think 'ah, great curves'

    But I would these ladies:

    Marie-Claire-curvy-women-like-drugs-article1.jpg

Google 'curvy women' and all of them are over 20% body fat. More like 30% some of them. I can't see someone with low body fat as being curvy even if her waist to hip ratio is high. But that's just me. I dont really like the muscular look on women either.......shock/horror!!

Is she overweight by some measures or standards...probably and so would I be.

Is she fat...not in my book.

    Is she sexy...you betcha.

My opinions and all that matters to me. :drinker:

Any woman can look curvy by standing like that.

Also, Google isn't the answer just because a lot of overweight women pop up, because fat acceptance people have taken over the terms "curvy" and "voluptuous" and the like. Google just does a word search, so if someone saves an image as "curvy woman" then that's what comes up.

she's a ruler. i can guarantee you that as a ruler, when you look at us straight on, you will not see a stomach but from sideways, that's a whole different story. in fact i was looking at old photos of me when i was at my goal weight that's about 50 pounds less from now. i have dont very little expansion from side to side, but it's very apparent from front to back

and this lady is definitely overweight, sorry.

I think this lines it all up pretty good.

    fat-curvy-slender.jpg

Image called Fat to Curvy to Slender

To me, all of those women have things that are beautiful about them. I don't find the far left lady attractive for me, but I do think she's got beautiful attributes. I like the confidence and happiness that she is exhibiting, but that doesn't make her curvy.

Edit: UGH the image is huge. Right click "view image" to see the whole thing...
