I can't be the only one who can't do jumping exercises!? Can I?? Everytime I jump a little, I pee a little.:embarassed: I love Jillian Michaels 30 day shred but.....At work (I teach preschool) I try to get the kids moving but every time I jump..... I so want to try some kind of exercise class but I'm so afraid of peeing my pants!! Oh and Kegels, ya, those don't really seem to help. End of rant. Guess I'll stick to walking and running for exercise.:flowerforyou:

wow that sucks. I guess it could be worse:blushing: walking it great,I wish I could do it but I have bad knees:sad:0

Try to practice the squeezing pelvic area exercise everyday or whenever you can, even while teaching. 10 times. Or as many times as you can. That will help to tighten the muscles around that area. As we grow older, muscles tend to loosen esp after giving birth.0
-
I can't really do jumping exercises either, but it is due to a bad knee. I sometimes have your issue when I sneeze though so I totally understand. Lol.0
-
Bad knee here too, I've had one replaced, and the other feels like it needs it. I'd love to be able to do Jillian or run. But....we do what we can!0
-
Oh my do we all sound old! Jumping exercises hurt my knees and ankles. That's why I enjoy Leslie Sansone and my Kinnect YSFE game. They work my legs and heart without hurting my joints.0
-
For those with bad knee, strengthen up the thighs with sumo squats, that had helped me to get back to skipping and started running.0
-
i do jumping exercises, love them!~0
-
LOL I have had the same issue! It has actually gotten better though the more I have exercised. I was actually wearing a pad for a while because I was so worried!0

Really??? It got better? How? What did you do? I was thinking about buy some pads. I really want to do 30d Shred, but all those jumping jack and rope skipping oh my!!!!0 -
Do your kegal exercises (look it up) and pilates. Will strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and tighten up the muscles.0
-
I have found that the longer you continue to do them over a period of time, the better it becomes! When I first started it was not pretty as well, but have o problems at all now;)0
-
Everyone is correct. Keep with the kegals and pelvic tightening. If in a couple months you still have an issue, speak with your doctor about possibly having your bladder slung. I have had a few friends do this and were very happy with the results. Until then, wear protective pads. AND JUMP AWAY! I had my bladder reslung when Ihad my hysterectomy in 98. Now that bad boy is as tight as can be.0
-
Yep, been there. Like one person said for me it is when I sneeze hard. I heard that there was medication for it. Have you talked with your doctor about it? Obviously your not the only one so I would use a pad and do what you want to do. Don't let it stop you!0
-
Thanks guys. I appreciate the kind words of advice. I may mention it to my doctor the next time i go in. I really don't want a bladder suspension though:noway:0

Ha! I did the 30 day shred for the first time yesterday and had the same wetting problem! I was mortified and stopped to go the bathroom. Same problem five minutes later. I had a baby two years ago and many women in their 20s on my birth board complain of the same problem when exercising or sneezing. No sling for me either.0
-
YEP. Exercising, sneezing, coughing and miles 8-13 :O) I can do some jumping as long as it's one leg and then the other, never both at the same time Kegels, I can never remember to do them!0
-
I don't even know if that would happen for me... I just can't bring myself to jump! it's some kind of bizarre fear - might be jiggling related, I suppose.0
-
ALL else fails .....you can plan your jumping and wear a depend type of under garment.....then JUMP JUMP TO IT!!!!
NONETHELESS....DO WHACHA CAN AND LOVE IT!!!0 -
This might be too much information, but...I was doing the Rockin' Body exercise DVD this morning, and halfway through I peed. A lot. I had to stop, because it was running down my legs. Kegels? Nah, do nothing. Unfortunately I think it's our age (can't believe I just said that!). Poise Pads have become my new best friend. :sad:0
-
OMG-me too! I was so embarassed to admit it. I have to pee mid-workout every time. Is it really age? C'mon I'm only 40! I did have a baby a couple years ago though..0
-
Ya'll are too funny! It is refreshing to hear others voice issues I have been dealing with. I too am a firm believer in poise pads! We do jumping jacks as part of our workout at work and I can fill one up pretty quick. I have gotten to where I am okay for the first 5 or six (four count jumping jacks) of the 25 we do, so I do agree that exercising will help. Three weeks ago I was "leaking" on the very first one. And as long as we are on the embarrassing topics...does anyone have problems with sit ups and passing gas? I HATE having to have a partner for situps!!! Is that just from gallbladder being removed? or is that also weight related?0
-
I'm reading this post through and actually laughing! Thankyou for sharing your stories, I'm so glad it's not just me! Guess I'll have to pick up some of those poise pads next time I'm out and about. You girls are awesome!0
-
I love you all
I do have the same problem, age and having kids all take their toll. I have to agree with the comments so far, keep exercising the pelvic floor and wear pads...
My other problem is the size of my boobs... I can't jump without support (both panty & bra :blushing: ) but the sport's bras I've had to buy to suppress the amply movement are so restrictive that I can't last for a 60min class....
Anyway I've given up high inpact aerobic classes and started doing a DVD at home - yogalates. A mix of pilates & yoga so hopefully it will help my downstairs while trimming my upstairs0 -
I am laughing as I read these posts because I can relate. Coughing, sneezing, sometimes no apparent reason. I've often wondered if it might be hormone related because I notice it happens more often at certain times of the month. But, Poise pads have saved me. I've noticed coupons in the Sunday paper and have started clipping. I haven't tried any jumping to see if leaking happens then, yet.
Last week my 16 year old son and I were doing a Turbo Jam video (my constant motivator - love him to pieces). I felt leakage and had to step away for a minute. Thank goodness we were coming up to the cool down. Thankfully he hasn't got a clue - at least I don't think so?????
As to the questions regarding sit-ups and gas. I too am glad to not have a partner when doing these.0 -
I've always had this problem until I started lifting weights. Cough, sneeze, strain to lift something or jumping. I'm not sure when it went away but it was sometime during weight lifting. I'm just glad I was working out at home.0

^^^This.
Also, and please don't think I'm being vulgar, but an easy and pleasurable way to tighten things up down there is to have frequent (daily) orgasms. You're basically getting in a kegel workout with the rapid muscle contractions that occur when you climax. I see on your profile that you're married, I'm sure you're husband would enjoy helping you out. If not, perhaps consider buying a vibrator.0 -
I don't jump (or run) either. Not for same reason as you, but that's another story. I've been doing Tai Cheng, which is a low impact exercise program. I have found that I am still working up the sweat, but i am not hurting my knees, ankles or jumping. i can understand your frustration tho. Sending a friend request your way. Would love to know how you're doing. Also, i'm on facebook as same username as here: Desireelynnbr.0

Got one better for you. Was standing in a beauty type store when it hit me I had to pee now!! Asked the clerk for the restroom, shes refused, saying, sorry no public restroom. To my horror I pee'd right down my leg into my shoe AND onto her floor! (ha ha) Graciously payed for my items and thought to myself, bet the next time you let the poor woman use the bathroom! lol0
-
You're not alone sister! But frankly, jumping is overrated.0

After buying a mini-trampoline and nearly getting beat to death by my own body, I decided to take up swimming. With a great pair of goggles and some chlorine shampoo, the pool is my friend. I am getting sooo toned and I am 48. I still have a LOT of weight to lose, but man, I feel good.0
