September C25K Challenge

This months challenge:
First person to 30 miles will receive a post card from me!
Yes, a real post card with an awesome photo of the Memphis Skyline!
This challenge is to help build on the endurance you are creating. To ensure an injury free challenge, I am keeping the miles minimal. One of the best cross training you can do alongside the C25K is walking. Walking helps build time on your feet, and it uses the same muscles you run with but in a different way. That is one main goal of a cross training supplement.
To help keep track of your miles done you can use a tricker from tickerfactory.com. You can post your updated tickers here or post once you have completed. The first person to 30 miles will receive a message from me requesting your address (yes I will even mail to over seas!) and will be announced here!

I'm giving you all until September 15th and then I'll start tracking because *I want a personal postcard from rduhlir!!!*0

Did W8d1 on Monday night and man, did it hurt! It was the most intense run so far and I even slowed it right down to what I'd normally run (7.30 mins/km compared to 7 mins/km). I think I may have thrown up in my mouth a little, but I did it. I finished it.
Going to attempt to do w8d2 tonight and I'm slightly nervous after Monday's efforts!
Forgot to add - Monday's effort was 2.95 miles.0 -
It's on!!! Varda definitely runs more than me, so if she is generous enough to give you all to the 15th, I'll have to start posting on the 10th0
-
That's 48Km, for those of us who deal with metric.
Rduhlir, this is a wonderful idea.
My routine is a run/walk combination. I will report only my run distances.
Todays run: 6Km (3.75 miles)0 -

I totally spit and vomit right into the gutter. Whatever level of effort that makes me stronger and faster.0 -
Can't wait to see who will get the post card...I have it picked out and waiting on the fridge!0

Sept 10: 5.5Km (3.43 miles) Total miles: 14.15 miles
Sept 13: 7.0 Km (4.38 miles) Total miles: 18.53 miles (today's run was great....seemed that all the planets were aligned just right)
Varda, you rock!!!0 -
Yes Varda, you do rock. Plexgut, so do you, wow!
Today was 3 miles to bring my total to 7. No long run this week because soccer season starts tomorrow, but I'll get something smaller in.0 -
Thanks, Jessie! We're all winners just for getting out and enjoying a run. (my name is Petra....I should really change my MFP name)0
-
I guess I don't run nearly enough :x 14 miles thus far for me! Was going to run W8D3 yesterday/today but I'm feeling quite sick so I'm going to wait and see how I feel after work. Then I'll be at almost 17 miles :x Small victories for a non-runner0

Sounds like your cruising right along to me! You are already a runner... none of that non-runner talk
Take care of your body!! Hope you feel better.
3 for me today, 10 total.0 -
Add 3.1 today.
I don't feel like a runner I guess is what I'm saying - every run since mid-week 7 has totally sucked. Including today but I muscled through it!0 -

It'll happen, pinkstp. I didn't feel like a runner for some time after graduating C25K. I was a runner (as you are) but didn't feel it. Then it happened. It will happen to you, too, and its a great feeling. Keep running.0 -
Sept 13: 7.0 Km (4.38 miles) Total miles: 18.53 miles (today's run was great....seemed that all the planets were aligned just right)
Today's run was good. The weather is cooler.
Sept 15: 6.75 Km (4.22 miles) Total miles: 22.75 miles.
I can't yet consistently run 7K in one shot. Today I ran 5K, walked 5 minutes, then ran another 1.75K. I tried to reach 7K but petered out. I'm still pleased with my progress, though. I've come a long way over the summer.0 -
Add 3.1 today.

Same thing happened to me. It'll turn around soon.
For the longest time, I'd use phrases like "I started C25k in December" or "I graduated c25k in February" to avoid saying "I'm a runner"0 -

Thanks to you (and Plexgut!) for the motivation I graduated the program (W8D3) Saturday and am doing the continuation on to couch to 10k to keep myself moving (and hopefully help with my time/breathing/endurance). Uphill battle for me.0 -
congrats pink!!!0
-
Congratulations, pink!!! That's wonderful news!0
-
Yes, congratulations. You might also consider working on running cadence. It helps directly, but also getting out there without pushing yourself on time/distance helps too.0
-
4.5 today, 14.5 total. Congrats Pink! Petra, congrats on the stars aligning!
Nice job all around .0 -
Sept 15: 6.75 Km (4.22 miles) Total miles: 22.75 miles.
Sept 17: 6.1Km (3.81 miles) Total miles: 26.56 miles
Whoot! 2 more runs and I'll be at 30 miles! If the planets align again, it could be 1 more run.0 -

Forgot all about this! I'm going to start from the 10th as well.
10th - 5km
12th - 5.1km
14th - 12km
17th - 4.8km
Total so far - 26.9km (out of 48km)
I have a 5km run planned for tomorrow and a 12km run for Sunday which just leaves me 4.1km to reach 48. But I think Petra has this one all wrapped up!0 -
