    Hi I'm new to the group too. I am 39 years old, have been overweight my entire life and have tried every program and yo-yoed since I was about 17. I quit smoking 5/1/12 after 17 years and didn't want to stroke out and die, or miss out on the fun things my size has prevented me from doing, so here I am. It has been working slowly but surely. This is a very long term project. Just last week I graduated from "Extremely morbidly obese" to "morbidly obese." Woo hoo!

    LTGW: ....I guess I'll figure it out when I hit goal (g) above. I've got plenty of time to think about it. Several years ago a doctor told me I would never be under 200 lbs. I'd really like to prove him wrong.

    tubbytot: Hey, I hope you have a speedy recovery, and welcome to the group! I just started to as well, and I am at 1700 cals/day. I originally tried 1460 but it didn't work out for me, just starting out. I moved to 1700 and have lost almost 6 lbs. I'll give this a week or two and move myself down, little-by-little.

    Hello from Argentina! Here we are in a very cold winter, so it will be a winter challenge for me :) Very excited of this challenge, feeling pretty lonely on this journey...If I will not lose weight by my own, I am headed for a Gastric Bypass...sad.
    I have a lot of health problems. like INSULIN RESISTANCE, HASHIMOTO DISEASE (HYPOTHYROIDISM), very bad Arthrosis in my back, etc. It's very hard for me to lose weight but slowly I am doing it...so, I don't think I will lose 10 pounds in a month, but I will do my best!!!

    I am 57 years old, 5'.2''

    MFP Start Weight: 264 LB = 120 kilos
    CW: 227.9 LB= 103.6 KILOS
    1* GW: 219.8= 99.9 KILOS!, 2* GW: 209 LB= 95 KILOS, 3* GW: 199.8 LB ONEDERLAND!!!= 90.8 KILOS
    LTGW: 165 LB= 75 kilos...and then see!

    (I know that my weight and my counter don't add up, but that's because I lost weight before joining MFP and DAMNIT! it still counts!)
