My 10 year old daughter and I started walking a few weeks ago. Last week got busy and we bombed it but this week wasn't and we still skipped walking. We did a couple days of bodyweight fun exercise in the house but that was it. Last night we worked our arms quite well doing wall push ups(neither of us can muscle through to a 2nd push up, SAD) I don't want her to follow in my footsteps of weight problems. She's edging into the overweight category according to age old CDC child BMI charts. Though not height wise she is good(She's nearly 5'4") and my brothers scale measures her at healthy weight and body fat(and it DOES know her age). She has fluffed up but that is a little on the expected side because she is in the middle of puberty.
opps hit reply too soon. Wanted to say that we live in HOT HOT HOT Arizona so soon we may have to rely more on dvds for exercise because our temps are sure to reach 100s soon and then it will be blah outside. YES in the summer even at evening time it can be 100. WE are known for our 100+ midnight temps. I just wanna start with walk/speed walk kinda intervals but I know my daughter is wanting to try some track and field as soon as I can get her into that. Its a bit less than gymnastic costs being you usually pay one time for a whole season. She is not a sports person when it comes to balls of any sort but gymnastics is somewhat a sport(most gymnast would say THE SPORT hehe)0 -
I will be on for a May challenge. The rest of April will just working on walking 4 or more days a week with her and not be hard on ourselves about miles. We had been walking a big loop and stopping at the swings for her. It ranges from 1 mile to 1 1/2 miles when I map it online.0
