    Hi Everyone,

I am new to myfitnesspal as well as this group. My name is Kristie, and like many of you I have struggled with my weight most of my life. I am 30 years old and the mother of two adorable children. My daughter just turned 2 and my son just turned 4 months old. My husband is naturally thin, and while he is very encouraging does not have the same struggles as I do.

I had been doing weight watchers in 2009 and had lost around 75 pounds when I got pregnant with my daughter....I threw caution to the wind and gained 103 pounds during my pregnancy. I got back on weight watchers after she was born and had lost around 25 pounds when I got pregnant with my son. Unlike the first pregnancy I was careful and only gained 20 pounds. (he weighted 9 lbs 8 oz so thats pretty good!) Since his birth I have already lost 51 pounds. 28 on my own, 22 with weight watchers.

For me "the ultimate goal" size is a shapely 14. I have been on Weight Watchers Points Plus for around 6 weeks now and have lost 22 pounds so far

    Hello,

My name is Lisa. I am 24 and live in Ohio. I have had a weight issue all my life and struggled with it. It was always up and down. I started myfitnesspal in June. My goal is to get to a "healthy" weight for my height and body structure. I want to be healthy and fit. I am tired of having a hard time finding clothes and work scrubs for my body shape and having to pay more than people who do not have weight issues.

I have been pretty successful so far since starting. I am eating better and working out in ways that's good for me. I have to adapt my exercise's as I have an ankle issue along with Rheumatoid Arthritis. I currently work as a STNA so my job has helping me be more physical. I have noticed my body getting stronger every day. I work 3rd shift so that also makes it a little harder to lose the weight, but I am determined.

The main reason I want to change is due to the fact I want to live a long healthy life. My family has several health issues that increase due to obesity. I don't want to have a heart attack, diabetes, stroke, high blood pressure. If I can help prevent these things I am going to do everything I can to do so.

I have a lot of support. My family and friends are being very helpful. A few of my friends have joined here to get fit and do this with me to help me out. I want to make a lifestyle change. :)

I am looking to make new friends and support people on here to help me and help them achieve our goals.

Hello! My name is Anna. I live in south Georgia am married and have a sweet dachshund puppy. I have been overweight for most of my life, but it shot up quickly once I hit college. I tried numerous weight loss plans, but I am sure this is the one for me. This site is so user friendly, and I am optimistic about the community support. I am ready to get this extra weight off (need to lose 114 pounds) and get healthy. I just bought a bike and love riding it around. There are some great bike trails around my house. I don't need much motivation for exercise once I get going. I think my biggest challenge will be counting calories and watching what I eat. I know this will be a life change, but I'm excited to see where it takes me. :flowerforyou:

Hi, my name is Brennan. I am from Florida. I am 32 years old with two kids, a 12 year old daughter and 7 year old son.

I have ben over weight since I got pregnant with my daughter and it has just sky rocketed from there. I am married, almost 14 years now. I have a husband who will never have to worry about weight or metabolism. My son takes after him. My daughter, poor girl, takes after me. Now the odd thing is, I was thin growing up. I was a size 0/1 when I met my husband at 17 and a size 6 when I got married at almost 19. My daughter, who is by no means fat, is already wearing a size 7. So I worry that I have taught her extremely bad eating habits.

I am trying to get it under control, but it seems that since I have hit my 30's the weight has decided it will stubbornly stay. Frustrates me to no end!

I have started out over the past three weeks trying to "diet" or watch my caloric intake. Suprisingly I learned that I was getting less than 1000 calories a day. Mostly because as a busy mom, albeit a stay at home one, I would only eat two meals a day and that was if I was thinking about it. I know that I am going to have to train my body, mind, and metabolism. Its a journey that my best friend has decided to take with me. We have started with the Body By Vi shakes together. Hopefully, it will just be the boost I need to get my daily calories.

I would love to have more frinds on here, to keep me motivated and maybe to give me tips on eating healthier. I am not a woman who likes to cook, and I've had my family living on take out or eating at restaurants for the past ten years. The past three weeks I have done well, only eating out once. A marked improvement for someone who ate out everyday! (Sometimes more than once.)

Exercise is not a problem once I have started. I actually love it when I get my heart pumping, I start sweating, and my face gets red. The problem is MAKING myself do it. I will walk everyday, but really exercising is a bit of a motivation issue for me. I will play Just Dance 3 on the Wii, or the Wii Fit.

Thats about it! I hope to talk to new friends soon :)

    Hi

I was pleased to find this group as I have recently restarted a weight loss campaign and I have a looooooooong journey a head of me.

I have been overweight my whole life. I lost about 5 stone last year prior to getting married but I have regained 3 this year for numerous reasons. I really want to crack it this time and having my fitness pal on my phone is great because I can genuinely keep track of my calorie consumption so easily.

I would like to lose 120 pounds to get down to the overweight BMI rather than obese. I feel that I have missed out on so much over the years because of my weight.

I hope to stick with it this time and maybe make some friends along the way

Hi guys, I'm Steph. I've been heavy most of my life, with the exception of 2-3 years of fitness near the end of high school. Been trying to lose for the better part of this year, got down to ~280 from ~300 and have just plateaued and yo-yo'ed around there for a couple months now, so I'm trying to get moving back in the right direction.

Some of the reasons it's been such a struggle for me are my hypothyroidism which leaves me with not much energy even though it's medicated, and the fact that I absolutely do not cook, so I'm mostly trying to do this all with fast food and prepackaged/frozen food.

I live with a fantastic girlfriend who has a lot less to lose but has been super supportive and willing to come on this journey to fitness with me. When I'm procrastinating on my workouts, I can usually be found playing video/computer games.

Hi all. My name is Kristi, i'm 42, living in the midwest, US. I have about 150 pounds to lose and I am scared as hell that i will never be successful. I find that my life, working 2 jobs and raising a toddler basically on my own leaves me very little room for any exercise of focus on nutrition, but i know its imperative that i make these changes for my child and my own future. Please friend me so we can help each other.

How everyone! My name is Kimi. I've always been chubby growing up. In high school; I was at my heaviest at 150-160lbs...
But i never truly minded. i still looked good lol and sure; i could have lost 10 or 20 pounds and be like those skinny girls but I enjoyed my womanly curves. Unfortunately; I got to college and I don't know. From I guess the drinking, the eating fast cheap food and not being as active as I was in highschool; I ballooned to 260 pounds. I'm 22 years old and am depressed; I constantly check out other girls and compare. I hate take pictures of myself... I fake being happy but I'm just done.

Soooo one day I caught myself being truly spiteful. A friend of mine got a boyfriend and in my head I was being a *****... Everything stemmed from my being jealous because I wasn't as thin as my friend. When I realized what my crazy mind was doing; I knew I had to stop. With being obese, you tend to hate yourself but I knew I reached a new low when I started hating my friend for her happiness. So I made a decision to shut up and shape up.

    Since Jan 1st of 2013; I started an intense workout routine. I run 3.2 miles 6x a week. I do cardio&conditioning workouts for about 2hrs a day, 6x a week and strength training (full-body) 4x a week.

I've never been an over-eater; just extremely lazy and eating u healthy foods. So I eat healthy and am actually learning how to cook. I made mashed potatoes one day that filled me completely and It was 200 calories. I started drinking 10 cups of water and doing yoga once a week.

Since I started on jan 1st on my new workout; I've lost 17 pounds. It seems like a lot to lose in almost 2 weeks but Im not starving myself. If anything; I'm eating more. And I'm truly pushing through my workout. I feel like I've been run over and beat within an inch of my life but in a weird way; I feel great because I know what the pain is for and that I'm getting healthier.

Anyway; my weight loss will soon slow down and come to a plateau but it's okay cuz Im getting stronger every day.

I work out about 2x a day, 2 hours each workout. It's a lot! But Im doing it cuz I'm a college student and am not working. I have all the time in the world before my classes start so why not go all in? I never thought I would but I honestly enjoy the exercise. With every workout I do; I feel my self lasting longer and going further and getting stronger

    Hi Everyone,
I have had a lot of health issues back to back in the last 3 years. My energy has went down hill over the last 3 years and I have 100 or more pounds to lose. I was sent by my Dr. to see a specialist who told me that I would need to have gastric by-pass surgery done. They checked with my insurance who will not cover the surgery and so here I am. I do not want to give up and I know that my weight is an issue on my health. I hope to find new friends with the same struggles that I face every day that can share meal ideas or exercises that are helping them.
    Thank you,
    Lori Searles

Hi. I am Jennifer. Just joined group today. I am 31, currently living in Washington. I have always been heavy. Well, since high school. And I have always tried to lose weight and failed. My highest weight was 296. That was just in February of this year. I decided enough was enough and promised this would be the year that my life changed. My first short term goal is 30lbs. 8lbs away!! My long tern goal is 190. That 106lbs total. And it doesn't scare me. Because I KNOW I can do it. I have support this time around. People cheering me on. Anywho, feel free to add me. Friends are always welcome.

Hi everyone! My name is Sarah and I am 24 years old. Weight has been a struggle for me my whole life. I am from East Tennessee so we are around all this great fatty Southern food ;). I have spent the last few years yo-yoing back and forth in weight. Summer of 2 years ago I managed to lose a little over 70 pounds. Needless to say I found nearly every last one of those pounds because I did not make it a life style change. I grew up on nothing but Chicken & Dumplings, Cornbread, Biscuits & Gravy, Mashed Potatoes, Fried Chicken, and just about any other yummy food that is absolutely horrific for your waist line. My mother was a single parent and never really cooked often so 9 times out of 10 it was either a freezer meal or my Grandmother's crisco filled home cooking lol. I have learned so many alternatives to those nostalgic meals and have really learned about some wonderful food items that I would not have touched previously. My whole family has weight problems and along with them come heart problems and diabetes. I am currently healthy and I want to stay that way. I want to have a family and then actually stay alive and active to be with that family! I was never really dramatically uncomfortable with myself until I lost the weight and gained it back. I believe it's because I know for a fact how much happier I was with the weight off and how much better I felt. I was doing things I always said I could not do. Canoeing, hiking, running, along with many more I am sure I am not thinking of. Now after the weight being back I just hurt! I am tired all of the time. My back problems are back. I can't breathe when I try to walk more than a few laps. Literally I have asthma now. I can't prove that the weight gain caused that but I know it sure did not happen until I gained the weight back. All in all it is just time for me to get a handle on this and get back to living life and not being a hermit. I look forward to getting to know everyone!

My name is Kaz, I am 30 (just turned) and I am near Manchester with lots to lose as I am over 250...which is better than what I started out at mind you. I do not take losing weight too seriously. I try to stay under a calorie amount and hit the bike/walk on days I go over...which usually involves something high fat or lots of carbs or indeed both in the case of a curry...
What type of peoples reside in this group? Is this a group for people who take weight loss very seriously, sensitively or humorously or all of the above? Milk :o)

Hi! I am Tamra, I live in Louisiana, and I LOVE  the food here. 20 years ago, I had a beautiful baby boy, unfortunately, I was not really fit when I got pregnant, about 140 Pounds, and by the time I had him, I was at 238 pounds. Now I am only 5' 3" so that made me almost as big around as I am tall. I gained almost a hundred pounds during that 42 weeks. I have never lost any more than 12 pounds at any time in the last 20 years, in fact when I went to the doctors a month ago, I was up to 260. I decided then that I was gonna change. I just started with tracking what I eat, not trying to cut back, just looking at the fat, sugars and calories I was consuming. It was an eye opener! I have since taken this month to cut from average of 5000 :noway: calories a day to 1500, my goal is to get down to 1200 healthy calories a day, but I would like to make that less of a deficit of food, and more of an increase in activity. I am just having a tough time finding exercises that I CAN do. I have really bad knees, ankles, hips, and shoulders. Yeah, part of the reason I need to lose the fat. I would LOVE some advice on where to look for some at home, no equipment needed, easy on the joints exercises I can do, or maybe work my way up into doing. Right now I have not been doing anything, I am ashamed to admit, I was doing core exercises, you know crunches leg lifts, stuff I could do laying on the ground. I know I need more, I just don't know where to start, and I am struggling to find money in the budget to buy the healthy foods I use, and still feed the family the food they need. I can't afford the time or money for a gym, not an excuse, just facts, I am a single mom with a special needs home schooled child. I also support my mother, so there really is not money in the budget to spare. I really want this to happen, Not looking to be super thin, I just want to get to 130, still a little round, but not bumpy! So...do you know a website that I can find some cool recipes that are good for the whole family but still fit into the 300 calorie range, and don't leave you feeling hungry? Or maybe you know a great web site that shows you how to do some exercises that are amazing?

I'm Julie. I'm 44, 5'7" tall and, at 302 lbs, fat enough for two people. At present, I'm only trying to lose weight until I'm 250 lbs, but I plan to downgrade that regularly until I reach my ideal weight of 145-155 lbs. In any case, I'm going to be here a while and I need plenty of support doing it.

My fat comes as a result of depressive eating. I eat to smother the pain with food. It worked when I was a teenager, but I'm a middle-aged woman now and I have two kids under the age of 12, both very active. To be blunt, I'm tired of being fat. I want to be done.
